Anyone else find sex drive since 50 is going in the wrong direction according to what I see advertised?

So I have endless blue chews and low t cures inundating my life yet my problem is the opposite. Seriously driving my wife nuts because I’ve never been more attracted to her. Can’t perform like 30 years ago but damn!
Dragonnuttz@reddit
Still waiting for my sex drive to go away....instead my hair line went instead....my lower back and hips can't keep up.
CritterOfBitter@reddit
I’m hornier than ever.
assi9001@reddit
And people get confused when men become unhappy in middle age, get divorced and remarry a woman 10-15 years younger.
imalloverthemap@reddit
Women aren’t confused-it’s called hitting menopause and the sex drive takes a nose dive
Equivalent-Speed-631@reddit
Mine didn’t!
5andaquarterRound@reddit
Yeah. Late 40s and now 50 I am hornier than I was in my teens and 20s.—like a million times more. I’m wired backwards I guess. Wish I was single so I could put it to use—wife went wild at first when I turned on (enjoyed it for 4-6 months) but now not so much. Feels like a cruel trick has been played on me…sexually more alive than ever but tied down in marriage with kids and a semi-interested wife I love too much to cheat on.
obstreperousRex@reddit
So, be 54. Post complex prostate surgery and on antidepressants. Couple that with a smoke show wife who has a high sex drive and an inability to perform.
It’s god awful.
Alana_Piranha@reddit
Your wife has a high sex drive and inability to perform?
obstreperousRex@reddit
Of course not. But, yes l, that sentence makes no sense. I have the inability.
Suspicious-Yogurt480@reddit
My dude. Please look into prosthetic options like sleeves etc. There is a way forward with treatment.
Actual-Tap-134@reddit
57 and wishing my my husband had any interest at all. I can’t even remember the last time we had sex, but I can get aroused just thinking about it. Once my kids grew up and left the house and menopause finished, a whole new world opened up.
Dr_Alexis@reddit
Menopause killed my sex drive
Actual-Tap-134@reddit
During it was bad for me, but afterwards, the drive came back and then some!
Dr_Alexis@reddit
Hmm. I'm just not sure how that makes sense physiologically. I also have clitoral atrophy from perimenopause, and no longer have decent sensation. Just feels kind of dead.
Actual-Tap-134@reddit
I don’t know about the physiology, but I think a lot of it for me is about the freedom from kids, from the horrible periods I had, the hot flashes, etc, and the confidence that’s come with age. After 5 decades, I’m comfortable in my body, and I feel like a woman first, rather than a wife or mother. None of that matters, though, when my husband has no interest.
I’m sorry you’re struggling so much. There are way too many of us with unsatisfactory sex lives!
RustedRelics@reddit
If not already, he should see a urologist and have a full hormone panel done. Could be a relatively simple way to increase his sex drive and equipment performance. It’s important for your relationship. I went and it was worth it.
Actual-Tap-134@reddit
He was diagnosed with low testosterone a few years ago and they were trying a cream, but he just lost interest in even using it or trying to fix the problem. As much as I wish he were interested, we have an extremely loving relationship in other ways, and he does a lot for me in our lives together. He works a physical job and is tired and hurting a lot as a result, so I’m still holding out hope for retirement!
wcevelin@reddit
treating the low t would help with his being tired and getting overly sore from the job.
he should seek treatment

KraytsClaw@reddit
Divorced 4 years ago after a 22-year marriage, and I'm turning 53 next month... recently found myself in a relationship with a beautiful 37-year-old lady and oh boy yes, the sex drive is working just fine! LOL
Top_Shoe_9562@reddit
Sadly, yes..
VictorChaos2005@reddit
I still have a healthy sex drive. It’s my wife whose drive when to zero once she turned 50. It’s really hard to cope with sometimes.
Bitter_Ad_9523@reddit
I see those dumb ads all the time. Does it really work. Some of the ads talk about helping increase your desire (seem it for women as well which I feel is bunk).
MaenHoffiCoffi@reddit
I have absolutely no libido. It's miserable.
IceSmiley@reddit
Did you used to?
MaenHoffiCoffi@reddit
I did indeed but trauma and divorce shredded it. Tis a miserable tale as old as time!
Kooky_Werewolf6044@reddit
My testosterone levels are probably in the single digits and my insurance won’t cover anything so I have no drive at all it sucks
Intelligent-Pair-988@reddit
I think what a lot of men don’t realize is women around this age are getting hormone therapy. The testosterone works!!! Highly recommend. Now just need to find a man….

