If you want a faster release cycle, then choose a rolling distro. That isn't Mint's purpose.

You can argue that basically any distro doesn't need to exist except Debian and Arch if you wanted. It's just down to preference.

Point of Mint is stability, you can always install cinnamon in Fedora or Arch at this point.

They probably would need a lot of work to get LMDE to par from hardware support to easily load up proprietary stuff when needed.
It can be done, just they need to up the quality of life stuff to be more on par with the ubuntu version
