Super Ego changes their name to Blue Sky and Sky Freight after 60 Minutes exposed them as a chameleon trucking company..

So directly after 60 Minutes exposed them as a chameleon freight company, they did what they do best, change their name to avoid further exposure..
merv1985@reddit
There should a law where you can only have maximum 25% of trucks leased on to the MC number. The rest should be company trucks.
flynnfx@reddit
Never happen.
Amazon has way too much power, as well as Wal-Mart, and both of then would lobby that into extinction. Because that would make them accountable.
merv1985@reddit
Wal-mart and Amazon do not have leased on model for owner operators.
Wal-mart is private fleet with 100% company drivers and Amazon have a different model where owner-operators need to have their own MC number.
Correct_Writer_3410@reddit
Walmart distribution centers are full of trailers for mostly third party carriers. Even if their name isn't on the trailer, third party carriers are hauling most of their freight.
benbunny@reddit
Walmart gets most of their inbound freight from outside companies. They then use their drivers to deliver from the distribution centers to the stores. Sometimes especially in peak season they'll hire on companies to help deliver more trailers to the stores
weekly-leadership-40@reddit
Walmart uses their power to move between DC’s and stores.
flynnfx@reddit
I have seen both Amazon and Wal-Mart trailers hauled by 3rd party carriers that didn't have Amazon or Wal-Mart on the side of their trucks.
Source : Wal-Mart using 3rd party carriers.
Source : Amazon using 3rd party carriers.
What source do you have for your statement?
merv1985@reddit
Walmart and Amazon are different than superego. You are completely wrong to put them in the same category.
Also using 3 party carriers means the 3 party carriers have thier own MC numbers.
When owner operated trucks haul freight for superego they haul it under superego's MC number.
This is the reason for the 60 minutes report.
Gilgamesh2000000@reddit
Most of amazons dry boxes are moved through 3rd party.
charonco@reddit
Walmart does not have any leased drivers. None. They do sometimes use third party carriers like Knight and Hirschbach. A lot of the grocery DCa use carriers like Swift and Crete to carry the grocery loads. Walmart has dog in the fight of how many leased drivers a carrier can have like you're suggesting.
Fr8boss@reddit
I think they're referring to leasing on owner operators, not hiring a third party carrier running under their own name, but I might be wrong. Walmart is trying to hire enough driver to pull their own dairy loads which are nearly all run by third parties currently.
ID_Poobaru@reddit
Amazon also has a private fleet, but they only run local up to 150mi air radius
jabber1990@reddit
I thought we wanted LESS government in trucking?
jmzstl@reddit
Who says that? The cause of the poor state of the industry can be traced back to deregulation. Wages have fallen by 50% since 1980.
jabber1990@reddit
Thats a complete lie, NOBODY makes 5-13CPM
jmzstl@reddit
Who said anything about cpm? If you’d like to fact check me, feel free to do your own research on BLS data for average yearly trucker income over the years. Obviously don’t forget to adjust those numbers for inflation.
jabber1990@reddit
That's how wages are generally calculated: through a wage
jmzstl@reddit
If you would like to be pedantic about the specific verbiage, I'll edit the post to clarify that I was talking about general yearly income.
I don't know anything about historical cpm rates aside from the fact that it does not account for the many drivers who did not get paid per mile (and still don't).
flynnfx@reddit
Super Ego happens when there is less government in trucking.
A race to the bottom dollar, with companies running illegally because they know they can get away with it.
jabber1990@reddit
ALL trucking is race to the bottom because its cheaper for the customer
charonco@reddit
Deregulation under Carter was when the race to the bottom started. Taking regulations out of trucking is literally what caused the issues we have today.
jabber1990@reddit
yes, we have so much deregulation that there are MORE regulations now than when I first started in this industry 14 years ago?
jabber1990@reddit
...they got away with it so hard that there was a 60 minutes interview about it?
charonco@reddit
After how long?
Traditional-Emu-7919@reddit
The trailers are most likely in a holding company. No need to change the trailer decal, just the decal on the truck.
TruckerAlurios@reddit
It's in the name superego Holdings
HustleTall@reddit
I’ve seen BlueSky trucks hauling super ego trailers more than once before. It’s a sister company of theirs. Other companies I’ve seen hauling their trailers include Floyd and Rocket transportation or expediting I think. But they have more than one sister company.
