I was told my sandwich belonged here...

A buddy of mine and I have a disagreement about if this is a bad sandwich. I think it's a respectable sandwich he thinks it's shitty.
Abittragic@reddit
Now I want to try that damn pickle de gallo 😂 too much lettuce for me but hey it sounds far from shitty now that we know whats in it.
Ibshredz@reddit
Im eating it idc
Ibshredz@reddit
Sandwich looks good too
fishstock@reddit
What sandwich? That's just a handful of lettuce.
Terrible_Reporter_98@reddit (OP)
Look at the second picture, it's got chicken, cheese, onions, olives, lettuce, and a couple tablespoons of that pickle-de-gallo stuff from grillos which is the bomb, highly recommend it. Topped with extra virgin olive oil, a mix of malt vinegar and red wine vinegar, Italian seasoning and black pepper.
Wr3ckless13@reddit
Now that I know what's on it, it sounds really good. Especially the pickle de gallo. It's just the ratio of ingredients that I don't like, but I'm sure it tasted good.
Young_Bu11@reddit
That sounds really good
SamhainOnPumpkin@reddit
It looks amazing.
catchmelackin@reddit
it's pico de gallo 😶
Terrible_Reporter_98@reddit (OP)
Nah, this is pickle-de-gallo from grillo's
https://www.grillos.com/product/medium-pickle-de-gallo/
Highly recommend it's the bomb.
Dragon_Small_Z@reddit
Yeah I'd eat the shit out of that. Grillos stuff is incredible
drewsephstalin@reddit
Looks and sounds delicious
EngineeringAgile1640@reddit
I also like an excess amount of lettuce on my food i eat lettuce with.
CatadoraStan@reddit
Is that a sandwich? It's harsh to tell under the forest of greenery but it looks more like a wrap. If it's a wrap, it's a fine wrap.
SwaggyB1@reddit
Other countries exist
Terrible_Reporter_98@reddit (OP)
That was another point of contention, it's a pita. Which I think makes it a sandwich my bro said it's not a sandwich it's a salad pancake...
CatadoraStan@reddit
I'm going to side with your bro. I feel that fundamentally a sandwich requires two pieces of bread.
SamhainOnPumpkin@reddit
Nah. If you cut only what side of a baguette and stuff it, it's still a sandwich.
swerve_navigator43@reddit
It’s a flatbread
Rich-Pomegranate1679@reddit
So if I put peanut butter & jelly on one slice of bread and fold it in half, that's not a sandwich? What the hell would I even call it if it's not a sandwich?
fschwiet@reddit
It's a pb&j taco
MagnetHype@reddit
No because a hotdog is a sandwich.
DarthBrooksFan@reddit
A hot dog only has one piece of bread. Sandwiches have a minimum of two pieces of bread. It's implied by the name -- to sandwich something, you insert it tightly between two other items. You can't sandwich something with only one other item, and you can't make a sandwich with only one piece of bread.
IcyPossibility925@reddit
I could sandwich your head between my thighs but I’m still one piece.
Stag-Nation-8932@reddit
A hot dog bun is two pieces on a hinge
Terrible_Reporter_98@reddit (OP)
Look up a greek style pita sandwich, it's definitely a sandwich.
Hoovooloo42@reddit
I also believe that a hotdog is a sandwich and so is a burrito, but I think you're on pretty thin ice here regarding its sandwich status
It's not that there's a salad in it, it's that there's a salad on it. The filling/bread ratio is right on the ragged edge imo
I'd definitely eat it though, it looks delicious
35_Steak_HotPockets@reddit
Burritos are sandwiches??? You have to explain that opinion bro
kaveman0926@reddit
You explained it yourself It's an opinion 😅
Hoovooloo42@reddit
Thanks for that, exactly hahaha
35_Steak_HotPockets@reddit
Oh yeah I know it’s an opinion, I just wanted to hear an explanation cause it’s interesting lmao. I hear where your filing form though honestly, where do you feel able bagels though? You can usually at most bagels open faced or closed so are they sandwiches or pizzas? It’s tuff
Hoovooloo42@reddit
I think people look too closely at the ingredients when they talk about sandwich categories, you gotta factor in how it's eaten.
Food that you hold in your hand that's surrounded on most sides by bread, which contains meat and vegetables that would be inconvenient to eat with your hands if the bread wasn't there keeping everything together.
That's a burger, that's a sub, that's a burrito, they're all sandwiches imo. You eat all of those in pretty much the same way and they're the same idea with different ingredients.
And I'll go one further and say that "open-faced sandwiches" are pizzas. If you hold one with a solid grip the same way you do a real sandwich then you're just gonna have a handful of ingredients.
Terrible_Reporter_98@reddit (OP)
A uncooked pizza?
MagnetHype@reddit
Meat or veggies wrapped in bread.
CharmyLah@reddit
I just did and every single picture has the ingredients inside the pocket of the pita bread.
This is like... a flatbread idk
kaveman0926@reddit
Gyros, rolls and pockets. Claim the name but dont fit the description 😅
Rodrat@reddit
I'm of the chaotic opinion that anything in or on bread is a sandwich.
Pita? Sandwich Hotdog? Sandwich Taco? Sandwhich Pizza? Also sandwich
Terrible_Reporter_98@reddit (OP)
I'm with you 💯
Orchid_Significant@reddit
Pita is not a sandwich
kaveman0926@reddit
Sandwiches required that your ingredients be sealed within two pieces of bread That's a pita taco
lockecole38@reddit
Sub sandwiches is a loaf that is opened up but not split and it therefore is one piece of bread.
Terrible_Reporter_98@reddit (OP)
Is a taco a sandwich?
kaveman0926@reddit
Nope, and neither is a sopito, butrito or tostada. You got tortas though 🤷🏽
KittiesRule1968@reddit
Your friend is an idiot. I love a sandwich with lots of veggies in it.
_Red_Knight_@reddit
I've often seen arguments about what is and isn't a sandwich and it appears to be a cultural thing. In my experience, Americans seem to call any bread products with a filling in them a sandwich (they call hot dogs sandwiches, they say "chicken sandwich", etc.) whereas Britons would define a sandwich more narrowly as filling between two slices of a normal loaf of bread (i.e. hot dogs and burgers are not sandwiches). I don't know where other cultures stand.
Jude_Austin@reddit
This is clearly a salad.
murasana@reddit
That looks good ngl
bbonezbby_@reddit
If a hotdog isn’t a taco, would that make a hoagie a hotdog?
InitialAd2324@reddit
Crispy and fresh, would eat
gilly_girl@reddit
That's a haystack, Mr. Ed.
Terrible_Reporter_98@reddit (OP)
priyatheeunicorn@reddit

