“Context” lmao. “When Jesus said the most important thing was to help the poor and the sick and the suffering, what he MEANT was the top marginal tax rate must NEVER exceed 30%”
He didn’t say that was the most important thing. He said the most important thing was to love God and love your neighbor. Those things are part of living your neighbor but he did explicitly say that loving God is the most important commandment.
You’ve let politics distort your view of Christianity it seems. Don’t look at other people and point fingers at their problems. You are only accountable for yourself to God.
you seem very unwilling to form a logical argument, perhaps even question your beliefs, instead focusing entirely on discrediting the person you disagree with.
free will is incompatible with an all-knowing, all-powerful creator
That's what I keep saying and thinking!!! Any omniscient being who knows how the future will play out, the instant they start "creation", has already tuned it to a script which they are aware of completely as it plays out. I really don't Understand how people give attributes of omniscience to a being who also gives you free will, that's just a contradiction through and through. This is not even talking about the other contradictions like omnipotence and all-benevolence. It's really disheartening to read completely ass apologetics instead of an actual discourse or rumination on this topic or point. Theology would have been infinitely more engaging if it wasn't filled with zealots to the brim.
Yeah I get you lol, at some point in my discussion about this free will part with a sweet Pakistani muslim, I had to exhaust so many analogies that at some point the original point completely faded out from the conversation because of all sorts of non-sequitur. The only thing that kind of caught my attention once regarding this topic was some sort of esoteric comment from somewhere I don't remember exactly, that a God like being themselves might not have free will at the end. Lol talk about a revelation hahahaha.
It’s a Super complex and ancient school of Christian thought that can mean a ton of things depending on the “type” of Gnosticism your talking about.
In this context I’m referencing the Gnostic concept which references discrepancies in God’s behavior.
I’m paraphrasing, but it’s specifically how god’s very harsh and violent in the Old Testament, but fairly benevolent and reasonable in the New Testament
Some gnostics argued that the god of the Old Testament was a “demiurge”. Essentially, an inherently malevolent deity which attempts to build his own realm of creation away from the superior god of the new testament.
I used to daydream about like a media concept ala Hazbin Hotel relating to Hell and Heaven and then its revealed after like a season in we are actually working with Gnostic worldbuilding and that beyond the deeps of hell is the Demiurge that is currently trapped after the old to new testament transition and the top Angels ala Michael and Gabriel are working indepentdent from heaven to free it but hell does something to really piss off the order of things and one of them ascends (they were expecting him to descend from the skies but bro was diggin to get snake lion head daddy so he bursts from the earth beneath them).
This angel would then Omniman_on_Thraxxia.mp4 hell until other angel stops him so it doesn't disturbe the energy balance between hell and heaven past an irreperable state.
Also Caine makes an appeareance as a cab driver (hecking vampire the masquerade referencino) but due to God's curse of everything he touches rotting away his car is all rusted over and falling apart, he wears tattered clothes and only accepts payment in metallic since cash just desitengrates away before he can even use it on a gas station. This vibe: https://youtu.be/iWcMrWk_0Uw?is=pxaIknHkoqpVB8MW
If a decision is purely the result of physical causes, it's deterministic I.E. predetermined. If it's not then it's probabilistic and still not "your will."
The god of the bible (if he actually existed) created humans then punished them for working exactly the way he designed them to.
That is a false dichotomy and doesn't prove anything, we could imagine a world where everyone has a secret soul, and two exact souls presented in the exact same environment could make different calls because by definition free will has some independence from the environment/physical causes.
I personally think it's a bunch of ballooney but that doesn't excuse other bunch of ballooney
But that's again exactly what probabilistic will is. Two souls/brains that are exactly alike making different decisions in the same conditions rather than one decision being guaranteed.
That's still not free in any way that suddenly makes Yahweh not responsible for humans' actions.
"Nooooo, you can't critique god's actions because he is smarter than you, no he won't explain anything or make you understand, you just have to accept that killing children is the best thing a tri-omni god could possibly do, it just is" lmfao
Prophet gets insulted and kills a bunch of kids….. it’s almost like real life.
Also my personal belief is after God came to earth and we killed him in the most horrific way possible at the time for just asking people to be nice he kinda told us to fuck off at that point.

Kinda. There’s not a verse that says “and God said ‘imma head out’.” But I think you’re referring to public revelation ending with Jesus Christ.