UberBricky80@reddit
Well, hope you find what you're looking for!
PepsiOfWrath@reddit
Wait, like for perimenopause? Serious, non-creepy Q. Did you find an online clinic or local?
Intelligent-Pair-988@reddit
My doctor prescribed it after a blood test. Honestly, makes you understand teenage boys a lot better.
PepsiOfWrath@reddit
Interesting. My wife's doctor basically told her feeling like crap and being tired all the time is totally normal. Don't want to try to spam local doctors trying to find a solution, so started poking around online specialty clinics.
bluecrab_7@reddit
Feeling Ike crap is not normal. Find another doctor or use a telehealth provider. There are plenty of telehealth providers for HRT and testosterone for women. I use MIDI for HRT and Amazing Meds for testosterone. Both take insurance. Midi doesn’t prescribe T in my state so that’s why I had to find other provider.
I’m 61 - sex drive and energy are back and my sleep is the best. I do exercise and eat very healthy, cut out alcohol, coffee and sugar so that helps.
hazeldazeI@reddit
She needs a different doctor
Numerous_Pickle461@reddit
Widely available online if her doctor isn’t listening to her concerns. Alloy, hers, fountain to name a few. HRT helped with my moods, joint pain, sex drive, and tiredness. It’s not a cure but it helps. Fuck muscling through it.
PepsiOfWrath@reddit
I forgot about the joint pain. I didn't realize it could help with that too. Thanks for the other recommendations. I'll take note of those.
Intelligent-Pair-988@reddit
That is very frustrating! There are a lot of new studies coming out about how HRT is actually good for women. Sure hope she can find a doctor to help her.
hazeldazeI@reddit
My doctors group has a menopause clinic, was able to get estrogen and progesterone pretty easily. Definitely check around! There’s also a ton of telehealth places.
Techchick_Somewhere@reddit

I just need to know when they’re gonna make blue pills for women. It is really unfair that as we are losing all interest, men are getting pills to make them want it even more!
carolinabean75@reddit
HRT including testosterone!
Pristine-Speaker-768@reddit
I lost interest and almost all sensation and sex is painful. It's miserable and I hate it. I've been on low dose hrt for over a year now and im not seeing any improvement. I agree, where is our blue pill. Unfair if you ask me. I had mo idea these kinds of changes come with menopause. It's bullshit.
RaqMountainMama@reddit
I started HRT for hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, & exhaustion. It helped my joint pain, skin, hair & sex drive too. I highly recommend trying it out. I had about 10 really fun years after the kids were sleeping thru the night & could make PBJ's & life got easier and before the hot flashes started. If I had realized how well the HRT worked, I wouldn't have waited so long to try it.

I went voluntarily celibate (volcel? 😂) after a bad breakup10 years ago at 40. Even though I’m over it now, the sex drive just never really came back. I have moments of desire, but then I think of how would I even get a girlfriend these days. Not worth it for me.
rorykavanagh13@reddit
Great year to be born dude.
Don’t rule out meeting someone. Forget dating sites etc, why not say hello to someone. Strike up a conversation. You’ll never know where it might lead.
Bright-Form730@reddit
Yes it was a great year. Childhood in the 80s/teen and young adult in the 90s.

I'll be 58 in a few months. My drive is there but I have issues with ED after bladder cancer so I'm not always UP to it. That being said though,, I am currently being pursued by a young lady in her 30s and she does put more than a tingle in my shorts.
imbrotep@reddit
I can treat the performance issue successfully with meds, but nothing seems to enhance the libido, unfortunately.

