Iran has been remarkably patient. The US-Israel side violated the ceasefire quite early on, but Iran still took a while before returning to hostilities. At this rate, they're going to learn that they'll only be taken seriously if they behave like the monster their enemies paint them as.
GothicGolem29@reddit
Paint them as? They murdered tens of thousands of their own people....
BendicantMias@reddit
Meanwhile your side is responsible for the death of MILLIONS - https://costsofwar.watson.brown.edu/costs/human
GothicGolem29@reddit
My side is being against the killing of civilians
splader@reddit
LOL
BendicantMias@reddit
MILLIONS DEAD. Cos of your side - https://costsofwar.watson.brown.edu/costs/human
IAMADon@reddit
I still think its wild how quickly people went from disputing confirmed, conservative figures as "propaganda" to believing unconfirmed estimates based on anecdotal evidence that Iran killed over 30,000 protesters in two days, potentially exceeding the deadliest two days of the Holocaust in Babi Yar.
I suppose the 7,007 confirmed over 50 days pre-war isn't bad enough?
GothicGolem29@reddit
I beleive the Gaza health ministry death toll count just like I believe the reports of the death toll in iran
JTibbs@reddit
Well maybe you should consider the fact that the gaza death toll is confirmed bodies, and the israeli government prefers this number publicly, because it leaves out the several hundred thousand missing people in the open air concentration camp that was once gaza. Current population estimates of Gaza show between 250-400k people just… gone. Lost to the rubble of the destroyed city.
Israel is perfectly happy people use the gaza health ministry number because that number stopped counting a long time ago.
Its funny that Trump in a recent speech accidentally acknowledged the deaths when he stated the current population of gaza, and it was well below 2million, when it was close to 2.5 million before Israel’s little genocide.
PartySr@reddit
This is so crazy. This Zionist still denies the atrocities committed by Israel in Gaza, but somehow he believes some random report that Iran killed 30.000 people in two days.
GothicGolem29@reddit
You make a lot of assumptions here..... I don't deny the death toll is over 60k so my view based on the reports about iran killing tens of thousands is consistent with my view on Gazas death toll.
Another assumption I never said I have no problem with the US and Israel killing Iranian civilians
PartySr@reddit
Who said anything about that? Is funny that you couldn't even mention who killed all those people, let alone admit the atrocities committed by Israel.
But for Iran, just a random claim was more than enough. 30.000 in two days would have caused the Iranian streets to be filled in an ocean of blood.
And yet you are happy that they are attacking Iran with the intention to destroy the country. They are destroying Iran's economy and infrastructure, creating a hell for the Iranian people.
Poisoning them too. Is not enough that they are destroying the country, they are destroying their bodies too in the long term.
BurialA12@reddit
First it was 2000, then 20k, then 50k.
neatdude73@reddit
Thousands were killed by the Iranian regime at a minimum. That's still really horrible.
NotActuallyIraqi@reddit
After Netanyahu armed them and Trump bragged about the US creating the riots to bring down the government.
SurturOfMuspelheim@reddit
Thousands killed after a portion of those thousands went into the protests and fired on security forces. Let's not forget that Mossad was there using weapons supplied by the US and Israel to cause these deaths.
guylovesleep@reddit
No one denies it
But you think people would suck up to us and Israel cuz of it?
Countries responsible for more deaths and technically why Iran is like this right now?
Heck I am pretty sure half of the protest for Iran had Israel flag beside them
BendicantMias@reddit
Not as horrible as MILLIONS dying to western wars - https://costsofwar.watson.brown.edu/costs/human
PartySr@reddit
It is, I'm not denying that. I was just commenting on the performative empathy displayed by this Zionist.
BurialA12@reddit
The US/Isreal carried 1000 strikes during day 1, impressive amount of intelligence gathering
But have 0 massacre footage but the dozen body bag pictures at the hospital
NotActuallyIraqi@reddit
We have the death certificates with names and addresses. The crater in the ground. The bomb fragments with the serial numbers of the missiles. Interviews of families and eyewitnesses and blood on the ground.
But if you don’t see the gory photos you refuse to believe it?
Thouispure69@reddit
And yet they don't get the same sort of respect as America, China or Russia. Strange.
