We always got the white sauce. I can’t remember if it was an Alfredo sauce or what, but it was good.
SpaceLemur34@reddit
We did the chicken cacciatore.
Never knew it was by Ragu though.
ilovjedi@reddit
Yes! French something
Perfect_Caregiver_90@reddit
There was a Country French Chicken that was my favorite.
maggie320@reddit
That might be it. It was very tasty.
Admirable_Average_32@reddit
I totally remember the song and I’m singing it in my head now but I didn’t remember the song being for sauce though. I thought it was for a shake and bake type product. Weird.
TomPalmer1979@reddit
Dammit now it's stuck in my head LOL
Roland-Of-Eld-19@reddit
I feel like Iguana tonight! Like Iguana Tonight! 🦎 🦎
Strict_Party1523@reddit
SCROLLED WAY TO FAR TO SEE THIS COMMENT! 📺
Agreeable-Chart-5561@reddit
I also sing the jingle but I don’t think I actually had it growing up, may parents would hardly ever buy name brand stuff.
Weekly-Bill-1354@reddit
I am disappointed in my life as I never had this. Shake and bake yes, but chicken tonight no. Clearly was not loved as a kid.
Primary_Company_3813@reddit
We weren't allowed to have it because it came from a jar....😒 I was deprived also
JudgmentParty1571@reddit
This song will never leave my heart! Everyday somehow, I hear it in my mind”s eye. I’m so amazed with your post right now! Bravo!
06Wahoo@reddit
Yes, but what about Iguana Tonight?
PotentialPlum4945@reddit
As a chronically malnourished kid I remember seeing these commercials and thinking, "I feel like chicken tonight. But it's not going to happen." I'm sad this stuff was discontinued. I'm still curious as to what the flavor profile was like.
Jerkrollatex@reddit
Kroger sells something similar and just calls it simmer sauce. It's not bad for a fast dinner.
primusperegrinus@reddit
It’s basically just spaghetti sauce.
catsoncrack420@reddit
It's probably best it was discontinued. I'm sure it would be banned in most developed nations outside the USA. The 70-90s kids were guinea pigs for food companies. Explosion of artificial flavors, chemical preservatives. I don't even wanna know what they used as ""chicken".
PotentialPlum4945@reddit
Yeah, as a starving kind I would not have given one single flying fuck about the high sodium and trans fats.
catsoncrack420@reddit
I'm with you there. I remember the government cheese blocks my local church would hand out at times. Actual cheese back then.
sahurley@reddit
But this is the light version! Less fat and only three times the salt and sugar!
CTMechE@reddit
It was a line of simmer sauces FOR chicken. It did not contain chicken.
Turd_fergu50n@reddit
The chicken wasn’t in the jar, it’s just the sauce.
Temporary-Warning883@reddit
I think you were supposed to provide your own chicken, it was basically a simmer sauce
Aquatichive@reddit
You could try that one!
Peixao131@reddit
I feel like chicken tonight, like chicken tonight!

I heard Chicken Tonight is headlining Coachella next year with support from Molly McButter
deadmallaesthetic@reddit
fabulous!

Molly mcbutttuuhh
ordinarilymissy@reddit
I can’t say I’d ever seen the label before but I started singing the song before I had time to process. Deepest memory unlocked 🤣
mysticswerlin@reddit
Gotta do the dance too

lady_forsythe@reddit
Thanks, song and dance are now stuck in my head.
nipslippinjizzsippin@reddit
i havnt even eaten this stuff since the early 2000's and i still sing the song everytime i cook chicken.
killervirgo@reddit
Seeing the "New!" on a dusty jar is hilarious.
BrilliantTop5012@reddit
This was the one flavor my mom made. I was always curious about the other varieties. But I really liked chicken tonight night. She’d make egg noodles with it.
Daftpfnk@reddit
Mmmmmm. Light Ragu
Ok_Industry3016@reddit
LNAO completely forgot about this!
lmpcpedz@reddit
LOL man... I remember the jingle just forgotten what name brand food was promoting it lollll good times.
CherryCherry5@reddit
I don't know if it wasn't available in Canada or my parents just didn't buy it, but I never got to try it. Wasn't it just sauce? If you used a jar of pasta sauce or alfredo sauce, would you get the same results?
TargetApprehensive38@reddit
It’s weird because I remember the jingle very well, but had no idea it was a tomato sauce.
Thistooshallpass1_1@reddit
Me too, and me neither!
Plus-Pomegranate8045@reddit
This jungle will literally pop into my head in the most random situations. I’ll be at a funeral and this song will pop into my head.
ThingsOfThatNaychah@reddit
I get the "Who Wants Trident?" jingle from around that same time in my head all the time.
elkniodaphs@reddit
It's actually a really good idea for a product, and it's surprising nothing ever really filled the vacuum left by its absence.
nvmls@reddit
They sauces they sell for slow cookers come close, but this stuff was great because you just used the oven.
BigManWAGun@reddit
That looks 30 years old
jbles462@reddit
I bring this up to people and they have no idea what I’m taking about then I sing the song and still nothing.
ilovjedi@reddit
I want the French country one with a white sauce and carrots. I still miss it and think about it regularly.
Perfect_Caregiver_90@reddit
Same here. There are some dupe recipes that get close out there.
FatReverend@reddit
I instantly know the song yet as much as it stuck in my head, I never correlated it a specific brand in my head. The song will be there tomorrow but it still will not be connected to Ragu for me.
Common_Juggernaut724@reddit
I saw another Reddit post about this recently, and was talking to my wife about it. There was one variety of this that we used to use all the time, but we couldn't remember what it was. A Google search uncovered not only that it was likely a Spanish flavor, but that you can STILL BUY CHICKEN TONIGHT.
Killjoykarl10@reddit
I actually sing this song at work atleast once a day lol.
CTMechE@reddit
It was famous enough to make it on The Simpsons, so I'm not at all ashamed to remember it still

MonkeyBred@reddit
Not kidding... alluded to it 30 minutes ago.
The Mrs. asked me, "If you feel like it, tonight?"
"What, chicken? Yeah, I feel like it... tonight."
We both knew what we were saying without saying it.
slappy_mcslapenstein@reddit
Goddamn! I remembered the song but didn't remember what it was from! Thank you internet stranger!
yodamastertampa@reddit
Do the wing thing.
Expert_Ebb9913@reddit
Yes, I remember me and my best friend at the time at 10 years old being goofballs going down the aisle with sauces singing the song, lol 😂
OtherlandGirl@reddit
Loved this stuff! Also Chicken by George, remember those?
PlagueDrWily@reddit
Doesn’t this family know any songs that aren’t commercials?
Ok-Brick6831@reddit
I forgot it was a commercial.
And yup, now that damn song is in my head. Argh!
Ill-Percentage-3276@reddit
Great, now it's stuck in my head.
