Outback, Carrabba’s, Bonefish Grill, or Fleming’s - which is best ?

Recently got a gift card to any of these four chains. Which one do people think is best of the four ? I’ve never been to any of them so I have no idea. Would love some insights if anyone has any opinions !
NCSU_252@reddit
$100? Go to Outback with a friend, get a bloomin onion and like 12 beers.
patty202@reddit
How much is the card for. Fleming's is expensive compared to the others.
Responsible-Buy-8990@reddit (OP)
It’s for 100$ - am aware these are more on the pricier side of chain restaurants, so not expecting to get covered all that much, just as a partial supplement but also an excuse to go since I don’t have much of a reason otherwise
The_Saddest_Boner@reddit
Bonefish is pretty solid for a chain, and 100 bucks will be enough there.
Flemings is good too but you might have to pay a bit out of pocket if you’re not dining alone.
creamcandy@reddit
I had a bad experience at Bonefish and intend to never go back, FWIW.
The_Saddest_Boner@reddit
I briefly worked there years ago. It’s not the best, but compared to other chains the cooks were pretty skilled and the food was relatively fresh and high quality (with some noticeable exceptions).
I probably only go like twice a year but you can do much, much worse. The bang bang shrimp is a great appetizer and the fish marked fresh is always literally fresh and shipped in every other day.
Crayshack@reddit
I'd flip Carrabba's and Outback there.
back-better007@reddit
On a good night Outback is mediocre…
CROBBY2@reddit
Go Flemings. The quality is a big enough difference that its worth it even if the recipient has to pay a little.
MissFabulina@reddit
Yeah. Flemings is good!
Vivid_Inspector3265@reddit
Bonefish...bang bang shrimp
BoydCrowders_Smile@reddit
I went to Carrabba's maybe 7 years ago for the first time for work. Haven't been back. I remember it basically being the same as Olive Garden, maybe a little nicer. My coworker called it "wildly mediocre" and I'd say he was right on the nose for that. Which I'm guessing describes the other 3 pretty well too.
Not saying I wouldn't go if I had a $100 gift card, but I wouldn't expect anything special unless you're idea of a nice, somewhat fancy dinner is the cheesecake factory (not judging)
McBernes@reddit
Ive eaten at all of those except Flemings. Outback has good steaks. Ive eaten several times at Outback and have never had a complaint about the food or service. Ive eaten at Carrabas 2 or 3 times, its better than Olive Garden. Ate once at a Bonefish Grill. One of the cooks was having meltdown that he thought it was a good idea to carry out on his day off in the restaurant, the food wasnt that good.
Out of the 4 id choose Outback.
MonsieurRuffles@reddit
Better than Olive Garden isn’t a high bar. If OP lives somewhere with decent local Italian, I’d skip Carrabba’s.
McBernes@reddit
Im well aware lol. Where i live i dont even think there is such a thing as authentic local Italian food.
Pleasant_Studio9690@reddit
Outback has descent happy hour specials that we really enjoy. Just left there an hour ago. I’d put their food at a 7/10, but it used to be amazing. I’m a big fan of their Wallaby Darned cocktail. I’d probably do Bonefish. Not a big fan or Carraba’s and have never heard of Flemings.
babyidahopotato@reddit
I like Bonefish a lot. They are pretty consistent for a chain. Outback isn’t good like it was 10-15 years ago and the last time I went to Carrabba’s was the last time I will ever go, it was awful. Flemings is good but pricy.
Slow_D-oh@reddit
That sucks to hear, I always liked Carrabba's but I haven't been to one in ages.
pdub091@reddit
IIRC they stopped making stuff from scratch/in house about 10 years ago; unsurprisingly quality dropped greatly around that time.
babyidahopotato@reddit
It could have been the location but I have been to several since I travel for work a lot and they have all gone down hill in my opinion.
Jaqen-Atavuli@reddit
Carrabba's USE to be amazing. Chicken Bryan, Steak Marsala, Calamari, mussels, and that bread. I miss times gone by.
Maybeitsmeraving@reddit
I've never been to Flemings. But Bonefish Grill is actually good. Outback and Carrabas are both mediocre, oversalted, reheated food.
bluejacket_74@reddit
I've never heard of Fleming's and have no idea what they're known for, so out of the rest of them I'd pick either Carrabba’s or Bonefish Grill.
