I just saw Ferris Bueller on the big screen last night. It was pretty great.
A_SingleSpeeder@reddit
Whenever I watch this, I have to immediately put on Reality Bites and vice versa. These movies are both pure 90s and I love 'em both.

School Ties!! I was a senior in high school for Reality Bites and everyone thought Ethan Hawke was so damn hot which of course he was.
muy-feliz@reddit
School Ties and Swing Kids were like the “heaviest” movies of my youth
JezmundBeserker@reddit
Ferris bueller, the goonies, war games, real genius, breakfast club, flight of the navigator, Willow, The dark Crystal

It has everything wonderful about the 80s (and several things wrong about the 80s).
Sheriff_Mills@reddit
Oh damn! I remember this movie!
hamfisted_postman@reddit
This is going to be controversial but American Pie makes me nostalgic. I (born in 78) was 21 when it came out so I was only a few years older than the characters.
Also, Can't Hardly Wait really resonated with me. Again I was only a couple years older and a lot of it reminded me of my own experiences.
Don't forget Empire Records either.
Maybe it's because I'm at the young end of Gen X but as much as I liked the 80s movies they never really portrayed the life I lead but the movies above got much closer.

Reality Bites for sure. Came out the year I graduated college. Same school as the movie. Sometimes when I start feeling they’re being too intense I remember that’s how it was.

Singles was terrific. For me, it's arguably the American Graffiti of Gen X (my cohort within it, anyway).
Reality Bites was trash. It tried to connect in all the ways, and so it related in none. As my kids would say, "total try-hard."

AuNaturellee@reddit
The early-mid 90s were so formative for 20somethings. These 2 movies are in particular captured a real cultural zeitgeist for disillusioned youth. The soundtrack for Singles summarized the Seattle scene with such a succinct sound. And Reality Bites of course had Lisa Loeb singing Stay, the first ever #1 hit by an artist not signed to major label. She still looks and sounds exactly the same 30 years later...
RebelStrategist@reddit
Singles. One of my all time favorites.

Great cliche Seattle grunge film, Scorceeeeese
Kooky-Ad1551@reddit
That's a great movie, I don't think Reality Bites was as good, but similar to Grunge music, everyone started doing their own version of the original. I think it's the soundtrack of singles that really takes me back. Crown of Thornes/Chloe Dancer playing throughout as a background track for a generation.
Far Out. Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, I'll throw that one out there, too.
Sensitive-Rip-8005@reddit
