Hezbollah is shooting itself in the foot by attacking UNFIL forces, assuming that’s an accurate assessment, especially when those forces are French.
The_Aim_Was_Song@reddit
Hezbollah killing UNIFIL members only barely escapes the definition of "friendly fire," but in practical terms, it's pretty close.
It's incredibly stupid for Hezb. fighters to be attacking the force that literally allowed them to situate their tunnels nearby for increased protection.
As a Canadian, I don't want my country's soldiers there if their only role is to hang out near Hezbollah and to do nothing more than hang out in the line of fire during an Israel-Hezbollah hot war.
If UNIFIL isn't going to fulfil the "disarm Hezbollah" part of the force's mandate, then it's good that 2026 is going to be UNIFIL's final year in operation. I don't want Canadian soldiers going over there with orders to simply watch as Hezbollah launches missiles from nearby to them, and then to hang out in the vicinity when Hezbollah gets struck.
There's something principled in sending our people to do peacekeeping, but UNIFIL ain't it -- and it never was.
But Hezbollah attacking UNIFIL is wild. One doesn't generally want to bite the hand that serves mostly to protect you.
exegenes1s@reddit
Israel has intentionally attacked unifl several times while Hezbollah has no history of that. We'll see
Old_Wallaby_7461@reddit
Hezbollah has attacked UNIFL several times, killing several peacekeepers

ycnz@reddit
The recent events seem to mostly be Israel or unattributed. It does not seem to back your comment up.
Zipz@reddit
See this is the problem
How you guys pretend to care about UN forces but when the wrong side kills them you make every excuse for it
ycnz@reddit
Where did I imply that I didn't care about it? It's the fucking UN. They might not be effective, but they're trying to help.
WestcoastAlex@reddit
no. the problem is that israel has become known for false flag attacks while Hezbo is well known for taking responsibility or announcing their attack.
when its unconfirmed, any argument is pointless
kapsama@reddit
More projection from Israel supporters. Pretending to care about everything until Israel doesit.
Zipz@reddit
Hey another one
I don’t have to project anything
You guys keep showing the world the type of people you are
Hypocrites
kapsama@reddit
Said the genocide supporter.
Zipz@reddit
lol it’s so funny how you can’t debate what I said
You just want to call me names
You just keep making a bigger and bigger fool of yourself
kapsama@reddit
You're literally just name calling.
Zipz@reddit
No I’m not
Lmfaooo
You really are special
Now I am
kapsama@reddit
First post accusing other of being hypocrites.
Second post cslling people hypocrites.
Third post calling me a fool.
Fourth post calling me special.
You have no argument.
Zipz@reddit
I mean you never even tried debunking my original point
So what are you even talking about ?
I said you guys are fake without calling you guys fake
And you just ignored it
So wtf are you talking about
You guys make excuses for Hezbollah when they kill people. That’s shows you have no morals that you pretend
kapsama@reddit
Again you have no point. Accusing others of doing what Israel supporters actually do is not a point.
Just a useless hasbara account.
Zipz@reddit
I mean again you pretend not to get it
You complain about when Israel’s supporters do this
Yet when Hezbollah does the same you make every excuse
That makes you a hypocrite that is a fraud. You don’t care about the UN or human life unless you can use it as a weapon
That makes you a bad person and a hypocrite
kapsama@reddit
Again condemning and praising solely based on what Israel does is what you hasbara accounts do.
Accusing others of selective condemnation isn't an argument.
Zipz@reddit
No it’s what you guys just did
You guys proved it
LOL
ComradeYoldas@reddit
Exactly lmao
Sojourn365@reddit
"unattributed" is because UNFIL never accused of Hezbollah of anything. Since 2006 Their entire job was to make sure Hezbollah doesn't arm itself in Southend Lebanon.all those years they constantly reported that they "couldn't find evidence" of Hezbollah rearming.
The 2024 war showed how well armed Hezbollah was. They had extensive underground networks within sight of the UNFIL based - but they "never found evidence".
When it comes to any shooting towards them they are very quick to blame Israel but never mention Hezbollah. If it's not Israel then it's "unattributed".
UNFIL has done nothing to stop this conflict. They are more of a hindrance.
kapsama@reddit
UNFIL isn't equipped to take down Hezbollah. And the world isn't responsible to eradicate resistance groups formed 5o resist Israeli aggression.
WestcoastAlex@reddit
its not even their mandate
Sojourn365@reddit
UNFIL wasn't supposed to take down Hezbollah. It simply needed to report and then facilitate assistance to the Lebanon government.
It didn't do its job.
Israel has been out of Lebanon for 26 years. Israeli aggression has been in response to Hezbollah attacks into Israel.
