I know this is a bit of a grim thought but considering the amount of blind boosterism for Russia I see from some quarters of the world, maybe this and similar events serve as a wake-up call.
Master_Flash@reddit
Wake up call for who? Ukraine does the same to people who volunteer to fight for them. Any person volunteering to fight in someone's else war is asking to be used a meat for the meat grinder. Every foreign voluntary is one less Ukrainian or Russian that has to die. Situation is not much better for mercenaries that join foreign regiments. They get their documents whitheld, are humiliated and then sent to the frontline while the commanders of those regiments profit per head they bring to the war.

Volunteer? Russia press gaged them based on ethnicity with threats of HIV prison rape.

Four months is a very long life expectancy for a front like soldiers. Also how is this any different from the French Foreign legion? There are literally millions of migrants that cone solely for work and want none of that shit. Some go for a quick buck and a shortcut to citizenship so they join the army.
4latar@reddit
you're asking what the difference is between having the option of joining the army as one path of many to citizenship, and being forced into joining the frontlines or dying? are you that dense?
kwonza@reddit
Saying “No” is also an option, you know? Foreign people who join the are looking for a quick buck and it’s their choice.
I know at least five folks who we offered that shit and politely declined.
4latar@reddit
oh yeah, lots of choice here...
kwonza@reddit
Sure, because defectors always tell the truth and would never try to whitewash their involvement.
Reminds me how every single member of Azov battalion that got captured claimed to be “just a cook” not involved in any war crimes
4latar@reddit
so your argument is "nuh uh, didn't happen"?
kwonza@reddit
I wouldn’t say that but I’m certainly doubtful.
usesidedoor@reddit
Deception keeps coming up in interviews with these folks/their relatives, but it's always easier to blame the victims, as you are doing.
Just-use-your-head@reddit
Why are you acting like skepticism is bad? Can we not question our sources? Literally 90% of articles showing anything negative about Ukraine will have comments saying “nuh uh, didn’t happen”

Why they needed to describe his hair and beards smells of an agenda. 🤨
4latar@reddit
oh yes, he has black hair so... um... so what ?
i agree it's kind of weird to say it like that instead of just mentionning he's in a rought state, but what kind of agenda could this possibly push ?
sakezaf123@reddit
Of what agenda? Guy spent almost a year on the frontline and the prison combined, of course he has messy hair and a beard. I think that's what the author was getting at, I don't know what agenda might that have? That russia discriminates against black haired people? That's quite a lot of people, but I'm sure there are black haired native russians aplenty.
Czart@reddit
The Blonde Agenda of course! Al Jazeera over here is pushing the Big Hair Bleach on us. Wake up sheeple!

kwonza@reddit
Угу, угу, что ещё рассказывают? Даже автоматов не дают и надо с мёртвых подбирать?
MrDemonRush@reddit

Are you comparing the Russian military to one of the first nations in WWII to fall against the Germans?
Turkey-Scientist@reddit
Wtf kind of nonsensical reply is this? You managed to sound more ridiculous than the original comment, which is quite impressive.
Not as impressive, though, as the fact you picked the single worst country to go clutch your pearls about regarding WW2 (again, completely out of nowhere).
I regret to inform you that ~80% of German deaths in WW2 occurred at the hands of the (gasp) Russian military
Valokoura@reddit
That was quite interesting take. I didn't know that this is how police and justice system in Russia "recruits" central asian people.
At least it is consistent with other ways of recruiting people like using criminals etc. people who are not wanted by people in power.
