Pilot Flying J is terrible now because it’s owned by Private Equity

The quality of everything is sliding because they’re trying to fleece it, then destroy it.

Pilot flying J is owned by a publicly traded company. It isn’t private equity at all.
Brilliant_Sound2596@reddit (OP)
I’m pretty sure it’s owned by Berkshire Hathaway, and that is publicly traded.
desktrucker@reddit
Yeah that’s what I mean. It isn’t private equity

AI lied to me, then.

Petro is the best followed by loves. The only thing I didn’t like about loves when I drove was the fact they were typically smaller and most didn’t have a tv lounge. I could watch tv in the truck of course but I liked the social aspect of the tv lounge; we spent enough time by ourselves as it was.
Wicell@reddit
I've only been to two Petros I'd consider good. Wilmington, IL and Dodge City, AL. It seems like BP is just waiting for some kind of accident or natural disaster to happen at every other TA/Petro location so they can write it off and be done with it.
hellbillyjoker@reddit
Every time I was in a trucker lounge it was Fox News on and boomers yelling about Trump. If I wanted to hear crazy bullshit id go find a homeless guy.
MustangMark83@reddit
Better than the Clinton News Network
hellbillyjoker@reddit
Shut the fuck up you brainwashed cunt.
MustangMark83@reddit
Loves would be better if they ever had more than 20 parking spots. They’re always tiny
Virel_360@reddit
I’m kind of the opposite, why would I wanna spend more time with truck drivers as a truck driver myself. The driver’s lounge is not where I would be congregating/hanging out. But that’s just me.
Loves is my favorite of the main mega chains.

Why are the shower floors slippery af?
voyerruss@reddit
More paid parking spaces less free parking spaces on every lot, and the new app update totally sucks *ss.
KillerCookie23@reddit
It’s been slower and has more bugs. Really annoying considering my job relies on this app almost every day.
Individual_Wasabi669@reddit
Screw pilot, loves for the win
MustangMark83@reddit
Have you found a loves that doesn’t have all 20 parking spots full by 3pm?
Individual_Wasabi669@reddit
Bro, I’ve been to a pilot in kansas city with 3 free parking spots ONLY
Other 10 is paid parking. Loves Next door had a huge lot

Go to the Indian owned truck stops tell which one is better.
TheFringedLunatic@reddit
I’ll take the Indian owned truck stop over PFJ. Yeah, the shop inside is tiny and cramped but you can usually find some pretty good shit. Hell, there’s one in Michigan I went to that I need to find again, they had some quality vape juice dirt fucking cheap.
Freightliner15@reddit
Big Apple in Joplin is nice.
KalTheo@reddit
These are the only two truck stops I won't even consider stopping at. Didn't know they were same ownership.
jabber1990@reddit
How the fuck did you not know that?
RarestCornet@reddit
More likely the plan will be to load it up with debt, bankrupt it, and then redevelop the real estate through an affiliated entity.
jabber1990@reddit
I doubt it, most of the property is worthless
Microshlongg@reddit
I’m afraid loves will be under the private equity firms thumb in five years
jabber1990@reddit
Yup
Goldleader-23@reddit
I mean yeah thats what PE does. Enshittification for increased profit
NostradamusJones@reddit
Yeah, fuck PE.
azziptac@reddit
Bro just got his license...
Been happening for years now my dude.
cwhite225@reddit
They’re not trying to fleece it. They are finally remodeling stores and turning some into One-9 truck stops. I get the paid parking problem. But clean up and maintenance of the parking lot ain’t cheap. The company went from the good ole boy way of doing business to corporate. Also there are a lot of independent pilots that set their own prices.
thewafflewarrior135@reddit
Gave me the worst food poisoning you could imagine.
Never again
Brilliant_Sound2596@reddit (OP)
Me too! I was at the Pilot in San Antonio and got one of those half chickens. After a few hours I had violent gastrointestinal distress that lasted a whole day.
forkystabbyveggie@reddit
I've always gotten lucky with them so far
DoctorZebra@reddit
As much as I despise private equity, I'd be hard pressed to argue that the Haslam family was any better.
username_fantasies@reddit
Haven't looked up the fact they may be owned by a private equity, but did notice how quality of their stuff is going down. Pumps don't always work right, the app errors out all the time. It all makes perfect sense now. They are indeed under private equity.
nastyzoot@reddit
I mean....ol Jimmy Haslam only owned 20% of it when he was caught stealing money from brown truckers. Just saying. It's been a shit company for a long time now.