Wife 50 and I am 51 ...My wife had a hysterectomy 7 years ago due to endometriosis after having 3 kids. Since then nothing, zip, nil. I went to the gym 3 years ago, put on muscle, lost some weight, fitter than I have ever been. Sex drive came back with this. But I am just a co- parent, uber driver, and just share a bed. So yeah... I am good to go... But I don't even get to see her naked anymore. FML
Haunting-Scratch7872@reddit
If the kids are grown up enough. Discuss openly with your wife. Put it on the table. Anything you think you need. Don't go down that fucked depression cycle of settling just because. And battling misery. I was resigned to an unhappy life for too long, and got waaay too depressed Now Im 40 divorced. After trying various things with ex. we amicably split. I got a hot 26 yr old gf now and I have not needed Viagra since I met her. Trust me if you meet the right lady your primal side will be there to back you up. 💯

Few-Pineapple-5632@reddit

NvGable@reddit
For the same reason I would say about either sex. There could be something medically wrong. Maybe, there is something she could do. Maybe, she can't, who knows.
Communication is vital in healthy relationships.
FrequentMembership76@reddit
She no longer has sex organs so this shouldn’t be surprising. If she’s not on HRT her body literally can’t make the necessary hormones to feel attraction. And without HRT she’s experiencing physical changes that make sex painful. Not to mention the mental shift of no longer being fertile. Without HRT she’s also invisible experiencing rapid deterioration of most bodily systems: cognitive, cardiac, muscular, skeletal. Men, if this is you and your wife isn’t on HRT, do whatever you can to change her mind on that.
GSG2150@reddit
I’m in the same damn boat man. Same procedure and everything.
Yummy_Castoreum@reddit
Nope, the ads have my number. Sex drive fell off a cliff around 50, and ability to perform ended shortly thereafter. Last two times I tried boner pills they didn't work, so I gave up. Am starting T replacement therapy soon -- but if it restores sex drive and not the ability to perform, that's the worst of all worlds and I'll go off it.
rared1rt@reddit
Drive for me in my early 50's has never changed. I am always interested in being intimate with my wife. On the other hand her in her early 40's her drive has fell off a cliff.
Me ideally twice a week, accepting but disappointed twice a month.
Her ideally on occasion, accepting but not excited once every 2 months.
It sure makes for a rough road to navigate.
Sex/intimacy just makes the world such a better place to navigate for me.
Happy for those truly living their best life and hopeful for those of us that are struggling.

I'm female and I think this is the highest my sex drive has ever been.
BmanGorilla@reddit
What's up with the male/female thing as of late? I always felt like man/woman seemed nicer, but the internet loves male and female. The dog on the bed is also a female, but I'm more into women :)
obviousreasons1@reddit
I think it’s okay to say “I’m female” as an adjective, it I hate when people refer to women as “females.” “Females always” this or that. Gross.

Why take those placebo "testosterone boosters" when you can see a doctor and get actual testosterone shots?
thebronzeprince@reddit
Because you have to admit that you have a problem to another person, and have to wait for them to give you a solution
TeaVinylGod@reddit
It's not really a problem when almost every male has it drop after 45
cosmoboy@reddit
My ability is not what it was, but everything works fine, just need recharge time. I do have some issues with the desire to have sex. I think that has more to do with the girlfriend than me though.
hordaak2@reddit
Yes...recharge time is key. My doctor says sleep apnea is the biggest factor in that "recharge time"....getting a C pap machine in a couple of weeks..
Few-Pineapple-5632@reddit

Yes. Being a mom took it all out of me but once she hit her teenage years and needed me less and less, my energy started to bounce back. I’m 53 now and can’t get enough. It’s really fucking disconcerting.
MikeyRidesABikey@reddit

