Bought my first gun yesterday

I have to wait 10 days to take it home since it’s a cali purchase but I’m really satisfied with my purchase. It’s a used Springfield armory 1911. Can’t wait to take this to the range then clean it up!

Same here, 8 years 2000+ rounds and 0 malfunctions. Love this pistol

What cleaning kit should I get? I need to get all the accessories. By law I have to wait a few more days before I can pick it up. Thanks

https://a.co/d/071vqHUC this is a decent kit, but a bore snake, CLP and a toothbrush is really all you need!

Great! I bought a ria when I lived in NY. Might as well have 45 over 9mm when you can only can carry 10 rounds lol. Completely understand.

Whelp. You're starting off really well!!!

Beautiful! Excellent decision!!!

Good choice.

A 1911 .45 was my first as well. I like them all, but the 1911 is the best!!!

Congratulations!!!!!!! Welcome to the condition 😁 Like the song in the 70s says It’s only just begun !!

Great tip! Thank you I will be making a break down box/barrier
ExplanationMaster634@reddit
It’s always worked out good for me

Hell of a way to start! Congrats, and welcome.

Beautiful. I’ve got a range officer as one of my 1st guns. They are awesome. I couldn’t imagine waiting 10 days for a new toy 🤦♂️
CoreSoundCoastie@reddit
Nice one! Treat it well, and it’ll treat you well.
DashMcGee@reddit
You have chosen very wisely. Welcome to the 1911 family.

Nice choice for a first gun

Always :) 👍

I’m a glock loyalist all the way but something about an authentic Springfield 1911, beautiful firearm !
DebtOk6470@reddit
Congrats on your purchase! You can also clean and oil it before the range trip too, to treat your 1911 right!
85lumber@reddit (OP)
I should you’re right!
FlyingYankee118@reddit
Do you have experience with other firearms? .45 isn’t the easiest to learn how to shoot on
Exotic_Conclusion_21@reddit
I learned on a .45 1911 as a ~12 year old. Not too difficult with the right teacher
shooterLV@reddit
Fact. I was around the same age when I first shot a 1911. My uncle told me it would kick like a horse….and it did.
85lumber@reddit (OP)
I probably should have specified I’ve fired various handguns, rifles and a 12 gauge before. I know what I’m getting into as far as the power and kick. I’ll be definitely going to the range to get more practice now that I own one and I’ll be learning how to clean and maintain it responsibly
FlyingYankee118@reddit
Nice enjoy your pistol!
shooter505@reddit
Agreed...that's a lot of gun for a first-timer. Not saying it's impossible...just, as you said, not the easiest for beginners.
FlyingYankee118@reddit
Yup and I’m already getting downvoted for pointing out the obvious lol. Hopefully they got experience on another firearm
LenTrexlersLettuce@reddit
Outstanding choice. You won’t be disappointed.
Different-Dig2911@reddit
Hell yeah! That was my first handgun back in the day. Take care of it and it’ll serve you well.
