You're getting downvoted but that was my very first thought seeing the gen 6 design. Also I have no idea how that beaver tail would benefit the shooter unless a lot of people have an idiotic habit of getting the web of their thumb behind the slide.

It's a huge L for glock. You're effectively increasing the overall length on a compact pistol. For no reason.

Owned my Gen 6 for about 2 weeks. Imagine trying to tie your shoe or bend down and pick something up, with a 1" beavertale that goes above the belt line.
All glock had to do was make the beavertale swappable with the grips. But no.
Gen 5 is better.

No optic cut on top of being somewhat of a "bad statement" by Glock (I understand why they did it, I am not salty, but it was still a big of a misstep in general) and I really don't see who would buy a V unless it comes with a deep, deep discount.
None of the nice upgrades of the Gen 6 and all of the current disadvantages (less tested trigger mechanism and striker parts, no GPT available yet).

Yeah, in that sense I can see how it might have been a necessary evil to a) protect their asses in a lawsuit (debatable, but if that's the case, I assume good lawyers advised them to do so) and b) keep selling after the incoming bans in blue states, that would have happened regardless.
Both of those things make sense from a financial standpoint, as said I understand their reasoning, I am just not sure that communication on this matter was handled well by Glock.

To adjust Gen 5 production to mitigate the switches. I don’t believe they’re making Gen 5 anymore.
I got a Glock 21 Gen V last week brand new. They didn’t have any new Gen 5 ones.
Everyone is making a big deal about nothing. It’s just there to replace the Gen 5 lineup until they start making Gen 6 for all the other types.

Main purpose is because of the Glock ban that is being unconstitutionaly being passed due to having a cross style trigger. Glock saw the writing on the wall and introduced the gen V with a different type of trigger that in theory won't be able to take Glock switches
