Police detained this fellow near Montgomery, AL, just for pulling his house with a pick-up. I don't see the offense, here. If it's working, it's working.

The arse end of that poor pickup says it ain't werkin!
kang9400@reddit
š im originally from Alabama and in all honesty this is not uncommon š. They called the MH movers, heard the quote and said fuck that, I can pull this mf with my truck š
Aggravating-Ideal-56@reddit
Are you talking about weigh stations? Every state has themā¦
kang9400@reddit
Alabama utilizes a mix of fixed and portable, temporary weigh stations to monitor commercial vehicles, with key locations in Athens (I-65 N/S, MM 355), Morris (I-65, MM 278), Midland City (US-231), and New Hopewell (I-20/59). ā¦Im 50 and I may seen operating stations 5 times in my life. They rotate throughout the state
kang9400@reddit
Not Alabama. None are in operation. They do a rolling operation all over the state
Aggravating-Ideal-56@reddit
They closed all the weigh stations on the interstates? 20? 65? I know there isnāt a lot of them never really has been
Socketz11@reddit
It sucks that he got popped, if he can save the $1000's it costs to hire a mover and he can do it safely, why the heck not. But if he becomes a menace on the highway or gets stuck on a big hill then maybe not the greatest plan. The DOT or COP probably got him for no CDL, permits, signage, lack of escort, or on the wrong route.
Aggravating-Ideal-56@reddit
None of what you listed is worth being arrested for tho lol
Socketz11@reddit
Hopefully, he didn't get arrested. 'Detained' just means the cop was busting his balls with questions and tickets. Hopefully,
Aggravating-Ideal-56@reddit
Detained usually means handcuffs and questions and can result in arrest for sure! Maybe the poster didnāt know the difference between just being pulled over and questioned or if he actually was detained in handcuffs lol just depends howās they meant what they said but as far as I know none of those offenses are arrest worthy alike but he could have had a warrant or stolen vehicle who knows not much context in the post lol
SamuraiJono@reddit
Montgomery, eh? I would've guessed it was Mobile.
I'll see myself out.

Koochandesu@reddit
Apart from the axle weight ratings, his overall GW ratings, no flashers, no flags, no escorts, no wide load banners, I highly doubt he even pulled a permit with a set route⦠š¤·
Aggravating-Ideal-56@reddit
Some roads you canāt even get permits for so you can just take them at your own leisure lol
2dollahollaballa@reddit
When they take the weight off that rear end, the truck will stay in that position. Thats in style in some places.
Existing_Inside5200@reddit
I live in California, specifically near the Bay Area. I can say that's absolutely correct!! We are STILL rockin' the lowrider style for some strange reason...
Aggravating-Ideal-56@reddit
I knew thatās where it started and itās made its way to Texas now too š Iām sure itās just the Cali kids whoās parents moved from Cali to Texas tho lol

Aggravating-Ideal-56@reddit
lol the retired lot lizard* she upgraded her job but the 30 year old crown Vic is on point lol
IIKoopaQueenII@reddit
Probably no permits too
bulldog522002@reddit
And a permit. The state wants their money you know.
WarmScientist5297@reddit
And several small fees to various local stakeholders that could only be paid in cash
Apart-Ad1652@reddit
Cause itās not the proper truck and looks like a pos. Theyāre not meant to haul that weight. He could kill someone. Thatās why.
onlyBotsdownvote-me@reddit (OP)
You've never country'd, have you?
Apart-Ad1652@reddit
Yeah I have , but nothing this stupid that could kill Someone.

I haul houses. He donāt have the proper permits and would cause damage to the house and anything around him. Then when he damages the house and property heāll abandon the house as he donāt have the proper insurance to cover any damages or enough for clean up.
Ripwind@reddit
It's easy to forget that people who are in this position towing their (I'm assuming) house like this aren't doing it because they want to be, they're doing it because they have to.
Freak2013@reddit
Of, because of meth.
onlyBotsdownvote-me@reddit (OP)
That is the truth, you've got to have some empathy for people. I was only 1/2 kidding, when I said I don't see a problem. I do understand it's not legal, but he's doing the best he can do with what he's got.
DANO8503@reddit
Shoulda put a tow Dolley on the front to take the weight off the truck.
TruckerDono@reddit
No permits, signage, runner, etc
MastrChang@reddit
So after the ticket, does he get to finish his trip?
AsphaltPirate74@reddit
They don't make'em like they used to. Haven't they seen those old ads of pickups pulling logs and airplanes smh.
JohnProof@reddit
I'll always remember the commercial that showed a guy dropping heavy wooden railroad ties off a trestle into the truck bed. Which, even if aimed properly would damage the hell out of the bed, but the camera switched scenes just as it became obvious he'd miss judged the throw and the tie was gonna demolish the roof of the truck.
AsphaltPirate74@reddit
Hahaha that's hilarious. I've gotta look that one up

