So I've never seen Legend, it genuinely freaked me out as a child. I think i could handle it now.

I feel like I used to confuse Legend (which I haven't seen) with Labyrinth (which I have seen).

You're good! I was 5 when it first came out. Was one of my favorites as a kid.

The costumes in this film are my roman empire.
lueur-d-espoir@reddit
This movie is my roman empire.
urbanlife78@reddit
That reminds me, I almost forgot to think about the Roman Empire this week

This is a cool statement. Some people ask the question "How often do you think about the Roman Empire" but for you it would be "How often do you think of the costumes in Ridley Scott's 1986 film Legend"

This movie was nuts

Why was there so much glitter? I was obsessed with glitter body spray and tiny glittery butterfly clips at the time, but why?
Kain-rpg@reddit
Glitter represnets the "Magic dust" or stuff of magic
Litteraly the "Stuff" of ...Legends

Hot take: I prefer the Tangerine Dream version. Let the down votes commence

TRUTH! I refuse to watch the director's cut for this very reason. I grew up watching this with Tangerine Dream, and it's so deep in my psyche that anything else is insulting. I couldn't even finish watching this clip.
PhiloLibrarian@reddit
The Director’s cut doesn’t have Tangerine Dream?? I have the soundtrack to this just for the tangerine dream score.
Holmes221bBSt@reddit
Nope. The score is completely different. More traditional fairy tale like. Lily even has a solo song & it to me it’s just super cheesy. Like very Disney Princess like. This was the version that came out in Europe.

😭

I just think the modern more synth 80’s sound just gives it another layer of interest. It creates and contrast with the setting & visuals that kinda breaks with what one would traditionally expect. Plus that pan flute during the prologue is hauntingly beautiful

I've never had the opportunity to see the Tangerine Dream version, this clip is the version I grew up with. I'd be interested in seeing how it changes the mood of things.
Holmes221bBSt@reddit
I think it gives it more mystery and sense of urgency. The Unicorn theme is better imo by far. The melody, even if played by a regular orchestra is beautiful
basiden@reddit
Goldsmith all the way for me. It's like a fever dream. I thought most people were more familiar with the Tangerine Dream cut, so I honestly don't know how controversial it is.
Spamberguesa@reddit
I agree.

You mean 40 years ago on April 18th 1968, right?
Right?

i just looked up her filmography because this reminds me she was actually a pretty decent actress but this and ferris bueller are the only movies i can remember her in. i was surprised to see she was in a tv adaptation of birds of prey in the early 2000s as harley quinn?!?! and timecop. might have to track the former down and revisit the latter, which i saw in the theater with my parents.

As a 10 year old, I was mesmerized and horrified but couldn’t turn away. I definitely had a crush on Lili.
moonbunnychan@reddit
I had a very confusing crush on the Lord of Darkness...
basiden@reddit
She was gorgeous. Dark princess Lili activated my goth goddess obsession.

Every fantasy kid I knew in school was into The Labyrinth, which is a fine movie. But this? This was my Labyrinth.
the-great-crocodile@reddit
Such a boring, awful movie. Ridley’s first stinker.
MOSbangtan@reddit
I haven’t seen this movie in forever and I just loved it so much as a kid - what a stunning scene!
AWindintheTrees@reddit
I want the Tangerine Dream version
Additional_Egg7024@reddit
We randomly watched this today!!!

I just sat down to work. I was thinking about this scene getting ready for work. This is a supremely fucked up coincidence.
