Is this good project car?

To be fair, I do not have a lot of mechanical skills or knowledge, but this is my dream car and i never found cheaper than this. It has engine swap edelbrock SBC 350 5.7l. Is this valid project car? Its camaro 3rd generation.

Buy the most complete car you can afford. Trust me, you wanna skip the 3 years of hunting for bits and pieces that actually make it feel like a complete car if possible

This. I would also say buy a car that’s cosmetically at a point you’re happy with, unless cosmetics are one of the things you are interested in learning, because cosmetics can take orders of magnitude more time, skill, and money than mechanical stuff (and a fully sorted car that looks trashy can really kill your enthusiasm for the project).
In my case I got a classic that was cosmetically perfect but ended up needing a lot of basic mechanical stuff from sitting and that worked out great for me. Almost everything is stuff that I can tackle at my own pace at my current skill level, and while its still a ratty project underneath it being in such good cosmetic condition really keeps me invested in making it perfect.

Really agree with you here. I am a master tech for two decades at this point, and I still don't like to deal with cosmetic stuff. It's also a lot easier for a beginner to get a little tool set and start learning. Not the same for body work..

Make sure you remember it’s your project not a daily but that seems pretty good, got a few minor issues and any parts for that thing are going to be found at literally any fucking auto store in the entire US because smalblohcheby good

This is absolutely not the car for you. This will take skills and knowledge and you acknowledged that your skills aren't great. If I had that car, I'd go ahead and finish gutting it and turn it into my next standing mile car.
BigYesterday6059@reddit
That's more project than car
RS_tactics@reddit
Only you can decide that. We can't tell you if it's a good project car or not. You have to decide if you want to put in however much work it's gonna take.
110percent_canadian@reddit
If your asking the answer is probably not, but you do.
There might even be a deal that pops up a month after that's a way better car.
Something similar happened to me with my 924 turbo. Within 2 months I saw a 944 with fusch wheels and pristine sport Recaros which the wheels + seats go for more than what the car was listed for.
sladebonge@reddit
No. And no. And a little extra no.
Also, Edelbrock doesn't make engines, they make aftermarket parts.
DirtCheap1972@reddit
Even funnier it has a Holley on it
sladebonge@reddit
Even worse unless it's cammed all to hell
DirtCheap1972@reddit
Ya because you know for a fact buddy got a stock 350 and was like “yep that needs an 750 for sure”
sladebonge@reddit
"$600 on ebay my ass!"
cheapest holley for sale on fb marketplace

Seems like everyone is saying no so I'll be the devil's advocate. If there's no rust, it's repainted, and the engine runs well and stays running, you could do much worse. I've bought other people's unfinished projects and I've also bought people's old, finished projects that have been sitting in fields for decades. I think I'd take someone's current, unfinished project over a finished project that's been sitting. How much do they want for this Camaro?
Only_Jury_8448@reddit
OP is in the EU, getting the replacement parts that aren't included is less straightforward and economical than for us over here, and that's especially true for trim and interior pieces.
Ignasysius@reddit (OP)
2,5k €. I would say it’s extremely cheap
Lucreth2@reddit
I would say probably not. There's literally a thousand pieces missing and the third gens are in a weird spot where they're too old to be in junk yards and too new to have a fully developed reproduction market. Even if the seller says they have everything, and who knows, they might, you'll be in for a long, long road of trying to sort out their mess to get it back together. You're talking hundreds of hours.
I actually own a third gen and I can say with some confidence that while they're appreciating, there are still affordable ones out there that won't require this level of distress just to get functional. Another way to look at it is that you're still at the point where spending an extra dollar on the purchase price will get you more than a dollar in value.
Ignasysius@reddit (OP)
Thank you for answer. I’m probably going to skip on this and wait for better offer
Lucreth2@reddit
I think that's probably a good idea. This is actually a pretty ideal place to start a race car that was already going to be stripped but it's just not a great spot for a road car. There's a reason it's being sold.
Good luck!
Ignasysius@reddit (OP)
Thank you a lot. You helped me with this decision
navlgazer9@reddit
Buy one that will At least drive up onto Your trailer .
Then you can Tackle one thing at a Time .
This one should be free , and even then it’s overpriced .
Way too Many parts missing
lightingthefire@reddit
No.
Ignasysius@reddit (OP)
Why?
Only_Jury_8448@reddit
It's too incomplete, and it will take a lot more time and money than you realize. If you had more experience, it would be a great father-son project because you could each work independently on the different systems and assemblies. Otherwise, you're depending on your dad to not only direct the project but show you each step along the way. There's nothing wrong with that, but I'd try to find a car that's complete that has one or two things wrong and learn from that. The odds of you actually finishing/enjoying yourself/learning on this Camaro aren't great.
Frosty-Comfort7510@reddit
What does the body look like? How about under the car?
Ignasysius@reddit (OP)
0 rust, body is completely repainted. No accidents.
mcstanky@reddit
Never buy someone's unfinished project, especially if you don't know what you're doing
skylinesora@reddit
My best projects were somebody’s unfinished projects, but I know pretty well what I’m doing and looking for
Ignasysius@reddit (OP)
I will be doing this with my dad, he is a great mechanic. So i will be learning new things from him.