AsphaltPirate74@reddit
That's the way to go. My truck's 20 years old and I won't go any newer. I'll rebuild and repair her and keep her for life!

Probably become some dumbass tried and then sued the Ford/Chevy/Dodge because shit went wrong lol
Solder_My_Shorts@reddit
I thought you were going to talk about houses. Can't remember the last time I seen one going down the road. I'm the type of person to sit inside with a 6 pack while it happens though. That's probably not on the permit...
driver004@reddit
I see them sporadically in the south. And have sat in a shitty recliner drinking beer and waving at people as we hauled one off with a tractor before myself
paulbunyanshat@reddit
Alabama is the last place I would have figured to have police that take issue with this
roundtwentythree@reddit
Just eyeballing how compressed that suspension is, it's a pretty safe bet that this setup vastly exceeds the tow rating and the GCWR.
I'm guessing they didn't get a permit and probably didn't have a follow vehicle either. This 4 wheeler getting pulled over is about as predictable as the sunrise.
GordTransport1958@reddit
Yeah man..hrs crushing it!! Lmao
rottenstock@reddit
Can drive a 38-43ft motorhome, pulling a 25ft trailer and not get harassed, but this is an issue?
NegusTyGaming-YPSTFU@reddit
Damn that pick up is strong asf, thatās why I still use my 03 Suburban
Apmaddock@reddit
Iām sure itās firm against the bump stops. The tongue weight on those things is enormous. Tried to move one a few feet with a tractor once. The 3-point couldnāt lift it.Ā
Strong goddamn tires on that truck, too.Ā
Nippon-Gakki@reddit
I feel bad for that 4L60e though.
JakeJascob@reddit
Over weight for the vehicle class, no banner or flags for over sized load, probably un-permitted over sized load, no escorts, no insurance for a trailer/load that size (after a certain size/weight its generally require to be insured)
Theres alot that goes into moving loads especially over sized loads Id be surprised if the guy did all the necessary steps and was doing it in a correct safe manner
onlyBotsdownvote-me@reddit (OP)
But if he made it from A to B safely, then what does that say about all those regulations? If the cops hadn't pulled him over, he'd be home now. At his new home. With his old home.
Flavoade@reddit
Dat baw donāt look like he can afford all dat
Bro canāt even move to a better neighborhood lol
daemonescanem@reddit
Well since Alabama state police tend to only pull over POC, the driver is likely guilty of driving while black.
And before yall cry foul, I live in Alabama and go to Montgomery all the time. Nearly every motorist the state police pull over is black.
I can even show you where they suppress voting on election day in Montgomery.
december151791@reddit
I live in Alabama. I have never even been pulled over here.
tributarybattles@reddit
I live in Alabama and also go to Montgomery all of the time, generally speaking the one's I see get pulled over are moronic drivers.
CoyeK@reddit
oh come on, that's not even camping anymore

My cousins neighbor pulled each half of his double wide with a Dodge dually and set it with come alongside connected to trees. Same guy got caught stealing power off the pole. My cousin figures he hadn't paid an electric bill in over a decade
Ok_Application_2292@reddit
Heās 100% legal if heās got a escort front and back and the permit for oversize
PrivatePilot9@reddit
Sure, Iām totally sure heās within his axle and hitch ratings, no problems at all

Textbook definition of playing up to the letter of the law

SquirrelInATux@reddit
Oh he had an escort in the trailer, don't worry
AutoModerrator-69@reddit
Several escorts and still got pulled over
bilbobaggginz@reddit
Towing capacity on my 95 454 is 10,000lbs. I bet the trailer weighs less than that.
Kenworthsteve@reddit
Probably not, my 06 28' RV trailer is almost 7000#. That trailer is probably 14*70 AND this redneck probably left all his household goods in it.
