I still drive the same 1986 F-250 I had in high school… patients and other doctors make jokes and call me a cheap bastard while I’m out in the parking lot fixing my own transmission or making my own diesel while they buy $100,000 cars every other year.

I run a lot of this stuff. 1: its decent ammo and I like it. 2: dirty and sparky. 3: I dont think it's Magtec based on my Caniks extractor. It wont extract this but runs magtec steel no issues. So after scratching my head I went back this weekend with a few box of steel magtec 115 and 124, no issues as always. This stuff while its runs fine in all my other guns with the exception of 1 FTE on my 320 which has never had a malfunction before, my canik was about 90% fail to extract. I get they have the same head stamp but my canik back to back tells me there some difference in the case. Either way if your gun likes it, I would run it again.

The thousands of turkish 124gr and brazilan 115gr Monarch ammo I'm running across many firearms havent given me any major problems and I dont care if I get a couple light primer stricks out of RANGE Ammo on 1 or 2 particular guns I have. Steel will wear down your extractor more. It will be a bit more dirtier than brass. But imo the offset of lower price per round is worth it compared to brass.

I only shoot steel in my Glock and I have not had an issue of failure to feed or failure to eject.

Monarch steel is rebranded Magtech and is good quality. If you shoot 250rds per range trip at $0.18 cpr you will save $15 per range trip compared to $0.24 cpr for CCI Blazer Brass. 10 trips to the range thats $150 saved.

I shoot this out of my staccato HD for USPSA. I’m at like 2500 of this steel through it. I highly doubt it’ll break my extractor any sooner than blazer. If it does, I’ll just warranty it 🤷🏽‍♂️

You'd basically have to shoot 1000 rounds a day over an extended period of time to actually wear out your extractor shooting steel. I'm over exaggerating to a degree but I've got one gun that's literally never seen or will ever see brass cased ammo that's about 3K rounds in without issue.

We are talking about 25000rds+ of brass for a Glock 19 extractor to wear out. So maybe in 15-20 years of steel you'll need to replace the extractor if you shoot Glock. 😂

The difference in wear is minute. Same for the difference in it being “dirty” (most range ammo is “dirty”, and some people on this sub fixate on that way too much). I’ve also personally shot somewhere around 10k rounds of the steel case with zero issues, meanwhile I had three fairly major malfunctions across a thousand rounds of Blazer brass (and looking into it, I’m not the only one) which some people love around here. For context, maxing out this promo (getting $300 or as close to it as you can worth to trigger the 10% off) puts this at 20.2cpr and maxing out the monarch brass puts it at 23.2cpr for me (both shipped with tax). Thats a difference of $30 per case/1k rounds right now, and the extractor on my carry gun runs about $30 so the savings of one case covers it and that extractor is probably going to last for 20-25k+ rounds.

Oh boy…I had to do a deep dive and there are several reasons. 1 money…they resell the brass and the steel lowers the value because it’s harder to separate etc. 2. Greater fire hazard because the bullets themselves are “bi metal” and sparks when hitting the back stop as well as they are harder on the back strap causing more long term damage etc. It’s common for them to check for steel casing, tracers and exploding rounds etc.

There is definitely a difference. The BPS are spicier and dirtier. I shoot suppressed, and it makes a difference.

The BPS is good for breaking in new guns and springs, but for a regular easygoing day at the range I prefer the less gas to the face and a little less recoil.

The steel case is good to go, just repackaged magtech. You’ll want to avoid the 115gr brass case in 50rd boxes since it’s Turkish. The 250 round boxes are still good.
