How much extra to budget for a PC that can play games at 4K on 32" monitor vs a 27" at 1440p?

Trying to decide between a 27” 1440p setup and a 32” 4K setup. I'm going to build a pc.
I know 1440p looks great at 27”, but 32” usually calls for 4K, which means a more powerful PC.
Roughly how much more should I budget to go from a PC that gives solid 1440p performance to solid 4K performance? Are we talking a few hundred dollars, \~$1k, or closer to double the cost?
Looking for real-world ballpark numbers.

Native 4K still can give even my 4090 a run for it's money especially on recent/modern games.
At a minimum, in my mind, you'd want a 5080 for playing at 4K.
So it would be a fairly expensive purchase.

Just get a 1440p 27”. 32 is too big anyways

Yeah dont really agree with that. Upgraded to a 32 inch and for single player games its much more immersive imo. Maybe for competetive gaming smaller screen is better.

Mf sitting 10 feet away using a controller saying it’s better

That's the current plan but the idea of playing immersive single player games on 32" seems so enticing but I heard it might not look amazing at 1440p for 32 inches.

Bro idk why all these comments are trying to sway you to get a 32. Gotta be bots. Are you sitting at a desk? 32 is bigger than TVs you see when you go out to eat. The issue is the screen is so big you have to physically move ur eyeballs to see stuff and it makes it hard to process. I currently use a 24” for gaming and a 32 inch that I split in half and use for discord/ internet. I have tons of different monitors- when you put the 24” next to the 27” the 27 seems huge tbh. There’s honestly not too many reasons not to get a 24” now that they are 200ish dollars and come in 1440p 275hz. In relation to your question- to go from a 1440p build to a 4k build is about double the cost of the pc. You need new components for everything if you think about it- more power etc. Or you could just be like the 50 year olds and get a 32 inch and use it like a tv and sit on a recliner. But I’d definitely recommend the 24 inch sitting on a desk.

You should check 34 Inches UW curved 1440p (ideally OLED). Using it atm and it's great.

Depends on what is the budget in the frirst place

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qsnNqd Something like this could give a good 4k experience

The difference between 1440p and 4K is not that huge when you use AI upscaling. When you want to keep that as low as possible you probably need a 5080 for 4K. For a top-tier 1440p performance a 9070 XT is enough. The CPU should be minimally better, but other parts aren't affected. So you can pretty much just take the difference of these price between those. The screen size btw doesn't affect performance at all.

Depends on the games. For context, as of today, I've not played with the 9800X3D+5090 god combos.
That said, I've seen a 7800X3D+4090 struggle with 4K+high detail+no upscale. With upscaling (DLSS, FSR and XeSS), things change, but then graphical anomalies become progressively annoying as you increase the performance.
Depending on where your existing 1440p projected build is, I'd budget $1500+ USD for 4K.

Hey thanks, forgot to include about the games. Looking to play story-based singleplayer games with great graphics like God of War. Want great graphics. I will still play a lot of FPS but I'm not a pro or anything so I don't need to be hyper optimized for that.
For 4K did you mean an additional 1500 USD on top of what I would pay for 1440p?

Me2. I survive with a MSI MPG 4K QDOLED+5070Ti+I55 13600K. I wish I had more CPU (AMD X3D chip) for DotA and more GPU (Rise of the Tomb Raider still has sub 60fps 1% lows).

Yes. You're basical paying for a tier higher CPU, GPU, and Monitor.
eg:
RTX5070 -> 5070Ti or better - 400+
Intel 250K -> 7800X3D or better - 200+
27" QDOLDE 2K -> 32" QDOLED 4K - 350+
But these upgrades don't come isolated. You have to factor in a better motherboard, power supply, and cooling.

Depends on what you play/fps/expectations. Are you playing esports titles or the latest path tracing implementation?

Hey yea I forgot to add that. Looking to play story-based singleplayer games with great graphics like God of War. Want great graphics. I will still play a lot of FPS but I'm not a pro or anything so I don't need to be hyper optimized for that.

They didn't mean first person shooter, but frames per second.

27! Pas de de 32 pour le gaming tu va le regretter

Games? Target frame rate? Budget?
