If you had 2 months off work, what would you want to do?

As title suggests, I'm going to have 2 months of no work for the summer, and I'd like to know what people would do in this situation :)
For context I'm currently on a full time ftc but will be finishing in July and then resuming my part time job alongside uni in september. This will be the first prolonged time off I've had since I started work in 2020.
Would be cool to hear what people would do if they had 2 months of no work! Bare in mind this also means 2 months no income haha and I wouldn't want to drain my savings.
Puzzled-P@reddit
I'd plan to do loads of fun stuff then sit at home in my pants until I realise it's already been 57 days and spend the last few dreading the return to work.

Hi, I start my new job next week after a month of redundancy. This is me.
Sternschnuppepuppe@reddit
Yeh but also feeling guilty about not doing any of the productive stuff I’ve planned.
gameofgroans_@reddit
Just had an (unplanned) couple of months off. This is exactly what’s happened to me and now I regret everything.
PastLanguage4066@reddit
I see you also teach.
OrangeCushion256@reddit
This is the honest answer i was looking for! 😂
carsonstreetcorner@reddit
Do you have a car? Would go drive around France for 4-6 weeks. Can camp or fit out your car to sleep in if you’re that way inclined and want to do it without too much spending!
R3DSmurf@reddit
Run every day
Topaholic@reddit
Go see some new places try some new things like u said don’t wanna drain your pockets dry but find some cheap flights or cheap trains cheap places to stay if you can go see new Places . If you have people u wanna see or spend time with go see em. Just enjoy it best you can . do things you enjoy doing.
Deep_Banana_6521@reddit
sleep so long I feel guilty, then do so little I feel guilty, then 2 months will elapse and I return to work.

Go to Vietnam and sit on the beach

Go travelling around Europe, or if cant spend so much money, go camping travelling across the uk. Peak district, lake district, Snowdonia, Cornwall, do a little tour of the landscapes to reset my brain :)
SavageRabbitX@reddit
I would start a new warhammer Army and actually finish building and painting it in a reasonable time frame
Probably do a 30k Loyalist Iron Warriors or Chimera Black Shields.
summerloco@reddit
I’d Interrail around Europe, could be fun.
A 1 month pass is approx £435 (assuming you’re under 28) which would be your biggest cost.
You could do something like:
London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Salzburg, Zurich, Lucerne, Milan, Lake Como, Nice, Marseille, Avignon, Paris, London.
Then bolt on some hostels and eat/drink affordably as possible - would be a trip many would dream of doing I imagine and would be a great experience even if alone.
reddog_72@reddit
I'm into mountain biking, if I had a full two months off work and didn't have the responsibilities I do then I would pack my stuff and my bike into a campervan and travel Europe doing as many of the bike parks that I could fit in.
However, my situation is such that if I was actually in that situation now, the wife would have me decorating the house and revamping the garden for the next two months instead. I'd rather be at work!
Waste-Box7978@reddit
Travel to south east Asia, super affordable, have adventures
nonotthereta@reddit
If I were fit and able, I'd go cycling across Europe for a couple of months. If you take a tent it's a cheap trip (either campsites or wild camping). It's excellent for mind, body and soul and would give you memories for a lifetime.
RandomPi31@reddit
Travel.
Or if ypu have a passion for a non work subject, study.
fiveofspades94@reddit
Probably a long holiday - 2/3 weeks in japan and afar.
Then the rest of the time chilling (because I'd have no money left after Japan) by reading, starting a big crochet project, playing games, going for walks etc.

Spend savings and travel. Life's too short

i would like to go to the USA to visit my former girlfriend and my sister
VioletDime@reddit
I have done it 3 times, when l changed between jobs.
I made a list of things to do, both chores and fun, and tried to do one of each during the day.
Day one sorted out the airing cupboard that became a dumping ground, and went to a local wildlife centre for coffee and cake in the afternoon. It carried on like that really.
I tried to keep a rough structure of waking and bed times, but there were definitely afternoon naps!
Also, put a tonne of stuff on Ebay and met family and friends for lunch that l hadn't seen for a while. Loved meeting one friend at her office and whisking her off for a quick pub lunch. We both felt like we were bunking off!
MoodyBernoulli@reddit
I had almost two months off work when I was furloughed during Covid.
It was great. Obviously I wasn’t able to do much due to the lockdowns but I got into a really good routine of working out lots and got in the best shape since my teens.
I knew without some stern discipline it would turn into drinking most days.

