Its the same with chess. This kinda rules are made just to annoy people
bassturducken54@reddit
I don’t care what the fucking rule book says. What is more fun rules. Free parking? Jackpot. Don’t want to see some chud touching every piece to find the easy one. Lock in buddy.
FromTheDeskOfJAW@reddit
Same thing with Uno and people claiming you can play a Draw 2 on top of another Draw 2. The rules explicitly say that when a Draw 2 is played “the next player” must draw 2 and skip their turn, period. No stacking allowed
Ghost_Alliyou@reddit
That's boring af.
Ozuge@reddit
Yeah it's actually so much more fun to stack one player with like 100 +2's so that they can literally never recover. Hilarious.
Ghost_Alliyou@reddit
And then they use all their cards to enact revenge on everyone. It's amazing
IanDerp26@reddit
this is the kinda thing that i bring up as a fun fact at game night with my partner's family, since i'm the only one who's bothered to open the rulebook in like 10 years (usually because i'm waiting for them to orchestrate the perfect turn). then they all proceed to call me a nerd for it.
example: i noticed that every copy of Ticket to Ride comes with 3 extra trains of each color that you're supposed to set aside at the beginning of every round (to replace any you may use). i quickly counted my own trains and noted that i was, indeed, missing one of these extra trains, but everybody agreed they did NOT care and kept playing with whatever they had.
every time i play with them, i respect the house rule while secretly calculating if i would've won with the right amount of trains - just for my own sanity.
(before you ask, it's ADHD, not autism.)
Ozuge@reddit
How would the loss of one train affect your winning in Ticket to Ride? Just say something like "this coin represents the one train I'm missing." It's been years since I last played, I don't remember an extra 3 trains.
IanDerp26@reddit
the way the game works, the end of the game is initiated when the first player has 0, 1, or 2 trains left (everyone takes one more turn, ending with the person who initiated the end). if everybody is playing with 1-3 extra trains, the game ends a little later than it's supposed to, allowing other players to finish tickets and build stuff that they wouldn't otherwise get.
those last few turns make a WORLD of difference.
lllGrapeApelll@reddit
Pure agony to someone with ADHD.
IanDerp26@reddit
yupp. you've got everything planned 3 turns ahead, and then they take so long that you've forgotten the whole damn plan by the time it gets back to you.
lllGrapeApelll@reddit
And they played the most mutually negative move available.
Altruistic-Local-541@reddit
its so annoying when I know what they should have played and I have the perfect counter and then they play some nonsense random move instead
womerah@reddit
Or they're just not playing the move you have an obvious counter for.
Altruistic-Local-541@reddit
no, their move makes no sense and loses them more than if they let me counter the good move
thestraightCDer@reddit
That's not a symptom of ADHD.
Mister_Bossmen@reddit
That would have annoyed the Hell out of me. I can't play with house rules, especially with a group that doesn't actually play as many different board games as I do, but if it's straight up not uniform when the game was MADE to accomodate it like Ticket to Ride it sends me up the wall
SarynScreams@reddit
The rules are whatever you can convince your opponent that they are.
Rubber_psyduck@reddit
He's autustic but he's also right
chi_sweetness25@reddit
I love playing games in a group with someone like this so that we play properly without me having to look like I have a stick up my ass
WhoTheHeckKnowsWhy@reddit
yep, tapping or flicking the blocks for looseness was the name of the game before whatever group of annoying sticklers oop ran into.
btw, don't forget about sex, sex.
destroyerOfTards@reddit
Anon should TOP the player who hasn't read the rules, that will teach them
sloothor@reddit
It’s right here rule 5
“Players must have gay sex. If the only two players are of different sexes, they are permitted to find an accompanying same-sex partner who is not in-play.”
W1D0WM4K3R@reddit
Fake because it implies that he had friends to play with
TomCBC@reddit
And the people he’s playing with are legitimately dumb. I’ve played many games of jenga. Especially fun at parties when everyone is drunk lol i swear some people go into a legit jenga zen state when drunk. Love it. And never once have i heard someone complain about testing for a looser brick.
vjmdhzgr@reddit
He's also an idiot that can't even comprehend that people might try to make a simple children's game a bit more difficult.
_Planet_Mars_@reddit
StandardN02b@reddit
Removing layers of complexity and player freedom is not making a game more difficult, it's making it less dynamic and more boring and unfair.

I swear to the good Lord they change these and other board game rules over the years just to appease folks versus reward critical thinking skills. Maybe that's not the case for Jenga, but Nelson Mandella died in prison
HippoRun23@reddit
What other rules have been mandella’d?
simpson95338@reddit
Free Parking
Ozymandias_1303@reddit
That was never an official rule, it was just how many (most?) people played.
farva_06@reddit
Except now they have Monopoly DLC that turns free parking in to a money pit.