Terrible_Reporter_98@reddit (OP)

Smackalicious@reddit
You obviously need more hands
CatJebusPepsi@reddit
Looks delicious 🤤
Synthesis_Omega@reddit
That's a 🌮 and a really bad one
Gronodonthegreat@reddit
This is why I follow this sub
To put my two cents in: if a hotdog classifies as a sub sandwich (I think it should), then I have to classify this head of lettuce with a piece of bread near it a sandwich.
wambamwombat@reddit
hotdogs are tacos.
TheNakedBass@reddit
Only if it’s in a tortilla.
intwizard@reddit
I looks like it probably tastes good, but I have a hard time calling that a sandwich. So I’ll say it’s a bad at being a sandwich but not an unreasonable thing to eat.
Jah348@reddit
This is a salad with some bread near it.
UnderstandingWeak292@reddit
Some “bread near it” had me laughing
UnderstandingWeak292@reddit
Some bread in the vicinity

Apocalypse_Meowww@reddit
Latter_Cry_7849@reddit
Did you ask for extra lettuce?
Terrible_Reporter_98@reddit (OP)
I made it so not really
links135@reddit
I like veggies too so as long as there's enough sauce its probably fire, just unusual. Not really for this sub.
If anything, make it a burrito so its easier to add sauce without spilling accidently.
Nazmaldun@reddit
Where the sandwich at?
Terrible_Reporter_98@reddit (OP)
SouthPawArt@reddit
I think my biggest problem is labelling it a sandwich.
ulnek@reddit
Where's the sandwich? I just see shredded cabbage
novian14@reddit
if vegies > bread, then that's a salad.
if bread > vegies and vegies are wrapped/place in between the bread, that's a sandwich.
that is a salad with bread for me, maybe just add another slice of pita bread so the filling isn't overflow like that and you get 2 sandwiches instead
Terrible_Reporter_98@reddit (OP)
But...The overfill is the best part it truly enhances the eating experience.
novian14@reddit
Make it 2 sandwiches and it's more satisfying for me XD
primadiamonds@reddit
Why even bother with the bread?
Terrible_Reporter_98@reddit (OP)
It's easier to eat