CheesE4Every1@reddit
Flemings.
law_dweeb@reddit
I cant give you an opinion on Outback, you'll have to go to r/AskAnAustralian
TheVentiLebowski@reddit
I took an Australian colleagues to an Outback Steakhouse in the Midwest in the mid-2000s. He was not impressed.
boulevardofdef@reddit
Outback has never actually even attempted to serve Australian food, it's just a casual American steakhouse with an Australian theme. It's not any more Australian than Rainforest Cafe is South American.
law_dweeb@reddit
Not enough vegemite on the bloomin' onion?
Fancy-Still-4297@reddit
here’s an interesting fact - you can not get a burger rare at Flemings (at least not in NC) because they do not grind their beef on site (we used to eat at the Flemings bar regularly). but you can get a rare burger at Outback and the most current menu has a half pound burger that is very good! And the larger Outback burger costs less than the Flemings burger.
sharrrper@reddit
Bonefish is great, Outback is mediocre at best
I'm not familiar with the other two
Weird_Squirrel_8382@reddit
Bonefish is really good and seems more consistent. Haven't tried Flemings. Outback and Carabba have both disappointed me for the price.
OldRaj@reddit
I think the best dining experience and value is Fleming’s. But $100 won’t go far.
Hesasadpanda@reddit
Outback is the worst of the bunch imo. How they're still in business is beyond me
hyooston@reddit
It’s definitely Flemings. There are better steakhouses in most cities I’ve traveled to, but they offer a pretty high quality product for a chain. They use pretty high quality beef and the sides are solid.
qu33nof5pad35@reddit
I’ve never even heard of the others except for Outback. But I’ve also never ate there.
Sorry-Government920@reddit
Fleming's is the best but also the most expensive
SenseNo635@reddit
Fleming’s for sure
ArkansasTravelier@reddit
Outback is near inedible imo, I went there last year after they had a trending cocktail that came with a little crocodile with a shot inside it with outback branding on the croc you got to take home, the drink was whatever but the food was down right disgusting, and I’m not picky or stuck up about food, I’ll eat chilis and Texas Roadhouse every day of the week which is obviously comparable chains, maybe our location is just bad but someone could offer me free meals there for a month and I’d probably turn them down
Special-Reindeer-178@reddit
Never been to bonefish, never heard of Flemings
Outback is absolute garbage though.
TheVentiLebowski@reddit
But Outback steakhouse Extreme is pretty cool.
patty202@reddit
If you like seafood Bonefish is solid. Otherwise, go to Fleming's
mr_miggs@reddit
Flemings
Khaleesi_dany_t@reddit
I've never been to the others, but outback has Aussie fries and blooming onions so I'm gonna say that one
agravain@reddit
Flemings or Bonefish first, then Carrabbas. Outback has gone to shit.
pinniped90@reddit
Fleming's or Bonefish.
outbackcheesefries12@reddit
I am biased on this one, but you know where I stand
Guachole@reddit
Depends what youre in the mood for and how much the card is worth. Flemings > Outback for steak but way more expensive. And I find it difficult to compare steak to Italian or seafood.
Realk314@reddit
right, I'm rarely excited about Italian, or seafood with the exception being crawfish season which i guess is now. So i'd use it on Outback personally you and your wife can use the card and be out probably only 50 dollars or so.
csamsh@reddit
All pretty solid. Just choose if you want Italian, seafood, casual steak, or slightly fancier steak
largos7289@reddit
Well for me it's Carrabba's then outback. Can't beat the polo rosa maria at Carrabba's or the allices spring chicken.
allaboutmojitos@reddit
Bonefish Grill is actually pretty decent, and I live by the coast where we’ve got a lot of fresh seafood. I’ve had some good meals there. Outback isn’t great and Ive never been to the others
thingsbetw1xt@reddit
Bonefish is the best purely for the bang bang shrimp.
ChessieChesapeake@reddit
I'd rate Outback, Carrabba's, and Bonefish about the same. I'd lean toward Outback for beef, Bonefish for seafood, and Carrabba's for Italian. Personally, I'd go with Bonefish out of these three.
I've never eaten at Fleming's, but it looks like it's definitely a higher tier than the other three. If you want to use the card on something a little nicer, go for this one.
Icy-Cardiologist-958@reddit
Either Outback or Fleming’s, the other two are garbage.
Pencil-Sketches@reddit
How much was the gift card for? Smaller amount, go to Outback. Larger amount, go to Fleming’s
Lemon-Cake-8100@reddit
Any of them, just not Outback.