"appease folks versus reward critical thinking skills"
What are you on about? The Jenga pieces aren't uniformly cut, you can't logic out the stress points just by looking at the tower.
RJWJ186@reddit
Even if it's a house rule, you should've said that rule before playing...
womerah@reddit
Same with never-ending Monopoly games where house rules put lost money on the 'Free Parking' tile.
ChoiceFudge3662@reddit
I feel the same way about the people who would pull bullshit in four square in gym.
history_is_my_crack@reddit
Just because its the original rule doesnt make it the best way to play. Same shit with Monopoly. The rule says if you land on free parking thats it. Just a free space to sit on. In actuality most people play the non official way that involves you collecting all the money in the middle if you land on it.
ThePassiveGamer@reddit
This is how Jenga is meant to vibe.
elreduro@reddit
Why do i think an indian wrote this post?
Smokinglordtoot@reddit
How do mouth breathers play Jenga? I think this is fake.
thatweirdguyted@reddit
Just show your brother the rulebook, Anon. It's not like he's gonna see this here. And if he does, he's gonna find it passive aggressive as fuuuuck, because it is.
kungfusam@reddit
This has gotta be about giant jenga at the bar. With an alpha drunk in the group
Billie-Holiday@reddit
Also he definitely confronted alpha drunk, got dismissed , and after getting home that night, searched half an hour for his jenga set, made sure it was right there in the booklet, became mad again, and then posted this thruthbomb.
Spiritual_Parking_70@reddit
Yeah a furious anonymous open letter to a specific person is micro penis energy
tistimenotmyrealname@reddit
Ive met some people who do drugs and then play Jenga for 12 hours in a more extensive way, with 3 Packs of jenga combined, two pillars and the tower on top, with the left hand, with the feet, with the nose, in every way you can play jenga
Beneficial-Leopard26@reddit
me when i make up stories to try and fit in with the crowd but stick out just enough that hopefully people online think im cool for the story i just made up
tistimenotmyrealname@reddit
Guess I lost you with "I met some people", too unbelievable for you huh? Or was it people being able to afford 3 Packs of jenga? They were taking drugs and playing jenga for days.
Altruistic-Local-541@reddit
its just the nothing is true and everyone is gay theme he is playing
tistimenotmyrealname@reddit
And I fell for it...fuck me I guess

Im glad for you for having at least one thing in life that makes you happy, saying "i dont believe you, noone in here has friends" and your kind of people coming to agree with you. You won your imaginary battle, print it out and jerk on it.
But fuck my ass, what in hell is supposed to be unbelievable about it? Like, it was just sitting around with friends, drinking, smoking, snorting, music and casually playing jenga but with 3 Packs for the whole weekend and the tower gets more crazy over time?
Tylos_Of_Attica@reddit
Altruistic-Local-541@reddit
my sentiments exactly
ComicBookFanatic97@reddit
Some people confuse Jenga with Chess for some reason.
adamsworstnightmare@reddit
Skill issue.
My cousin's family is very competitive and they play by this house rule. By sheer effort and hatred of losing I have seen them do things to a jenga tower that don't seem possible.
zenyattatron@reddit
anon might be technically correct but he brings down the mood during parties
EuenovAyabayya@reddit
Nobody follows Monopoly rules either.
Thenderick@reddit
We always did a similar rule. You're allowed to test, as long as you push them back. You could technically even push a brick out for 99% and make up your mind, but you had to push it back again. Oh and only using one hand (ofcourse)
theirishembassy@reddit
yeah, rules are literally just a criteria everyone agreed on before playing.
that's why something as stupid and simple as rock paper scissors normally starts off with someone clarifying "go on scissors" or "go on shoot" before they say "rock, paper, scissors, shoot".
Scoo@reddit
It’s not chess, geeze
SuperSocialMan@reddit
I love how you can feel the absolute rage he's filled with lmao
Raleth@reddit
I hate people who can’t be bothered to learn the actual rules of a game before they start applying modifications to said rules.
akulowaty@reddit
Amerifa*s can’t even play fucking monopoly because everyone plays different set of made up rules instead of reading the fucking rulebook which is just 8 pages of half size paper.

Same thing with Monopoly. People play by their own rules and wonder why the game takes so fucking long.
FROOMLOOMS@reddit
People have house rules for monopoly so... yeah, status quo
nsaisspying@reddit
GamingGems@reddit
“should be replaced, unless doing so would make the tower fall”
So how is this enforced? How do we know putting a block back in place would cause it to fall unless it actually falls, causing that player to lose? Or in this case would he not lose and the game be scratched because he shouldn’t have had to replace the unplayed block? Also, does this mean you’re able to move two blocks, play one, then leave a tower rigged to fall for the next player because you didn’t have to replace the unplayed block because doing so would cause it to fall, which you’re saving for the next player?
tomtheconqerur@reddit
Karlchen1@reddit
Completely justified reaction
Hawt_Dawg_II@reddit
That made up rule is fun though. Makes it a bigger gamble and also makes it so you have to pay attention to how the tower moves on other peoples' turns.
You can still figure out which blocks are safe it just makes it a bit harder
blueandgoldilocks@reddit
Anon doesn't understand house rules