I have the Sex drive of a teen-ager but my wife turned asexual after the kids
AcesAnd08s@reddit
Same
bigtakeoff@reddit
anecdotal evidence seems to indicate that this is quite common and likely more the norm than the exception
Few-Pineapple-5632@reddit
The responses here go against the norm. Most people, men and women experience a drop in sex drive as they age and hormone levels fall. In addition, a large percentage of men experience prostate issues and women who have menopausal vaginal changes find it impossible to continue having frequent sex and most doctors aren’t on the hormone replacement wagon.
esp735@reddit
Late bloomer here. (For lack of a better term.) I was always attracted to women, but sex was just a fun result of dating them. I got married at 26. Then I turned 30, and suddenly it was like, “When did women get so hot?!!” 26 years later, and it hasn’t let up.
Opening-Squirrel-433@reddit
Zero issues. Over an evening good for 2-3 shots if that opportunity arises still. Can last 10-15 mins once going and loads more experience at 57. I’ll take it
Automatic_Project388@reddit
I won’t say it has waned, but if we wait too late, I have trouble staying awake. That didn’t used to happen. If the possibility was on the table, I could stay awake for it.
BigJLov3@reddit
I treated myself horribly when I was younger, and thought I just had a low sex drive. In my 40s I decided to turn my life around, and while getting healthy my libido strengthened.
Now I'm constantly horny. But I'm single, introverted, and have all the grace and charm of a salvage yard, so it's all potential energy, no kinetic energy.
zoot_boy@reddit
Nope, horny as ever. LOL.
ole_gizzard_neck@reddit
Im about to hit 50 and mine has waned a skosh but that's following 3 years of rabid sex that compensated for 10+ years of none. So, I am having a hard time deciphering where my real baseline is. Partner's libido is similar and we are the same age. Hormones are wild.
James_T_S@reddit
Over the last year my wife's libido has gone from close to zero to 100 mph. I just got a prescription for Viagra just to try and keep up.
will_c_73@reddit
53, married (gay), and no drop in libido so far. Strong as ever, still have morning wood every morning, healthy masturbation routine, and a bonus is my stamina has improved. I think it's due to being more comfortable with my body and not getting overly anxious about sex. I will say, in the last 5 years I've had maybe 2 instances where I lost my erection mid sex. I didn't worry about it, we laughed about it actually, we just continued on to other things and within 5 minutes or so I was back and ready for action. Zero medications.

The GF and I (49/50) are hosts at a swinger/sex club and the demographics are definitely tilted in our direction.

foxyfree@reddit
I think that’s why the blue pills are so popular. The men DO still have their libido but they just need that extra blood flow to work better. Before trying a supplement it was really frustrating when my husband would want it more than he could actually perform.
InadmissibleHug@reddit
Yeah, if you can’t get a free stiffy, store bought is fine.
Better living through chemistry, right?

We were having issue with my wife’s libedo dropping, mine has always been much higher at any rate so when hers dropped it became an issue
Now she is in HRT things have improved, the chalked now is her clit is very sensitive, like I have to avoid it. And in the weirdest compliment she has told me my penis is a bit on the large side and for the first few minutes can be uncomfortable till everything adapts.

This is the wonderful thing with Reddit. You think its just you and Whoa, there's a whole community.
I quit the tech world and went into real estate and renovations. Buy fix sell stuff. Sex drive is back to my 30s. Thought it was because I'm not sitting at a desk all day and instead moving around. At 56 just installed 2,500 sq ft of flooring. There is no way on this planet I could have done this 10 years ago.
Wife hates it. So that's unfortunate.
Really unfortunate
NvGable@reddit
The 2,500 sq ft of flooring? Or the sex?
No_Wrap_9979@reddit
I think “installing 2500 sq ft of flooring” is a sex euphemism. Like “laying pipe”.

Wife is post menopause and has lichen sclerosis. So, low sex drive, coupled with something that makes penetration hurt.
I'm not upending our lives to chase a woman with functional junk, but I'm not happy. I'll get counseling, and im not keen on sex with someone I'm not in love with, like I still am with my wife.
BallsOutSally@reddit
I hope she is treating her LS accordingly.
I also have LS and use both clobetasol (to keep the LS from flaring) and estradiol (to keep the skin more elastic.) Plus, UberLube for sexy time—when it does happen.
AcanthocephalaOk8052@reddit
She tried. Her provider didn't explain the estrogen cream dosing, and she ran through the tube in 3 weeks. The LS isn't responding, and our last attempt in February was stilted, and though it was initiated by her, it was so awkward because of her fear of pain, I bailed out of the situation, because there was nothing sexy about it.
I also have read extensively about menopause and LS. And looked at pictures of LS. I do not see myself feeling arousal about anything to do with what she's got going on.
BallsOutSally@reddit
Oh No! I’m so sorry to hear that. Sadly, it isn’t a surprise to me she didn’t get the proper information from her provider.
I don’t know if your wife is on Reddit but there is a sub specifically for those of us with LS. If she isn’t, the Lichen Sclerosus Support Network is an invaluable resource.
What you can find online photo-wise, is the worst case scenario and of women not treating the disease or treating it improperly. Many of us have been misdiagnosed for years by physicians ignorant of it. I lucked out by having it spread to areas beyond my anogenital skin, so I found a knowledgeable dermatologist who diagnosed it right away and got me on an aggressive treatment program to minimize the damage done.
It definitely threw my sex life on the backburner for a while but once my skin was healthy again, I just set up some strict ground rules in order to minimize any potential issues during sexy time. It has taken the spontaneity out of things a bit but we manage through it.
Anxiety is a joy killer for sure but that doesn’t mean it has to be a permanent fixture in your lives.