If I didn't have my child I would book flights to a place with low cost of living and travel.
If I do have my child, I think. I wouldn't get the free childcare those months, so I would maybe do a little traveling with her and then try and make it's majical for my baby.
KinderBoono@reddit
Probably decorate the house and garden
Downtown-Orchid-2257@reddit
I'd have at least one week of doing NOTHING. Hopefully that would coincide with nice weather so the dog and I can enjoy some nice walks.
Then I would declutter my house within an inch of its life. Followed by a much needed deep clean.
Uni wise, I'd start thinking about getting ahead on any reading or studying that needed to be done.
I need to plan free time otherwise I spend it all doom scrolling.
fergie_89@reddit
It's a tough one because it depends on funds.
When I took a month off I completed the Harry Potter game on PS5. Then lost my soul to Skyrim. We didn't have the funds for me to go travelling.
If you have the funds, I would say do Italy, Hungary and Holland.

Buy lots of weed and alcohol and spend the time getting drunk and stoned. And maybe spend a few days a week doing some exercise like going for a bike ride or going hiking.

I just had a gap year by choice and had no income during that time and lived off a fixed amount. My plan was to give myself 'radical rest' and just have a break from working so hard through 3 degrees and my first years of working...so I was getting up when I woke up, naps, breakfast in bed, eating when I'm hungry..just having a natural schedule for meeting my needs without forcing myself into someone elses schedule or an artificial routine. I read piles of books, lay in the sun with my cat, went for long walks, planted a vegetable garden, did a couple of short courses, finished a massive to do list of house jobs and small repairs, and made plans for my life, short mid and long term. I cooked healthy, beautiful meals from scratch, taking as long as I needed to prepare them. I wrote in a diary throughout the day and simply went to bed when I was tired. I plan to have another one in mid life but it was nice just to have some planned time off. When you work, the company's needs become your own and I wanted to ensure I took breaks from that and will do this hopefully a couple of other times too.

I hate to be a saddo nerd, but I was facing this recently and was actually looking forward to doing some volunteering in my local community. Library, clothes bank, food bank, disabled friend that needs help, just make myself useful, meet people, feel good about myself again.
I was almost disappointed to keep my job lol.

if ur interesting and have the money to, go travelling i’d probably spend some time chilling, enjoying hobbies (or finding new ones), few day trips out / domestic holidays or weekends away (flying and me don’t work well so 😭😂), catch up with friends & family i don’t often see etc

Travel.
Karlsberg62@reddit
I'd travel somewhere for a week or two. Spend the other week or two doing some DIY on the house, get some more workouts and plan trips with friends on weekends as I have the energy. Oh and definitely go to a few club nights/raves that you can't do while working FT.

If you have a little savings maybe a bit of travel, explore Europe cheaply.
Thats what I did between the end of my last job and my current one.
I had a month exploring France, northern parts of Spain, a but of Italy, Switzerland and parts of Germany.
Then i just chilled at home for the last 2 weeks.

A cheap way to travel around would be through house/pet sitting, especially with it being the summer when lots of people go away and want their cats or dogs looked after. Try trustedhousesitter.com for a starter, loads of places around the world!
Bitter-Policy4645@reddit
Nothing work related. Maybe some cycling, chilling in the sunshine,/drizel visit some friends, binge whatch shite TV, become better at COD.

I would probably spend most of the time reading and put 3 hours a day into sorting out all the crap I have accumulated over the years to make cleaning my house easier in the future.

Learn a new skill or hobby!
I was made redundant and had no work for 2 months, single Mum, so I couldn't go far. I taught myself crochet from YouTube. I could already knit, but crochet had thus far eluded me. Made a king-size blanket. Still crocheting 12 years on.
zoltan_g@reddit

I had 7 months off between jobs four years ago at 31. Was made redundant and got a BIG pay off so spent a few months relaxing, a couple months job searching/interviewing, and then another 3 waiting to start the new job.
I did absolutely NOTHING and it was amazing. Okay I went on a couple holidays, but other than that I just slept, pottered around, watched movies, played games, did DIY/gardening, walked the dog a lot - just chilled out, relaxed and de-stressed. Opportunities like that don't come along often between school and retirement so enjoy it whilst you can!

I’d invest time in skills or business ideas I’ve had in the back of my mind for a while! Always wanted to invent something , launch a podcast, create a business? 8 weeks at toe own pace is a great opportunity to discover something you might be great at or learn a fun or useful skill. Maybe you’ve always wanted to learn to sew, or row a boat or read all of Lord of the rings ?
Main thing would be don’t waste it - give yourself a goal for those 8 weeks !

Depends how old I was, how much spare cash I had, what my responsibilities were, what I enjoyed doing with my spare time, what my health status was... etc.
Do what YOU want.

Probably plan out a bunch of camping trips. Find out where all the best trails are and what not. I don't see enough of this country really
