What do we think about these electric mopeds/motor scooters?

I personally think these look really damn fun to zip around town on! 🛵🔋⚡💨
However, would you personally recommend electric mopeds/motor scooters (or whatever these kinds of electric vehicles are referred to) like these? If so, which brands/models did you own or test ride? What are the pros and cons of these electric scooters? Would you get one of these again?

No pedals so not bikes.

Look closer… fyi that’s the difference between a motorcycle and a moped… mopeds need to retain the ability to pedal, and in gas mopeds especially the pedal function is often how you start the thing

Facts from your butt. Neat. There are plenty of mopeds with no, none, zero, zilch pedals…F…Y…I… LOL.

I have the isinwheel h7pro. It really goes 35mph on flat roads. Range is ok. I was able to do a 14-mile round trip to the beach and back. The downside is that it's heavy and struggle going up a steep hill. You have to walk it, lol.

Good to know. No thanks to walking it up a hill, though.

They aren't ebikes and should be treated like motorcycles/vespa style scooters- license/registration/insurance.
Maybe if they are lower powered, limited to 15 mph- no license/insurance etc.

I've got a "vintage" Yamaha EC-03. It's perfect for urban errands, but the range is very limited at this point.

Looks like a sweet ride, very limited range aside.

It's super easy to park, has surprisingly good handling and goes far enough to run errands. At some point, I'll rebuild the pack, but for now, it's good enough.

Goofy, funny, not worth the money in my opinion, you are very limited on where you can go

I have one that’s effectively like an old school moped, but I removed the chain and locked the pedals flat. Only things I’d like is 5mph more to get up to 35mph and more range. It’s a great city commuter when I prepare ahead of time with ample charge.

What model is it that you have?
PickleAlly@reddit
The Juiced HyperScorpion that I misspelled in my flare. Company went belly up though. Lectric bought them, and likely no support for older bikes.

Love ‘em but call them what they are e-motos

I think they are great. They require a license, registration, and insurance and can only be used on streets. Cleaner and more practical than their ICE counterparts.
Odd-Lime-2738@reddit
Some of them are alright, but you’d get better info from a dedicated motorscooter sub or one focused on that brand (like Piaggio).

Biggest negative is the changing legal landscape. If you buy, you may be required to license and insure and obtain a motorcycle license.
Personally, no exercise is a bigger one to me. Ebikes enable you to get exercise of pedaling without physical limitations of being out of shape and making it up a hill. Health cannot be underestimated.
I love the look of the moto-style like Super 73, but no seat height adjustability means you throttle everywhere.
precocious_necrosis@reddit
These are all mopeds/motorcycles. Not bicycles. They can't go on trails or use bike lanes and you probably need a motorcycle license and insurance to use them on the street.
They are probably good alternatives to ICE mopeds and motorcycles, but not really what this forum is about.