Interesting! I’ve learned so much from this posting. I didn’t know the two were unrelated. I think Gen X was/is very ignorant on this stuff, our parents generation wasn’t known for a lot open communication.
Samwoodstone@reddit
My dad used to talk about that. He said it was almost like his teen years. I wonder if it might not be evolution. Maybe since we men typically die early, what if our bodies are programmed to start screwing everything female one more time before we shit the bed?
We humans are programmed to live and reproduce at all cost. I believe that sex was made to be so good because the outcomes are so extreme.
Ok-Dragonfruit-715@reddit
Please don't take this the wrong way, but you need to be checked out by a doctor. A lot of men with cardiac issues start out with ED first.
Grimholtt@reddit
I think you misread what he was saying. He has the exact opposite issue. No ED. Teenager levels of lust with no need for pills.

Husband has lost his libido for now.
It exists but is very rare and I miss it at times. But I’m in healthcare and understand sexual health has phases. We comfortably and openly communicate about our sex life so we know we’re cool and still kiss, snuggle and love our chats and dates.
We’ve talked about introducing testosterone, but he’s shared concerns of cancer risks and reactions with his Rx meds, so for now we’re good. And have agreed that if either starts to feel not good, we talk to a doctor.
OctopusParrot@reddit
There's more of a risk for cardiovascular disease with testosterone supplementation than cancer. If his CV health is good and his testosterone actually tests lower than normal for his age it might be worth looking into.
Desperate_Gold6670@reddit
As a man on T for over a year, you might want to do more looking into the T/cancer connection...it's not as strong as once thought, and he may be risking heart/bone health moreso than the cancer risk. Also, the energy boost is huge. At the same time, libido skyrockets so....there's that.
Notjewel2@reddit
Appreciate your knowledge. Will definitely share this with him.

Estrogen receptor positive breast cancer has done a number on my wife.
PunkTuba@reddit
Unfortunately many people don’t know hormone receptive cancer almost always mean no HRT. It’s hard rawdogging menopause when you see comments of how amazing it is & knowing you can’t be part of the club.
Careless_Ocelot_4485@reddit
I was on HRT to deal with all this before being diagnosed w ER+ breast cancer. It’s an absolute no-go now which sucks since it was helpful dealing with all the menopause symptoms. Felt 25 again.
PunkTuba@reddit
Ugh, can’t imagine benefiting from it & then having it taken away 😩
Estrogen is female fuel & without it, in some ways I feel like before I went through puberty & developed estrogen. I wish I could care about sex but I can’t, the tank is empty but I go through the motions for my husband. I don’t think I could without Estradiol.
Not too different from men developing ED when on certain heart meds, BUT those men have WAY more Rx options than breast cancer survivors going through menopause.
Catnip_75@reddit
She can still safely use vaginal estrogen. There is a lot of scientific data showing that it is safe and does not increase breast cancer.
PunkTuba@reddit
Estridiol can definitely address the physical issues with sex (pain/dryness) & is deemed safe. However, it doesn’t help with the other physical, mental & emotional menopause issues.