GothicGolem29@reddit
Wdym respect?
SageLeaf1@reddit
“remarkably patient” is one day to you? That’s how long it was open.
SpontaneousFlame@reddit
No, let’s not encourage anyone to behave like a monster…
trustmebro5@reddit
Iran is not basing their foreign policy on reddit posts bro.
SpontaneousFlame@reddit
Still not an excuse.
Yetanotherdeafguy@reddit
When the alternative is to let Israel bomb you until the largest remaining settlement is nothing more than a couple of hundred women and children in bombed out ruins, becoming a monster is a necessity.
Iran is not the fucking good guy here.
But let's not fool ourselves into thinking the other side are more moral or intent on peace.
The Zionist movement won't rest until Iran isn't capable of organising anything more complex than a water fountain. Until Iran resembles Gaza, the bombs will continue to fall.
The US won't rest if AIPAC dollars are still available to both sides of the aisle.
Iran is in an existential war, and until the US pulls its head in and forces Israel to stop fucking about, this won't ease off or go away.
SpontaneousFlame@reddit
There’s a difference between defending yourself and acting as a monster. Israel acts as a monster - killing children is the goal, genocide is nit a red line, and destroying the entire Middle East so it can expend is pretty much its reason for existing.
I don’t want any country to be like that, including Israel and Iran. Israel should be sanctioned until it reigns itself in. Iran should be told that if they act the same way they will be too.
mrgoobster@reddit
Iran has been funding armed groups in the region (i.e. outside its own borders) since the early '80s. No exaggeration of their record is required.
Nethlem@reddit
It's always crazy when out of all people it's Americans using that as justification for destroying some other country.
When is the last time you checked what kind of groups your government has been funding?
Are you aware that Iran is in the state it's currently in because of another time the US funded a bunch of armed groups in Iran?
While American actions of that same kind couldn't be done justice even with the wildest exaggerations.
mrgoobster@reddit
Who was using anything as a justification? What I said is simply a true statement, absent of rhetoric.
NotActuallyIraqi@reddit
If you’re not using it as justification, why are you bringing it up?
mrgoobster@reddit
The fact that you think that question needs to be asked says a lot about your mindset.
darkvaris@reddit
The US has also been funding armed groups outside its borders for decades
mrgoobster@reddit
That is also true.
SurturOfMuspelheim@reddit
Yes, good. They've armed Hezbollah, Houthis and Hamas. (I just noticed they all start with h lol) ... they might not all be the best groups but they fight worse people, so it's still a good thing.
BendicantMias@reddit
And you've been responsible for over 4.5 MILLION deaths in just half that time, so you're still far worse - https://costsofwar.watson.brown.edu/costs/human
S-Tier_Commenter@reddit
Yeah because Iran had absolutely nothing to do with the countless deaths due to Sunni-Shia violence in Iraq. /s
Nethlem@reddit
Gtfo with that "Iraq was only a sectarian civil war!" American revisionism.
If you want to blame anybody for what happened there blame the aggressor and his many willing collaborators, not those that stood by the victim.
S-Tier_Commenter@reddit
Nobody said “only a sectarian war.” Point is: Iran wasn’t a bystander… it actively backed militias that carried out sectarian killings after the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
S-Tier_Commenter@reddit
Yeah that’s neither a quote nor a paraphrase of what I said. It’s a straw man.
mrgoobster@reddit
Perhaps it isn't your first language, but in English it's not normal to address an individual as though they were a political entity.
this_dudeagain@reddit
No need for paint.
BendicantMias@reddit
For who? You? - https://costsofwar.watson.brown.edu/costs/human
this_dudeagain@reddit
Nope not a dictator of any country presently.
BendicantMias@reddit
Funny how you still manage to kill so many tho - https://costsofwar.watson.brown.edu/costs/human
SpontaneousFlame@reddit
I don’t understand the US position here:
Yes, ideally the US and Israel would embark on an orgy of destruction inside Iran as a lesson for not cravenly bowing before them, and Iran wouldn’t fire a shot back, but given that isn’t going to happen why would anyone expect Iran to let the US permanently blockade it without fighting back?
this_dudeagain@reddit
Iran just attacks neighboring countries infrastructure. So much for patience.
