You sound very young. 28mph is probs too fast for you. Don’t play with ur life bro. Stay safe. You’ll learn to not care what ppl think as u get older.
RichGuarantee7482@reddit
it goes 20 mph out of the box
Antidotebeatz@reddit
It literally says 28MPH
RichGuarantee7482@reddit
i literally wrote out of the box. Its locked unless you use an app. You can apologize for giving me a downvote for no reason.
Antidotebeatz@reddit
Where are you getting that information? It literally says 28mph in the title doesn’t say it requires unlocking
pjjiveturkey@reddit
and surrons advertise 46mph when they only go 30 unbypassed
RichGuarantee7482@reddit
bruh i own 3 tst ebikes. when are you going to apologize?
Antidotebeatz@reddit
Fair enough. Apologies. He’s not gonna keep it at 20mph though 😭
RichGuarantee7482@reddit
thank you for your apology so i can go back to sleep
Antidotebeatz@reddit
My opinion shouldn’t give u that much grief bruh if u know I’m wrong. Have a good sleep
RichGuarantee7482@reddit
its the internet. i cant let someone think they are right when they are wrong.
also im being sarcastic.

28 mph isn’t even the speed limit for a lot of residential roads

My son is 17 and I’m going to get him an e-bike only after we have many rides together and he has all the safety stuff he needs, and he understands that he does not need some ridiculously overpowered e-bike.
I’ve had my e-bike up to 28mph just to try it out and it’s dangerous on pretty much anything other than a smooth bike path with no one around. 28mph on a bike is absolutely flying and it’s just not something any teenager or young person needs. I know that’s not what you like to hear but believe it or not older people are really looking out for you
Super-Frame677@reddit
You sound crazy. You do realize that lots of kids that age ride full size dirt bikes on trails, right? And you do realize that they're going a hell of a lot faster than 28mph at times. You sound like a controlling parent.
And you do realize that even an analog bicycle can hit 28mph pretty easily, right? Do you treat him like a baby when he's riding a bicycle too?
Hungry_Freaks_Daddy@reddit
Dirt bikes on trails is way different than what I’m talking about. I have zero problem with that because those kids come from families that know what they’re doing in that arena.
I’m talking about suburban moms that are clueless letting their 15 year olds get essentially a moped that they don’t need a license for or anything. Some clueless mom hears “e-bike” and has zero clue what that means. For all she knows it plays Spotify on a Bluetooth speaker while you ride and that’s why it’s ‘e’ bike.
28mph sustained is absolutely cooking. 99% of people on analog bikes aren’t riding anywhere near that fast.
Super-Frame677@reddit
I'll still argue that 28mph is not that fast, and it's not much more dangerous than 20mph that any bicycle rider can likely sustain for a pretty good amount of time depending on their athletic ability.
On another note, your son is 17. That's damn near being a legal adult, and you're treating him like he's 9. Sure teach him the basics of safety, but you don't need to baby him anymore as you're describing.
MagicalPeanut@reddit
I need to disagree on this. From an engineering perspective, an e-bike is likely more dangerous because they are built with bicycle-grade components that are pushed to their mechanical limits at 28 mph. Dirt bikes are right at home at that speed with over-engineered brake and suspension while an e-bike rider is operating at the edge of their vehicle’s design envelope.
Super-Frame677@reddit
28mph is absolutely not pushing any decent bicycle components to their limits, 40mph is about the limit I'd put on most bicycles before they become dangerous. 28mph is really not much unless we're talking about a really terribly made bicycle here.
Also many if not most e-bikes use proper components made for their specs, not bicycle grade. I'm really not seeing your logic here.
Hungry_Freaks_Daddy@reddit
I just dont care to discuss this any further with you. Your arguments are not in good faith in any way, you're being a classic reddit contrarian just for the sake of being edgy. All my points are valid and you're just....being shitty and argumentative for absolutely no reason. Have a nice life.

Ehh. I'm torn. I grew up with quads and dirt bikes, but commuting daily on an ebike is a mixed bag. I've had a lot of near misses with cars and been ran off the road by trucks and had to bale. You have to imagine some of these fucks are out to kill you.
Antidotebeatz@reddit
So very young then lol
Ok_Dog1798@reddit (OP)
i’m 6 foot on a bike that’s really small it feels unstable as heck
hawaiianmoustache@reddit
So stop buying “bikes” without real world adjustments to help with your size.
These flat seated bikes are ewaste levels of build quality and won’t ever correctly fit a person of your height. They’re garbage products for dumb kids happy to throw good money into trash.
Antidotebeatz@reddit
You can get a bigger bike then. But no need to get fast bikes just cause ppl take the piss
Super-Frame677@reddit