Spyderbeast@reddit
Never had Bonefish Grill
If you're European and know genuine Italian, you might take some interest in how American Italian food differs from the real thing. I've done both Italian Italian and American Italian. Frankly I enjoy both, it's all good food, even if Carrabba's isn't authentic per se
Been a long time since I ate at a Flemings. I do remember being impressed and leaving with a happy belly. But I also like Outback and it is more affordable
425565@reddit
Bonefish has a good sea bass entree I enjoy. But you could get more food at Outback, likely.
nilmot81@reddit
Flemming's is probably the best, but expensive.
If you like seafood, Bonefish is good. If you like Italian, Carrabba's is fine.
Outback is steaks, and the steaks are fine. They have some signature items though, like the blooming onion. I think it's probably the most "American" option.
SnowblindAlbino@reddit
I've never even heard of three of these, and the nearest Outback to us closed almost 20 years ago. So I'd simply look at the menus and pick the one that looked the most interesting...we don't eat at chain restaurants but if it's free, I'd give it a shot.
HumbleLife69@reddit
Fleming’s
worldslamestgrad@reddit
Flemings is a step above the rest here, but you’re definitely paying more. If you’re willing to pay a little out of pocket as well, it’s the best choice.
Otherwise Bonefish Grill is a good option as far as chains go and $100 should be more than enough if I remember the prices right.
quidpropho@reddit
You can also sell the gift card online for like 80% value or more depending on how much you want to unload it.
ChildhoodGlittering@reddit
Where I live it would be carrabbas 100%. Most consistently good of the four and the best value for the money
MountainTomato9292@reddit
Fleming’s is definitely the best, just will cost more. But if you can cover the difference that’s the best option.
e99etrnl17@reddit
Yup
iceph03nix@reddit
I have only been to outback and bonefish, and I'd choose bonefish of the two...
DoookieMaxx@reddit
I choose Bonefish for no other reason than those delicious donuts. Dios Mio
notthegoatseguy@reddit
I would sell the gift card at 20% off and get cash.
r/giftcardexchange
Responsible-Care-388@reddit
They’re all pretty bad IMO
AppropriateDark5189@reddit
We used to go to Bonefish and just order 3 or 4 appetizers. It’s like tapas.
Adorable-East-2276@reddit
I wouldn’t go out of my way to recommend any of them, but Flemnings is the best by far on quality. It’s a classic, by the book American steakhouse, no surprises, you get what you pay for.
Outback can be very hit or miss outside of the onion, every carrabba’s but the original is pretty standard Italian American chain fair, and Bonefish is a solid if unremarkable seafood chain.
All pretty good, all “what you see is what you get”
sierrasquirrel@reddit
Bonefish is my favorite out of those 4- it can be pricey, but the gift card will go further if you go for lunch instead of dinner!
Exact_Friendship_502@reddit
Getting a gift card to a chain restaurant is more of a chore than a present.
PartyCat78@reddit
I have never heard of Fleming’s but Outback sucks, Bonefish is over-hyped and mediocre, Carrabba’s would be my pick. Unless you are an actual Italian. lol
Anteater_Reasonable@reddit
Bonefish Grill kind of slaps. The bang bang shrimp are delicious.
SaucyFingers@reddit
Fleming’s is best but more expensive.
Bonefish is mid-tier. It’s fine, but not something I’d seek out.
Outback and Carrabba’s are Applebees quality, but cheaper than the others.
It all depends how much the card is for.
mbc_7@reddit
It has been a while but carrabbas really isn’t bad
ConfoundedHokie@reddit
I like Crappas really. The Tagliarini or Tag Pic Pac or whatever they call it now is my favorite.
PoopsieDoodler@reddit
I only know Outback. And that’s a hard no.
Imaginary-Gas6000@reddit
No lie I could put 50 down on some bang bang shrimp and not feel too terrible about my decision. Bonefish
Snoo57672@reddit
Outback you can get breaks and your money will go further than Fleming's. Fleming's is an al a carte place, and it's pricey. Good, but pricey.
I've never heard of the other two.
christ_chex@reddit
I've never really been to any one of these myself so won't recommend one or the other, but in a situation like this I would look at the menus and pick the place with the most compelling options that I wouldn't normally seek out otherwise.
CycadelicSparkles@reddit
I think I've only ever eaten at an Outback. But I have a friend whose food opinions I trust and he loved Bonefish.