After HRT it’s the same as it always was, and with very little gap in the timeline. Just long enough to figure out it was time. ONE hot flash and a little mental fog and I was at the doctor. I made that decision years before it happened.
Best part is the actual sex is WAYYY better than earlier years. Because we don’t give a fuck anymore. Insecurities went out the window years ago. Every weekend peeling the paint off the walls, scaring the dogs, leaving aftermath I have to pick up before the housekeeper gets here on Monday. 10/10

My sex drive has changed (55 m), and so has my wife's (53 f). We still make love once a day. This does not always include include intercourse or genital stimulation. It's a bit more like dancing tango. We just go where we feel like going.
awrythings@reddit (OP)
I gotta ask how you make love without genitalia stimulation? Is it a tantric thing?
bodhi471@reddit
I've never taken tantra classes but do a lot of focused meditation. This helps me focus on where my energy is and to my wifes reactions to my touch. She does the same in kind, so every part of the body. We also have conversations about how things went, especially if it didn't go well. It's not as if there is no genital stimulation (difficult considering male anatomy) we just don't always go there.

ab39z@reddit
At 60, I'm still much more interested in my wife than I've been led to believe I would be. I might have the same drive I had in my 40s, or close to it. I will admit I don't have the stamina I once had. Finally, that might be a good thing. I don't need any chemical help. Just a couple minutes of "admiring" my wife has me ready to go. And, mornings are always "upstanding." My wife, on the other hand, has no real interest at all after having taken cholesterol meds for years and blood pressure meds since getting the c-shot in '21. Each one is bad enough on sex drive. But, both together is a death sentence. At least, she humors me a couple times a month and I try to make it worth her while.
So, I guess, in answer to the question, I wouldn't say my sex drive has increased, and my wife's has decreased. But, mine is definitely greater than I thought it would be at this age. What do I know? I have no experience at this. I've never been this age before.
awrythings@reddit (OP)
Haha me neither, I too was somehow led to believe this wouldn’t happen.
LolaAucoin@reddit

Covid-19 vaccine. She had a mild stroke three days after. No damage or lasting problems. But, she instantly became a heart patient and has to take meds for high blood pressure (which is actually only slightly high).

Same here. My T and drive is ok. I’ve taken good care of myself all my life and I’m enjoying the benefit of good health and strong libido now. Seven spinal surgeries, a couple years of opiate painkillers, and then a couple more years on Sertraline treating depression likely stemming from the chronic, excruciating pain killed my sex drive dead. I got off everything a few years ago but the trouser mouse remains in a coma most of the time. I wonder if I've suffered permanent nerve or neurological damage.
Now if I want any hope of performing, I need to take a Sildenafil, and even then 80% of the time I can't climax, which makes my wife feel bad, even though I always get her there.
Sucks for me. Sucks more for my wife. I am extremely unhappy with the idea that the last time we've had sex is already in my past and haven't given up hope yet - but damn it is not easy to get it together when the equipment is so damned unreliable.

In 2021 I had two massive surgeries resulting in my neck being fused from C3-C7 and my Lumbar fused from L2-S1. I've got three, foot-long scars from it all but it also completely resolved my pain. I'm just no longer very flexible. Kind of have that 1989 Batman thing when I have to look from side to side.
As a result, I can walk just fine. I actually walk my dogs for a good mile every day, mow my own lawn, etc - and I don't need pain meds. I might take an aspirin once a week for the odd headache.
Unfortunately, I think the damage done along the way has completely fucked certain aspects of my physiology. It kind of sucks. But I am grateful to be free from that awful pain. That alone is a huge win. Most people in my situation don't have such a positive outcome.
Wanna see something gross? This is my wife yanking a foot long JP drain out of my neck after my cervical fusion. Had to do it at home because it was during that big storm that had everyone in DFW stranded at home with the power out. https://youtu.be/060HdV6WEPw

56 and having the best sex of my life by far. My lady and I have been together for 6 years and we get it on once a week, though if she was up for it I could definitely do more
SynXis_ps2@reddit
My wife and I are both 52. My libido is still good, but hers is very low. And the few times we've tried to have sex in the last few years, it always seems so uncomfortable for her to the point that I couldn't enjoy it. Even before that, we were only having sex maybe once every few years. So I think I'm resigned to the fact that sex is pretty much over for me.
rosievee@reddit
As a woman of approximately the same age: testosterone shots. I had clitoral atrophy (horrible) and my sex drive was so completely absent post hysterectomy, I couldn't even imagine how I ever enjoyed sex. T makes me feel alive and present again like I was at 30. It's incredible in every way.