Loose-Finger6310@reddit
The cheapest e bike that’s worth it would be the ridstar but specifically the 1500w one. Don’t listen to unc about getting a slow bike.
Ok_Dog1798@reddit (OP)
isn’t the ridstar more expensive?
Antidotebeatz@reddit
You don’t want to just go for the cheapest ebike possible because the lithium battery is more likely to blow up if it’s a Chinese knock off no one’s heard of
Ok_Dog1798@reddit (OP)
oh ok i’ll look into it then.
limitedtampa@reddit
Ridstar has numerous reports of batteries failing due to ppl using their bikes like dirt bikes so don’t buy that, get a qlife
Loose-Finger6310@reddit
You just explained why they are failing, because they are using them how they aren’t made for.
limitedtampa@reddit
Exactly, these chinesium Amazon ebikes are meant to be pavement princesses.
FLprophet@reddit
Yes Ridstar batteries are exploding and are complete and utter trash
Super-Frame677@reddit
The Ridstar is confirmed to be a fire hazard. Look it up.
Antidotebeatz@reddit
15 also? 1500w when ur frontal cortex isn’t even developed to make smart decisions is a recipe for death 💀
Loose-Finger6310@reddit
It’s common sense
1027Fall@reddit
Look at the “Motor Goat” electric bike, I’ve had one for like 4 months and it’s the best, 45ish mph top speed for only about $3,000. Company has great customer service too
1027Fall@reddit
I just read the full thing and now realize that it might be out of your price range, that Amazon bike looks amazing and if it makes you happy you should buy it. That being said also don’t listen to the kids at school, I’m sure whatever bike you have now is perfectly fine. Just wear your helmet
Zestyclose-Virus9421@reddit
It'll probably work for you but a 15AH battery isn't going to last anywhere close to 60 miles. And being an online DTC bike, there could very well be little to no after service support if anything goes wrong with it.
TourBackground4232@reddit
Stop showing things like this and calling them an e-bike. In January this will require you to be 16 years old have a license and insurance because it's a goddamn motorcycle and California is going to regulate them. Now kid argue with shit, that's reality. It's Senate Bill 1167 and on top of everything else your parents can be on the hook for your stupid shit and it's about goddamn time you kids on these fucking motorcycles have pissed off everybody and ruined it for anyone that rides a regular e-bike.
Zestyclose-Virus9421@reddit
HUH? At most it's a class 3 Ebike. Not Even an E Moto. And that's if it even hits that 28 top speed
Ok_Dog1798@reddit (OP)
what did i even do man🥲
Super-Frame677@reddit
You did nothing. These imbeciles are pathetic and sour individuals with nothing better to do. I suggest you post in r/hyperebikes, we usually make fun of these hateful assholes and give actual advice in there.
Misterlaxxxx@reddit
I dont know if youve been watching the news, but in big cities, minors (under 18 yrs old) have been using dirt bikes/motorcycles that are labeled as "e-bikes", but we all know what they really are. They have been pretty reckless with them (go figure, give a young person a very fast motor vehicle without any license or insurance requirement) and its only going to get worse.
The big issue is that these "e-bikes" can go over 40 mph and they are riding them on freeways, main streets, etc. It also ruins e-bikes for the people who buy a bicycle with an electric motor that goes 20-28mph. So bigger cities are putting laws in place that makes it mandatory for minors to have to get insurance and a license to ride these things.
This person is upset at what a lot of electric bicyclists are also upset with, young kids ruining it for everyone. The most common one I keep hearing about is the Surron brand that makes motorcycles labeled as ebikes. Some of them have pedals but the pedals dont work. they're just there to make it look like an ebike, but its really all throttle based.
Just know that when you post on these forums, you will encounter people already upset with this, especially since youre young. Just so you know
TourBackground4232@reddit
Well as I said if you live in California SB 1267 thas no real opposition that has any chance and that emoto will be a registered motor vehicle. If you're over 16 no problem you get a license and register it, if you're under 16 you got a ride something else and if your parents give you that they can get jammed in the courts. This is all happened because of the proliferation of vehicles like this that are advertised as e-bikes that can go 40 mph plus wheelies for a half a block and that's just not a bicycle. if you don't live in California I don't know what your rules will be, but if you look at states such as New Jersey they're making all e-bikes from class 1 upwards get license registration , insurance and that's not because some class one that goes 20 mph if you're pushing it downhill caused this.
Ok_Dog1798@reddit (OP)
i live in Florida
TourBackground4232@reddit
well what little I know of Florida you can probably ride a thing like that down a one-way street in the opposite direction and they won't do shit to you, have fun. luckily I will see these fuckers coming off the streets here in California soon.
GeorgeInpact@reddit
What a bitch lol
RichGuarantee7482@reddit
It's essentially the TST R002 which is a fine bike at this price point (and an excellent value). Also its a little bit cheaper on TikTok shop since theres always coupons.

Pretty-Yam-2854@reddit
My ebike is a class 3 does 28mph, it’s a lot to handle esp for a young rider. Would’ve loved it as a kid, but it would’ve been sketchy af.
Shiro_tiger-mask@reddit
I have one of those 28 but I prefer to pedal the bike instead of using the throttle for the exercise