There is no need of a "resistance group" if they stop attacking Israel.
kapsama@reddit
Israel is pursuing rhe Greater Israel project. No onr buys this propaganda of Israel as the innocent lamb.
Old_Wallaby_7461@reddit
It's not Israel that attacks with roadside bombs, for instance, or mob violence in major population centers in Lebanon.
I think it backs up my comment pretty well. I never mentioned Israel, so I don't know why you brought it up.
Kyudojin@reddit
You don't know why someone would mention Israel, the country currently invading Lebanon?
Old_Wallaby_7461@reddit
The claim was that hezbollah never attacked UNIFL troops. They have.
LineOfInquiry@reddit
That doesn’t mean it’s Hezbollah. You know there other people who might want to attack UN peacekeepers right?
Best_Change4155@reddit
IDF famously uses IEDs in areas it doesn't control.

SatisfactionDry3038@reddit
Attacked who
Fearless-Feature-830@reddit
They triple tapped medics last week and killed several emergency health providers in ambulances
Decent_Cheesecake_29@reddit
And then bombed the funeral.
mahdijouni98@reddit
It's just the usual propaganda. Why would Hezbollah shoot them even? Israel has killed way more and injured waaaaay more and France and all of the EU is perfectly fine with it. It's just the usual, UN forcing their way into villages when it's none of their business.
azure_beauty@reddit
Why would Israel shoot them? Hezbollah has killed waaaay more french and everyone seems perfectly fine with it.
FeralGiraffeAttack@reddit
The same reason Israel shoots the press and commits a genocide
azure_beauty@reddit
Hezbollah has ethnically cleansed Lebanon of Jews and helped Assad massacre any dissent alongside tens of thousands of civilians.
Fearless-Feature-830@reddit
So that makes it ok for Israel to ethnically cleanse Shia Muslims? Dumb
azure_beauty@reddit
No but we're also not doing that lol
FeralGiraffeAttack@reddit
Willful ignorance on your part.
The International Court of Justice issued a July 19, 2024 advisory opinion ruling that Israel is illegally occupying Palestinian territory and engaging in the illegal forcible transfer of populations in violation of the Geneva Conventions. They said “the Court is of the view that Israel’s unlawful policies and practices are in breach of Israel’s obligation to respect the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination. . . . the Court is of the view that Israel’s withdrawal from the Gaza Strip has not entirely released it of its obligations under the law of occupation. Israel’s obligations have remained commensurate with the degree of its effective control over the Gaza Strip. . . . In the Court’s view, Israel’s policies and practices are contrary to the prohibition of forcible transfer of the protected population under the first paragraph of Article 49, of the Fourth Geneva Convention the Court is of the view that Israel’s systematic failure to prevent or to punish attacks by settlers against the life or bodily integrity of Palestinians, as well as Israel’s excessive use of force against Palestinians, is inconsistent with its obligations. . . . The Court has also found in reply to the first part of question (b) that the continued presence of Israel in the Occupied Palestinian Territory is illegal."
Furthermore the Israeli settlements in the West Bank since 1967 have also been illegal as noted by the UN Security Council and the Red Cross, and the International Court of Justice
azure_beauty@reddit
Do you think Israel has shia Muslims? That would explain a lot.
WestcoastAlex@reddit
that wasnt what was said .. israel is 100% ethnic clansing south Lebanon right now
israel is welcome to form a 'buffer zone' in northern israel .. occupation and displacement and smashing homes while threatening the residents from returning is Ethnic Cleansing
WestcoastAlex@reddit
false
BernieMP@reddit
Do you have any documentation of Hezbollah "ethnically cleansing" lebanon? Because I can't find anything regarding that
azure_beauty@reddit
https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/רצח_מנהיגי_יהדות_לבנון_(1984–1986)
You can use your browser's built in translate feature to read about Hezbollah's terror campaign against Lebanese Jewry that drove them out of Lebanon.
Decent_Cheesecake_29@reddit
Why did Israel murder those two people from UNICEF just the other day? You and every other Israel supporter seem perfectly fine with it.
azure_beauty@reddit
Yeah to be honest I had no idea about the incident, I has to google, the only reputable source covering it is Reuters (besides UNICEF of course), not a peep in Israeli media.
If it happened, that's bad. If it didn't, that's good. An investigation should obviously be carried out, and if malice is found people should be punished. That is not s controversial opinion.
ebi_gwent@reddit
There's a short and simple answer but I think it would get me banned
azure_beauty@reddit
If your answer is claiming the Joos are evil, then yeah, maybe.
ebi_gwent@reddit
I find racism to be one of the dumbest things a person can engage in tbh so no
azure_beauty@reddit
If what you want to say it's racist or actively threatening violence, there's close to a 0% chance you'll get banned, go and say away.
ebi_gwent@reddit
I did. https://www.reddit.com/r/anime_titties/s/mgTumsIi9z
azure_beauty@reddit
That's not even a hypothesis that's a false premise fallacy if I've ever seen one, you just declare that Israel is evil and that's why it must be true that it does evil things.
