Ah well, just another soon-to-be-fossilised species in the great extinction event-du-jour.
Cambrian-Ordovician, End-Botomian, Dresbachian...
Perhaps a future intelligent species will take record of this in the far future and come up with a interesting name for current humanity's mass suicide.
Or not.
The worst part of the global catastrophe being most ignored is that we won't really know the schedule of the unfolding collapse. You still might need retirement savings.
Every situation is different, but try to stay out of debt, own a place to live, buy less frivolous stuff, etc. You'll likely be better off than NOT doing so.
I know this is a dull thing to remark on and obvious, but just makes me genuinely sad that we are destroying the only thing natural to this planet, while extolling human “culture” and its various exploits as somehow superior, while all they produce is greater alienation from what’s real. You can see ads on Facebook telling people to buy a bracelet (shipped halfway across the world via a fleet of UPS trucks that run on fossil fuels) to sponsor a snow leopard. We mass produce millions of stuffed animals yearly at the expense of the real thing. A five year old boy in Tucson cuddles his stuffed great white shark named “Sharky” in an air-conditioned bedroom where it is still 99 degrees Fahrenheit at night. The drone of a “comfy”, “relaxation-core” “Planet Earth” documentary echoes from the living room. We are simulating a realty and false notion of nature that doesn’t even really exist anymore. My heart goes out today to the Great Whites.
Sharks are older than trees, and we found at least one star that was born after they first evolved. If their habitat is being changed so much, what chance do the rest of us have?
SS: Related to climate and ecological collapse as unchecked global heating continues to be largely absorbed by the oceans, threatening to boost water temperatures to levels high enough to threaten the survival of fish like great white sharks. These apex predators are part of a small group of fish that maintain a body temperature significantly higher than the surrounding environment, which evidently makes them more vulnerable to overheating and forces them to either move horizontally to colder waters or dive deeper in order to expend less energy. Being forced to use more energy is an even bigger problem when you are working harder to find a dwindling food supply due to overfishing and ecological collapse. Losing great white sharks would be bad news because, as top predators, they have a large top-down influence on controlling the overall marine food web. Expect both marine heatwaves and heat on land to continue pushing many species past their limits as climate collapse accelerates.
While I’m not a scientist, I’m fairly sure this year will bring the highest records (yet) when it comes to heat worldwide.
Things will only accelerate even faster from now on, as several tipping points are reached. Nvm all the exponential increase we’ll be seeing in the next years, as both animals and plants die, while even more CO2 is pumped into the atmosphere.
Just how much of a heatsink can our oceans be? At this rate, they’ll be a sauna.

Will it even be worth it? Been seeing more n more older folk working because they had to come out of retirement because they needed the money to live

Did you know sharks don't have any bones?
I learned that yesterday and it still has me fucked up.

They do have proto-bones, so hopefully it's not fucking you up too much.

Side note, what and why did we decide to move away from "global warming" to "global heating"?
I'm glad at least we stopped using a conservative PR campaigns' greatest success: "climate change."

The hotter the oceans get the less gas can be in solution.
Guess what that means for the ocean as a carbons sink...

..either, I too feel this year looking bleak; and will downvote myself for a shabby sentimental uninformed "+1".

So it gets too hot for the whites, but just warm and cozy enough for the bull sharks. Can’t catch a break.