SeinoMore@reddit
At some point in my 50s I looked into supplements for semen production. You can find discussions on Reddit in other subreddits. Basically, zinc had a noticeable effect. I even started getting a greasy skin and spotty back like a teenager along with the semen quantity to match. Arginine and Maca supplements also had noticeable effects. If interested, look for discussions as my approach was not scientific.
I had a pretty wild time in my 50s and had more girlfriends than my teens and twenties combined and did everything I ever wanted to do. I have some great and crazy memories.
The real problem is that even though the mind is willing the equipment starts to fail. I could reliably finish in 5 minutes alone by hand, with my girlfriend I just couldn’t come to a happy ending. I ended up sore after lengthy sessions even which happily exhausted her. We had a lot of fun trying.
So, definitely, I would advise anyone in their 40s to make the most of it. Keep fit and you’ll have great 50s too.

Oddly, the drive itself just fine for both of us.. Peri-menopause is an issue, mainly due to unpredictable moods and cycles. And on my side... I'm just overwhelmed with life. Nevermind the kids, dogs, and distractions that add up past the moon. Not to mention the legitimacy of the memes that always say "marriage is one of you rolling over to sleep at 8pm while the other doom scrolls for the next three hours"

I'm curious, for those that had active sex lives and libido through your 40s... Did it start to wane at some point, and when?
I can still go 2-3x a day (wifey is rarely up for it that often, though) and honestly I want it even more often than that some days... But wondering if I should expect a slowdown at some point.
Spodson@reddit
Yeah, there are times I feel like a pest to my wife. Seriously woman, how are you going to be parading around looking like that and not expect attention. I haven't needed a pill or any kind of treatment for my response. I'm not 24 any more, so it's not I'm looking for five-a-days anymore. But I'm down to party more often than she is.
TheZuckuss@reddit
Yup. Doctor says I have very high testosterone. I think he said normal average is 300-600 and I'm at 890-some. Drives my wife nuts. I'd be dangerous if I was thin and not losing my hair. 😉
Dino_Spaceman@reddit
My average is over 1,000. I definitely want it more than she does.
Civil-Resolution3662@reddit
I'm 55. My Testosterone was counted at 1500. My girlfriend cuts me off sometimes or is too sore from the night before. However, the electric signals don't always go from the big head to the little head, so I always prep with Viagra before I see her, just in case we get to it. Normal range for guys in our age range should be about 600-750. You're doing good at 890.
TheZuckuss@reddit
Surprised you're not walking around with a perma-boner!
Civil-Resolution3662@reddit
I pretty much am. Franky, it's kind of annoying. I wish I had another sex only arrangement that I could play with when the girlfriend is not available. As it is, I jerk off pretty much every day we don't see one another.
ParticularDance496@reddit
I’m surprised with all the socials nowadays. I remember when Viagra first hit the commercials, someone who looked like Wolf Blitzer or John Roberts from the other side was promoting it. Now on TT, FB, or IG, these ladies looking mid 30s are saying how it saved their marriage, and guys who are obviously decades younger than us are saying these pills, chews, or gels are lifesavers 🤦🏻♂️. No issues for me even when the wifey wants to get loud, we head to the local no-tel motel with the vibrating beds, and it’s still a quarter 😅.
I am concerned about millennials. I had two coworkers before I left the grind who were starting TRT, both in their 30s. I asked my doc for the test to check, and I’m still above normal, full head of hair, no giant forehead but I am a winter wheat color now, could be from chemo or radiation therapy. I like to attribute this through clean eating, exercising, and walking away from the stressors of work. Now I’m a dedicated chauffeur and snack runner for our 9-year-old.
Numerous-Positions_5@reddit
I’m 59, things are still working fine. My wife, on the other hand…I try not to pressure her. It just pushes her away, and I don’t want that.
Someoneoverthere42@reddit
Eh, recent round of radiation and chemo have pretty much ended that. Which would have mattered if a lifetime of anxiety, depression, and untreated ADHD hadn’t made it a moot point anyways.
If I have to be depressing , I like to share it.
MassDelusion101@reddit
Strength train: lifting took my dead libido and woke it the hell up at 57/58. Unfortunately I can’t act on it (well, I won’t) with another, but there’s a lot to say about self love and learning the ins and outs of your own body.
ChatamKay@reddit
I’m 53. Natural high testosterone. I’m masturbating twice a day while my wife struggles with menopause and trying to balance her hormones. It’s not fair. She often feels like shit.
Is anyone else absolutely obsessed with their wife? Embarrassing to share perhaps but, I fantasize she is sleeping with someone else while I watch and it’s making me crazy. This just started in the last 5 or so years. I had always assumed I would be into young women or something as I got older. I never imagined it would be my wife that makes me crazy. But here I am. Constantly aroused and thinking exclusively of my wife and her pleasure.
1wouldbethelonliest@reddit
We cant keep pur hands off each other even though menopause has been a real challenge for her. The fact that I'm absolutely obsessed with her has definitely helped her through some of it.
And I opened up to her about 10 years ago about my hot wife fantasies after first exploring her hotpast. She's knows shes allowed to flirt with anyone anytime she gets the chance but she hasn't really taken me up on it. Hoping it will happen someday.!
ChatamKay@reddit
I’ve shared my thoughts with my wife. Like your’s, mine is struggling with getting feeling better. I had no idea menopause was such a kick in their ass. She’s been on HRT but still trying to find the correct.. whatever to really get feeling like herself again. We’re working on it.
Sharing her has basically been my entire inner sexual dialogue for years. Reddit doesn’t help. We’ve been married over 25 years. Neither of us is going anywhere until we put one of us in the ground. We’re seriously discussing doing it once she gets feeling better. We feel like there is very little to lose and so much to gain. The kids are grown and out of the house. My libido is off the charts. I just want to watch her have an amazing experience, walk him out while thanking him and then spend a few days in bed with her myself.