The problem is, your belief of Israel being evil is based off of the assumption that Israel does evil things, which is oftentimes (like in this case) objectively not true.
ebi_gwent@reddit
Yeah if I can plagiarise George Galloway, I'm not interested in debating the actions of nazis with a defender of them
azure_beauty@reddit
It's completely unseruous to engage in any sort of political discussion while silencing everyone you don't like by claiming they are a Nazi.
Again, this is a faulty premise fallacy, because your only argument for someone being a Nazi is the fact that you accuse them of being a Nazi.
ebi_gwent@reddit
There's only a very specific type of person I dislike and before you try it, it's not Jewish people. In fact religion and ethnicity have nothing to do with it.
azure_beauty@reddit
That still doesn't change the fact that your entire argument is "I believe you do evil things so this thing that happened is clearly your fault because it's evil and you do evil things" and any counterargument is met with "I don't talk to people who support doing evil things."
Current-Wealth-756@reddit
I don't know what your simple answer is, but I don't respect you censuring yourself from saying sometime that you believe is true because out of fear of something as trivial as a reddit account ban
ebi_gwent@reddit
That's a fair point but I'm not sure a third ban will be temporary and the point is so mainstream now that it didn't feel worth the trouble...
It's simple though. Israel is as close as we will probably get to a modern day nazi Germany. There isn't a second of it's immoral existence where it has even come close to obeying international law.
Current-Wealth-756@reddit

Fearless-Feature-830@reddit
Idk they did it last week?
azure_beauty@reddit
Yes Hezbollah attacked UNIFIL last week.
UnGauchoCualquiera@reddit
Because they have a history of killing UNIFIL?
azure_beauty@reddit
Yes, Hezbollah does.
PuntiffSupreme@reddit
Hezbollah is a terrorist organization that the UN has called in to disarm. Israel is the worst guy here but Hezbollah only really differs in capabilities not desire for violence.
Ok_Relation7695@reddit
IDF is also a terroristorganisasjon
WestcoastAlex@reddit
israel also sponsors outside terrorist groups
MrTatyo@reddit
Hezbollah is also anti-genocide and anti-apartheid and is not committing either of those
And the IDF has been accused as one of the largest state sponsored terrorism.
WestcoastAlex@reddit
yes. they are freedom fighters not terrorists
its 100% israelism bullshit to call them terrorists
Kyudojin@reddit
Hezbollah is a liberatory force born out of the Lebanese people's desire for someone to fight back against the country currently invading them. They 100% differ from the terror state of Israel.
travistravis@reddit
Just yesterday (or earlier today?) there was a post about Israel killing 2 other UN humanitarian staff in Gaza
xccehlsiorz@reddit
From UNICEF, yes. Putting these deaths on Hezbollah is complete nonsense
LeGrandLucifer@reddit
Hezbollah is pants-on-head mentally challenged.
Virtual-Pension-991@reddit
I would say it's nothing exxagerated, especially since Macron declared support for Lebanese government.
leto78@reddit
UNIFIL Refused to implement their mandate to disarm Hezbollah. This would have been solved a long time ago if they had done their work. The local population loved the UNIFIL because they did nothing and spent money in the local economy. It was a steady source of income.
BlackJesus1001@reddit
UNIFIL is not really allowed to carry out their mandate until Lebanon formally asks them to, which Lebanon has still not done.
CharmCityKid09@reddit
UNIFIL currently has around 7500 troops in south Lebanon. About 23% of which are from Spain, Ireland and Indonesia. Not exactly a trio with non biased motives when it comes to Israel. Wouldn't be surprised if them not doing anything was intentional as them doing their job would inadvertently help Israel.
SirStupidity@reddit
UNIFIL should have been disbanded long ago, I dont understand how the population of the countries which send soldiers there aren't up in arms about it. It has no mandate that is at all effective nor helpful, it's just bleeding human lives for no fucking reason.
SatisfactionDry3038@reddit
Without it Israel usually goes on a baby killing spree.
TearOpenTheVault@reddit
It's currently there and Israel is killing anyway while they fail to enforce anything on Hezbollah. It is an abject failure.
SatisfactionDry3038@reddit
No one likes a witness when you are killing babies
TearOpenTheVault@reddit
I didn’t know UNFIL were journalists primarily there to report on the events. I thought they were spending half a billion a year to support the legitimate Lebanese government.