MrFabuland@reddit
I just ate a taco with half an onion on it, so yours look fantastic
Terrible_Reporter_98@reddit (OP)
Just onion?
MrFabuland@reddit
Well, it had ham, ketchup and spinach too lol
thegreatimmaculate@reddit
The real argument is in the comments
Supper_Champion@reddit
I know "open-faced sandwich" is a concept that exists (probably created by some loser with only one slice of bread), but words have meanings and this ain't a sandwich. A pile of stuff on a bread product does not a sandwich make.
Terrible_Reporter_98@reddit (OP)
I actually love open faced sandwiches, you get chip beef gravy and it's on.
Fledermausmann69420@reddit
Sir, that's a salad in a pita bread. 😐
Supper_Champion@reddit
But it's not even in the pita, it's just piled on top. Next someone is going to try and claim half a bagel with cream cheese is a "sandwich".
Terrible_Reporter_98@reddit (OP)
That makes it a sandwich though, because of the bread right?
Fledermausmann69420@reddit
Whatever floats your boat, sir.
hollowbolding@reddit
sandwich (alleged)
Lagunamountaindude@reddit
That’s not food
Terrible_Reporter_98@reddit (OP)
I ate it...
Lagunamountaindude@reddit
Did you put some dressing on that salad
Terrible_Reporter_98@reddit (OP)
It's a sandwich, no dressing but I did pour some olive oil and red wine and malt vinegar on it.
Worth-Drink-1464@reddit
honestly, that don't look too bad to me lol. sometimes simple is best! what’s he think is so wrong with it?
Terrible_Reporter_98@reddit (OP)
He thinks it's a pancake salad and rabbit food.
TraditionPhysical603@reddit
Stuffed pitas are called arayes. Or a stuffed pitta. While it is a type of sandwich calling it a sandwich is asking for a argument

The fibre bomb!
AmericanBeaverWoodCo@reddit
Iceberg lettuce has actually very little fiber. It's over 95% water. In 2 cups, which could be a little more than pictured, there's about one gram of fiber. For comparison, a normal sized banana would have 3grams of fiber about.
RetroSwamp@reddit
I think that's cabbage my guy.
AmericanBeaverWoodCo@reddit
They're pretty similar, I would reckon ice berg may even have less fiber than cabbage. When reddit adding its own AI like X so I can be like hey Reddit Grok what more fibers got
RetroSwamp@reddit
Cabbage has tons of fibre tho...
AmericanBeaverWoodCo@reddit
Well relative to iceberg over double but compared to something like beans, cabbage still pretty low, all leafy stuff is relatively low fiber.
I got the fiber datas from the AI systems lmao
Per 100g serving
Iceberg Lettuce 1.2g Cabbage 2.5g Black Beans 7.5g Navy Beans 10.5g
RetroSwamp@reddit
Ohhh no
2Braincell2Furious@reddit
It referenced the USDA for cabbage number, at least.
Abandonedstate@reddit
I'm going to need a much smaller fiber banana for scale here. I'm having a hard time picturing it.
Terrible_Reporter_98@reddit (OP)
This guy fibers, I'm getting enough i chuck some chia seeds into my morning smoothie.

Simple-Man-7358@reddit
I'd say it belongs here but, to me, it looks good and I would eat it. What's all on it?
Terrible_Reporter_98@reddit (OP)
Chicken, olives, onions, pickle-de-gallo, cheese, seasonings, olive oil and vinegar, and just a bit of lettuce.
KratosOfSparta08@reddit
Is that all just lettuce?
Terrible_Reporter_98@reddit (OP)
There's chicken, cheese, pickle-de-gallo, spices and oil and vinegar on it as well.
