Calling all movie nerds

So fellow GenXers, I’ve decided to do something ever so meaningful and productive and fill in the blanks on the top 100 movie list. Only 68 to go. For you former video store clerks and AV club members, should I save Citizen Kane for the last or something else? What do you wish you could watch again for the first time? As 2 wise old beverage connoisseurs once said, Thank you for your support.

I probably watch Big Trouble in Little China more than anything. It is the perfect movie after all. I think that is what I'd want to watch for the first time.

I rewatched it a couple days ago! One of my favorites!

Of the movies I wish I could see for the first time again, Casablanca would be on top of that list.

Noted! Better than Citizen Kane in your opinion?
AndthenIwould@reddit
Citizen Kane is a great movie for different reasons and 30 years ago I might have chosen it for the top spot. As I got older the story being told in Casablanca just affects me more, having better context of everything that was happening at that time. Both movies still hold up very well after 80 years, which is extraordinary. No wrong answer between them.

I wish I could watch Chinatown for the first time again

Most of those movies are trash compared to Fight Club.

That one really came together nicely. Have you listened to the dvd commentaries?
legion4it@reddit
Funny you said that. I haven't, and now I will. But I did read the book, after I watched the film. The first time a movie made me do that..lol I didn't even know that's thete was a book till way later.
My thinking on not watching the commentary was that I didn't want to ruin my version of how I saw the movie. But I think im way past that point now. Thank you for reminding me, I will watch it tonight

Definitely adds a layer. I’m sure you’ll enjoy.
Yeah, surprised I never read that one. Read other Palahniuk after watching Fight Club, but still haven’t read the book.

That’s one of my already watched ones. I can remember hearing the gasps and quiet mumbling around the theater as people were figuring it out.

Brilliant film! From cinematography to editing. Acting to plots and sub-plots. It's a film i can watch over and over and have introduced it to countless people. All those other films I have seen 1 time. Couldn't sit through them again. Of course, they should all have been seen 1 time. Film history. But it drives me crazy Fight Club isn't in the top 10, let alone the top 100 of all time. It's such a shame.

Quite a few I haven’t seen on there. Been hittin’ the TCM pretty hard lately, though. Definitely checked off a bunch just from that.

About 10 years ago I set out to watch the 100 AFI films, I think I got through 90 of them and then my job and family life went crazy on me lol. I need to review the current list!
MaximumJones@reddit
The Razor's Edge starring Bill Murray. It was his first dramatic role and he nailed it.
crazy-diam0nd@reddit
I’m at about 44 on that list unless I miscounted

I’ve seen everything on the list but Swing Time (and I think I’ve only seen parts of Intolerance).
So many great films on that list. The Godfather Part 2, Chinatown, the Hitchcock films, 2001, The Best Years of Our Lives, Cuckoo’s Nest, etc.
