Brose, it's (current year), how have they not invented a way to get 5th wheel grease out of clothing?
Shirts, jeans, underwear, socks, vests, winter jackets, rain jackets, gloves (understandable), but the rest is not: all somehow get 5th wheel grease on them.
Every time i look down i feel like Brando at the end of Apocalype Now.
Please tell me there's a better solution than buying new clothes.
No_Edge_7964@reddit
We use Ballrace turntables at my company. No grease on the turntable. Far better solution
darklorddoone@reddit
That's why I wear $20 Walmart pants
StandForAChange@reddit
Wd40 worked to get it out of my carpet at home
THExPILLOx@reddit
I've done every trick every redditor has ever suggested and none of it works as well as you want it to.
Secret is quarantine and tools. Started getting a lot less grease on me when I picked up a long handled fifth wheel puller. Pair of pigskin gloves that sit beside the driver seat. And if you get smeared with some of that black evil, take your shirt off before you sit down in your seat.
The problem is the shit that gets it out, also ruins your clothes.
derpmcturd@reddit (OP)
Weird part is we're not allowed to pull the 5th wheel handle, so this is all from elsewhere either under the hood or something idk
Beneficial_Cloud5481@reddit
I picked up a trailer about a month ago and it was on the landing gear crank. Big glob of it.
Captain_Wag@reddit
Why?
derpmcturd@reddit (OP)
Im guessing someone a long time ago pulled their shoulder out or something, and that caused a policy change lol
TruckerAlurios@reddit
Trailer apron when you hook up.
jadedshibby@reddit
Is it possible you're over greasing your 5th wheel? When you do that shit gets everywhere
Mindes13@reddit
How greasy is your truck? Maybe go to a blue beacon and get that thing washed
HowlingWolven@reddit
Every time someone invents a grease remover they just invent a stickier fifth wheel grease.
Get your clothes dry cleaned at a place that does dry cleaning for mechanics. Perchloroethylene will lift out fw grease.
TruckerAlurios@reddit
He gets bent over the fifth wheel and fucked.
3amGreenCoffee@reddit
That's what that gap in the seat is for.
HowlingWolven@reddit
I don’t know about you but I generally take my underwear off before I get pegged. 🤷
TruckerAlurios@reddit
He did but the grease stuck on his belly.
HowlingWolven@reddit
That’d get on his shirt unless he got wedgied.
TruckerAlurios@reddit
Nah, belly rolls my guy. That shit dangles like an apron.
jadedshibby@reddit
The trick is non pourus outerwear (jackets, bibs, snow pants) and dawn dish soap or engine degreaser. Try to buy black clothes if you can.
lofgrenator@reddit
The trick is stop rolling around on the fifth wheel. Just saying....
Beneficial_Cloud5481@reddit
But that's just how I roll.
Beneficial_Cloud5481@reddit
Goth fashion and a safety vest is the way to go!
HowlingWolven@reddit
You could even call it High Visigoth fashion!
Unusual-Associate174@reddit
Visigoths mention in 2026 trucker subreddit was not on my bingo card. Of course I don't have a bingo card but I'm sure if I did it wouldn't be on there. But I dont anyway so it's not.
Beneficial_Cloud5481@reddit
You should talk to your company about that. I'm pretty sure it's their responsibility to issue you a Bingo card!
Beneficial_Cloud5481@reddit
Love it!
3amGreenCoffee@reddit
Try treating the spots with Dawn Powerwash.
meizhong@reddit
Safety green t-shirts on Amazon. Fruit of the loom tho. Nice shit. Cheap! Donate to thrift store and buy more every few months.
nuget102@reddit
Teflon 5th wheels only at my company. I could roll around on the 5th wheel and probably be cleaner afterwards.
Pew_Goon@reddit
How much fifth wheel grease are you using and how often are you applying it? The only time I've ever gotten any on me is at a manual truck wash where some excess splashed back on me. I've never gotten any on me at any other time, ever.
RebelTvshka@reddit
Brother, do you not starch your work clothing?
1Stack_Mack@reddit
5th wheel grease on underwear and socks? WTF are you doing?
The-Shartist@reddit
Jerking off with 5th wheel grease.

He's young, and he needs the money
Mindes13@reddit
Just enough slick with the just right tension
Jacktheforkie@reddit
Miele TwinDos, that gets fuckin everything out, fifth wheel grease, anti seize, even bitumen paint after a few goes
jfrostislost@reddit
Look for hand cleaner called Goop or the totally awesome at dollar tree
zdw0986@reddit
How tf are you getting 5th wheel grease everywhere? Wear gloves you Neanderthal.
Immediate_Regular@reddit
They don't want to admit it but they were rolling around on the fifth wheel like a dog that found something especially stinky.
raddrobb67@reddit
I've never had this issue other than getting it on my gloves. They cost a few bucks at Walmart and three or four pair will last a year.
Captain_Wag@reddit
How are you getting 5th wheel grease everywhere? I've never had this problem.
Ok_Measurement_107@reddit
Brake cleaner
L0quence@reddit
This is the first thing I look for when I get grease everywhere. Anyone who isn’t didn’t grow up in shops/garages or around equipment
Cardinal_350@reddit
Throw that shit in the trash it's done. The only thing I've ever found that kind of cuts it is take a 5 gallon bucket and put Oxy Clean and dish soap in it. Then soak the clothes in the bucket for at least 24 hours. After you take them out wash them with a good shot of detergent and Oxy Clean Stain Fighter in the jug. It will get 95% of it out but it won't get it all
Jamo3306@reddit
Have you tried using soda ash, in the wash?
binderdriver@reddit
Starting fluid works very well.....on e the grease is gone there will be a ring around where it was....the ring launders out very well...
madbillsfan@reddit
I use fire
TheRiftsplitter@reddit
Scrub it with a tooth brush and soap before it goes in the washer. Unless you use your shirt as a rag I've never had much on me
Capn_T_Driver@reddit
Shout Advantage gel or whatever it’s called: comes in a blue bottle and has a bristle top applicator.
It works extremely well on most clothes.
elderemotrucker@reddit
91% isopropyl alcohol will remove it very well.
The_Okay_Baboo@reddit
Pretreat and wash on heavy duty with arm and hammer detergent. Make sure it came out before you throw it in the dryer. It comes out.
