Productivity dips citywide during the week of Sun N' Fun as everyone turns into planespotters. It's a Lakeland tradition. ☀️✈️

What a silly way to hold a camera.

I pay the $50 to see the old aircraft. I didn’t buy anything.

Fair! My father-in-law still goes, too. He's got deeper aviation roots/knowledge/interest. Still plenty of ways to find free tickets, and lots of volunteering options as well. I used to sell avgas/jet fuel from a golf cart back in my high school days for one of the FBO services. Super fun, free entry, and I learned a ton. Would do that again in a heartbeat!

Hey thanks! We're hobby farm nerds when we're not plane nerds. 🌱🐓🦆🪿

I love how neat and tidy it all looks. That combined with the excitement about the planes, the appreciation of butterflies, the super positive attitude throughout the video, all the dogs and the not too subtle hints of being a fellow ADHDer, makes me think you're exactly my kind of people.
What are you growing? I thought I saw some pepper plants and zucchini/squash or similar.

CLOCKED 🤣 couldn't mask if I tried these days! Just a household full of aging neurodivergents chasing dopamine around a couple acres. 🙃
Tomatoes, peppers, squash, watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries, onions, green beans, peanuts, herbs... a bit of everything! Lots of fruit trees around too. Piddlin' towards a food forest/permaculture-ish situation to be more self-reliant & help supply our mutual aid work. 🤗

Deeply embedded in every local's brain to drop everything & record lol. Socials are a sea of everyone's blurry plane pics this week - and we love it! Everyone's a plane nerd around town this week!

I went to Harden Rd at the end of the runway and watched them on Thursday

Good spot! Over on the County Line Rd side is a good angle too, still lots of open areas to park & watch.

Truly a big time of year for everyone to catch up with the neighbors while we're all out in our yards watching! My whole neighborhood was out this week lol. I used to work for a company that had its HQ campus overlooking the airport... everyone knew work stopped during airshows. Practically a citywide ordinance. 😆
Pre-911 was a fever dream. You could park right on the grass all along the edges of airport property back then, and it seemed like the whole town came out for the Saturday show. It was a tailgating atmosphere, you could grill, play music... it was AWESOME. The whole vibe started to change once those days were over, but we still make it fun!

thunderbirds visited my city for the first time ever a couple years ago. I couldn't make it to the show but they my neighborhood tends to be a regrouping point for air teams (we get snowbirds at least once a year every year) so I still got plenty of action watching F-16s doing what the snowbirds do but a whole lot faster

Never heard of the Snowbirds, thanks for that interesting rabbit hole! Thunderbirds & Blue Angels typically switch off years here, we're very lucky to get to see both. F-22 Raptor Demo team comes every year as well does their own show, that's my personal favorite. The sound! 😵💫