You and me both. I feel all the symptoms of low t (tiredness, slower to build muscle, irritable, etc) except for sex drive. Each year I get my testosterone levels checked but they are normal. Each year I hope it is low because that would explain all the other stuff and can maybe be addressed.
ChippyVonMaker@reddit
There is a huge divide between general practitioners and TRT clinics as to what low testosterone levels are. The acceptable range also drops as you age so that you can be suffering symptoms and still be within range.
r/testosterone is a good place to start if you’re interested in what is what.
Just know that your general practice Dr isn’t typically going to offer TRT and the guidelines regarding levels are outdated unless you want to spend your life feeling like crap everyday.

I am not at all saying that hormone replacement therapy is not valid: for the people who need it it can be a godsend. But I'm convinced that all of the Blue Chew/whatever the fuck Alex Jones is peddling type of advertising is yet another symptom of late-stage capitalism. Convince people that they have a problem, offer them a cure for the "low, low" price of whatever, and rake in the cash as the insecure dumbasses buy your crap. Seriously, the Blue Chew ads with sultry-looking women young enough to be our daughters with tight t-shirts with the product logo stretched across their bra-less chests are skeezy as hell. I doubt that a legitimate medical treatment would go with that kind of ad.
And if that didn't make me mad enough, hormone replacement therapy is gender-affirming care. But the chuds who likely buy this kind of crap are a-okay with gender-affirming care as long as it affirms their own gender, but raise hell if a trans person seeks the same. The hypocrisy sickens me.
If you think you'd benefit from hormone replacement therapy, by all means see your doctor about it. I think that it has the potential to improve people's lives immensely. But stay away from the snake oil salesmen like Blue Chew.

My wife and I are VERY much nearing 50 and we are going nuts. She's well in the trows of menopause and I have a combination of a spinal cord injury and non existent t count. I experiment with supplements until I found one that helped with the t count. I also got some performance enhancing drugs from hims to help with the permanent nerve damage. My wife is loving it because it's probably the best consistent sex we've had in over a decade. We joke, we're not doing it like teenagers, but we're definitely doing it like we're 30 again.

Women are not the only ones who benefit from HRT, hormone replacement therapy, and some of those include some testosterone which can turbo charge a woman’s libido. Now on the man’s side, significant low testosterone is a major factor in a drop off in sex drive. If you’re feeling like it’s gone completely or negligible, you need to go visit a Doctor Who specializes in this and they can test you for testosterone levels. When I had mine checked, it was so low it was approaching levels only seen in hypogonadism, well, we reversed that pretty well over the course of a pellet injection treatment, coupled with, yes, Tadalafil, which works better than those little blue guys, and when you put all that together, create the right environment, make an effort, and you have a willing partner who’s ready you just have to practice, practice, practice and eventually you’ll wonder why you ever stopped.
