Can't speak to the weight, but bought the trip kit from BB and it served me well for a good while. Quick shipping and fair price.
A weight is great for slowing RoF a bit, and preventing bounce (as stated on the site).
Only beef (if you're listening, guys) is that the alloy must be pretty soft on the trip. Mine has visible weardown after probably 3k rounds, and it actually stopped functioning consistently around 2.7k rds of SS, due to the wear moving the point of contact "back" on the trip. But it did hold up 100% reliably through about 2.5k. I wish the trip was made from something harder, though.
Ended up switching to a plastic trip that I can 3dp/replace as it wears.
Solid & legit seller, though, and would do business with them again if the trip was more resilient. Buy with confidence.

Hey thanks! A bit of high quality grease (we use super lube with teflon) on the trip makes wear MUCH less of an issue as it is in sliding contact. Feel free to send it to us under warranty for a rebuild and grease her up next time if you didn't the first time around.
Resident_Skroob@reddit
You guys rock! I'll send it ASAP, and I'll try grease, if you actually mean grease. I was using "regular old" Remoil and CLP. I'll try your rec when it comes back.
BoreBuddy@reddit (OP)
Grease, good and tacky, on the lever and trip. Rem oil is better than nothing, but its mostly solvents.
We like trips to be the sacrificial item if one side is going to wear. This mindset came from serving the transferable market where a trip wearing was preferable to a $20k+ DIAS or registered lower component wearing. I think this holds true to FRTs - trip wear is preferable to trigger wear.
Plastic SS levers generally run better with 22.

Hornaday One Shot on all the bolt components without wet lube work too?
Would you run wet or dry lube? That’s the crux of the inquiry.
BoreBuddy@reddit (OP)
We generally run oil on the bolts, grease on trip to lever interface if it's a super safety (or derivative like the Atrius and ARC).
Psychological-Drive4@reddit
Good info. Will switch over to oil for the 9”
KineticTechProjects@reddit
Do you use a metal super safety lever? I noticed this as well. It's lubricated but completely mushroomed out anyways. Got thousands of rounds through mine after switching to a plastic lever and it hasn't seemingly worn out any more. The 4140 steel lever beats the crap out of their trip.
Resident_Skroob@reddit
Yep, 4140, D2 and D7. The 4140 was on my 22, though. D2 and D7 are "matching up well" with the alloy on my 5.56 SS BCGs. They just need frequent lube (like every 2-300 rds), which is a maintenance item and acceptable.
KineticTechProjects@reddit
I'm gonna have to disagree on "acceptable" haha. They just need to make it hardened steel, end of story. Same with the bolt weight cracking at the front. All of mine have broken that little piece connecting the two sides. Their response is "it happens" and they'll offer to replace it, but there's no point because it'll just break again in a thousand rounds or so. For how expensive their whole setup ends up being i'd hope it would be a bit more durable, but it is what it is, no one else is making them.
Resident_Skroob@reddit
I was saying that having to lube my 5.56 SSs every 200rds is "acceptable." Sorry if that wasn't clear. Not talking about the product in the post. I've got thousands of flawless rounds on my D2 and D7s in 5.56 and 9 ARs.
KineticTechProjects@reddit
Ah I see. I thought you were talking about the .22, my bad. But yea, I'm surprised you have to lube it that much. That doesn't seem right.
DogAteMyCondom@reddit
Did y’all ever come out with the ticker levers to reduce the slop in them? Could have sworn I saw something that said you or someone was going to create
BoreBuddy@reddit (OP)
We did not as we don't sell the trigger components. We generally scale up the Hoffman file by 0.5% increments from 100% to 103% and then test fit in the cam, then whichever scaling fits best gets printed for soares for the range bag.
