Reminds me very much of the lifting body aircraft.

The Deltoid Pumpkin Seed by John McPhee if you’re interested in this project.

This was a prototype for a hybrid airship. Its frame was aluminum welded together by an old airship rigger. Skin was fabric.

I'll have to look it up if this came before or after the book that Dean Ing wrote about an airship like this.

Not Dean Ing. John McPhee, in "The Deltoid Pumpkin Seed." It's kind of a chronicle of the thing's development, and it's pretty gripping. I read it for fun in college.

The Dynairship right?

Must have been sub-scale I assume?
GrafZeppelin127@reddit
Indeed it was. The 26 was too small for gas cells to be installed, even. The largest version would have been 1,000 feet long, with a cargo capacity of 3,300 tons and a cruising speed of 120 knots.

Who's piloting that thing, Captain Kwazii of the Octonauts?
FleeFlee@reddit
John McPhee wrote an entire book about it The Deltoid Pumpkin Seed based on his article in the New Yorker.

Would be right at home on a Golden Age pulp sci-fi cover. Probably accompanied by a space babe whose spacesuit features a bubble helmet and a miniskirt.
fulltiltboogie1971@reddit
I got to be honest I could use me a space babe
