Any tips for first time fuel driver?

Just got hired for pilot flying j fuel haul. This will be my first fuel job. Any tips for rookies like me? I heard good things about pilot and it took me 5 months just to get in thanks to a friend. I'm super excited as this was something I wanted to do for awhile.

Smoke one marijuana as close to your vapor hose as possible immediately after you disconnect it

congrats man, fuel hauling is no joke but pilot treats their drivers pretty well from what i heard. just remember to take your time with connections and never rush the pump-off process - better to be slow and safe than fast and sorry. also get yourself some good boots because you'll be standing on wet concrete more than you think.

Thankfully pilot pays for uniforms and boots!!

Take. Your. Time.
Develop a routine at the rack, at your stops and do it the same every time. When you deviate and get complacent and distracted is when you will fuck up, and it WILL happen.
The best advice my trainer gave me was; if you are at the rack, at a drop, and someone starts talking too you, because it will happen...STOP, and start the process from the beginning, if you are already hooked up too the ground walk through the process up too your current step and go from there, its so easy to make a simple mistake that can turn into an "oh shit" moment.

The field supervisor told me this as well. He told me he always had a routine even when getting out of the truck there was a certain routine. That's how he he's never fucked up for the last 17yrs he been doing it

Take your time and make sure you do things correctly, both in and outside the truck. Fuel is a fairly cushy job all things considered but the consequences of fucking up are very dire.

Take your time and triple check everything you are doing.