There’s posts going back years on this subreddit of drivers complaining about Super Ego/Floyd/Rocket.
Auquaholic@reddit
My friends work for Sky or of El Paso. Seems like they're gonna try to look like them.
Nearby-Border-5899@reddit
The problem with SuperEgo is they are simply too large to just change their name. They are going to find it hard to be a Chameleon when youre Godzilla lol
thorin693@reddit
Hey Do Not Insult Godzilla like that.
20milliondollarapi@reddit
Yea, it’s going to be obvious when drivers are showing up with super ego trailers. Because it is way too much to repaint all of those AND keep up freight.
JOliverScott@reddit
They don't have to change the name on the trailers, just the DOT/MC#s.
20milliondollarapi@reddit
Depends on what they are doing it for. To evade legality? Or to evade reputation with clients?
JOliverScott@reddit
This is why brokers have gotten so intrusive, demanding DOT#, VIN#, license plate #s - they're cross referencing against their own blacklist to prevent carriers from simply changing business names and skirting previous banishment.
Nearby-Border-5899@reddit
The problem is if they are doing that to evade liability a judge can nullify that real quick. Its been done plenty in the past, idk in trucking but in other industries.
potatocross@reddit
See it often with people forming LLCs. Sure by name you have limited liability, but when you do something stupid and try to throw the company you are the sole owner of under the bus, the liability can suddenly come right back to you.
KilljoyTheTrucker@reddit
They literally just have to stay handing out cans of spray paint and vinyl stickers with the new name on it.
Hell, they don't even have to rename the trailers, just cover the super ego name. The trailer number and plate won't need to change either.
potatocross@reddit
I’ve seen blue sky before though. So how did they just now change it to that?
kang9400@reddit
Probably purchased their dot and mc so that they can continue to prey on bad drivers.
FlatbedtruckingCA@reddit (OP)
Probably another company, i believe that company does tankers and delivers DEF.. Super Ego copied them ..
potatocross@reddit
One I’ve seen is dryvan.
FlatbedtruckingCA@reddit (OP)
They do tankers also..
kang9400@reddit
😂 those people are pathetic. But in all honesty any driver who would deal with that company to begin with is probably not a good driver to begin with. That’s why they were able to be predators in the industry. If you f-up just go drive a forklift until you get your head together and give it another try. From my understanding they would take on any driver….sap, accidents, violations etc…. NO REPUTABLE COMPANY will ever take a chance on drivers like that.
bluebus74@reddit
Andrej Vučić is supposedly shadow owner of this, whose brother is current president of serbia and also buddies with Trump/Epstein. Gee, you think Duffy, under direction from Trump, would allow this to happen?
doublebrokerfr8@reddit
Going to be a tough rebrand for them. Good.
PrivatePilot9@reddit
I hope they spend all the money only for 60 minutes to out them again under their new name.
trubol@reddit
A chameleon's gonna chameleon
FlatbedtruckingCA@reddit (OP)
Dispatch to drivers - "change MC # And DOT # ASAP!"
UhOhAllWillyNilly@reddit
I thought they only did that after they wrecked.
jabber1990@reddit
Blue Sky has been around for a while
trucksarekewl@reddit
And dummies will still line up to work for them
AgreeAndSubmit@reddit
That really is chameleon. They get discovered and now they another company entirely!
You Never Saw Me!!
Armchair-Attorney@reddit
Gonna take some time to re-decal all those trailers.
KilljoyTheTrucker@reddit
They don't need to. Just need to cover/ remove the old name.
Trailer requirements are pretty easy, I'm honestly surprised they logo'd trailers at all considering their business model.
Trappin4DaSport@reddit
still waiting for press conference from sean duffy and illinois governor if this was about immigrants it would be breaking news so far its been crickets from the government but they care about truck drivers 😂😂😂
ShoebillJoe@reddit
Yeah the owners of super ego aren't brown so they're good to go from the government's stand point
ComprehendReading@reddit
Blue Sky?
Like that one senator who called Blue Sky Blewski?
Acceptable_Trip7042@reddit
these companies just cycle through names like I change shirts at gym, nothing new here