SpontaneousFlame@reddit
The US launched attacks targeting Iranian infrastructure from those neighbouring countries with those countries’ enthusiastic support.
I don’t think either side should have done that but it seems a little odd that you think it’s only bad when Iran doesn’t and give the US, Israel and the gulf countries a pass.
this_dudeagain@reddit
They attacked Oman which had nothing to do with any of that and is usually a peace broker for example.
SurturOfMuspelheim@reddit
You know nothing about how Iran functions.
Their military is decentralized, hence why the "decapitation" strikes did next to nothing. Regional commanders have the authority to launch strikes, etc. One of them attacked Oman and was immediately told not to do that, and Iran said such.
MaestroRozen@reddit
That's no excuse. It's responsibility of Iranian government to keep their attack dogs on a leash, and if it's too incompetent to do that it's their fault when those dogs lash out at their neighbors. And no, "but US and Israel are worse!" isn't an excuse. This isn't a fucking competition where first place takes all. All sides involved are pieces of shit in their own ways.
SurturOfMuspelheim@reddit
The commander launched 3 rockets at Oman after their countries leader and hundreds of sites, including schools and more, were bombed and struck.
Life isn't a video game, my guy.
MaestroRozen@reddit
Read again what I said. It ain't a competition. US bombing Iran doesn't magically excuse Iran bombing its' neighbors just because they're using fewer bombs.
this_dudeagain@reddit
You understand the failure in your logic of them being decentralized yet still taking orders from the top right? There's likely a struggle behind the scenes with the IRGC and the govt or the govt isn't fully in control anymore.
SurturOfMuspelheim@reddit
What failure? Just because command is decentralized and regional leaders have authority to take their own measures within the confines of articles doesn't mean that a central authority cannot exist at all.
SpontaneousFlame@reddit
Were the two US bases neutral? How about the other US facilities there - were they neutral too?
this_dudeagain@reddit
None are owned by the US.
NotActuallyIraqi@reddit
The US and UK and Israel have said for decades that if your country shelters terrorists we will treat you as terrorists.
If Oman had been allowing Iranians to use their bases the US would have bombed Oman. Now that the roles are reversed they can’t complain when these are the rules they set.
SpontaneousFlame@reddit
Who said owned?
imunfair@reddit
The US position is that we're going to harass and strangle Iran until they hand over the enriched uranium, because Trump has decided that shutting down Iran's nuclear enrichment capability is the ultimate win condition and nothing else matters at this point.
redridingoops@reddit
But he's already won, he told it last week, and also the week before !
Ozzy_21@reddit
Praise Be to Allah!
BendicantMias@reddit
Well in that case he should try making them a better offer, cos he hasn't offered them shit apart from sanctions relief. Iran has a range of demands - if the uranium is all that matters to him, then give them everything else in exchange. You know, make a deal.
Cos his pressure strat isn't working and the Iranians can up the ante again by just calling up the Houthis or attacking the Saudi pipeline. And the longer Trump avoids sending boots on the ground, the more of a chicken he looks.
travistravis@reddit
Apart from sanctions relief which most people would assume he'll put back in place immediately after getting what he wants. We've seen how Trump works, he's not very complex.
Freethecrafts@reddit
Trump’s lack of understanding of US foreign policy can be the win. Trump has sold the world on lack of nuclear capabilities being his win. Trump has also demanded an end to sanctions, not knowing the US is the one who imposed them. That means a bunch of radioactive garbage could be traded for open trade, would be a huge win.
Socraman@reddit
Making a deal should be easy for such a man who wrote a book on the Art of it.
manhattanabe@reddit
The never opened them. Even when Hormuz was supposedly “open” Iran restricted which ships could pass. There must be so many Iranian bots in this sub. Iran doesn’t comply with the agreement, and they blame the U.S.
phedinhinleninpark@reddit
It was absolutely open, just not to your country's ships. They were making it to the rest of the world just fine.
manhattanabe@reddit
So, you agree Iran violated the agreement first.
mrdevlar@reddit
Could Iran close the strait on Wednesday mornings rather than on the weekend please?
If you want to hurt the US administration, close their ability to manipulate the market.
medyas1@reddit
blatant stock manipulation if it isn't obvious to anyone with half a brain by now
