I don't mind going first! For me it was 99.3 The Fox, "The Fox Rocks!" I loved Larry & Willy in the morning. There was once a hilarious contest where you had to have a creative answering machine message that warranted to be chosen as the best in the city. There were finalists and ultimately a winner. Their format was AOR (Album Oriented Rock).
As for AM Radio, it was Hot Hits LG73. Again, the morning show, called The Morning Zoo consisted of the host Dean Hill, his then-wife Samantha, Graham Hatch, Stu McAllister. Some playing a character of sorts. They had a witty opening theme song at 6am, something from the 50s that was morning-related. Their format was Top 40.
I went to bed at night listening to CFUN playing soft rock on my AM radio sitting on my night table, which was set to Sleep. 60 minutes later, I usually had to set it for another 60 minutes. :)

I became a radio DJ in my home town of Joplin, MO a couple months before Y2K. KSYN, KIXQ
By 2003 I was a radio DJ in Philly (WXTU) and yes, it was a great ride! I got to do things you couldn't pay to be apart of. Most of my career was in the major cities and it was truly the time of my life.
I was hoping it would take me to retirement, but you may have noticed, people don't listen to the radio much these days. GenX and a few elder millennials are all that is left who even know what radio is. Target demos for radio are 25-54... We are on the cusp of advertisers not caring anymore about us.
But nobody can take away our memories.

TheJollyHermit@reddit
I used to tune into KTRU Rice Radio quite a bit back in the day. As a college run radio station they had a really broad range of content. Used to listen to some downright experimental and sound art type stuff as well as just a mix of various artists including lesser known stuff. Some was great, some not to my tastes, but always interesting
HOUS2000IAN@reddit
Excellent synopsis of KTRU!
krack1925@reddit
From AI.....
"Lunar Rotation" was a legendary alternative and indie radio show hosted by David Sadof.
In the late 90s, the show was a staple on KTBZ 107.5 FM, better known as "The Buzz." It typically aired on Sunday nights and was famous for being one of the few places on commercial radio where you could hear local Houston bands alongside deep-cut alternative and indie tracks.
TheJollyHermit@reddit
Yeah, The Buzz was my preferred station. They moved to 94.5 later, right? But first it was just an overnight format change with no announcement.
KLOL 101.1 was the modern rock station and had the better known DJs like Moby. Were Stevens and Pruitt KLOL or the Buzz?
