Chip butty if its on sliced bread, pretty much universal all across GB. Chip cob if you're in the Black Country and moving North Chip Roll if you're south of that

Funnily enough, I know it from a south coast (of England) pub, that had a Scots landlord. On Sunday evenings they used to have a near-endless supply of chips in bowls on the bar, and plates of sliced buttered bread, and customers were invited "to make your own piece", on the house. This was some time in the 1980s. I haven't been back there for over 20 years, but I loved the hospitality.

If it's on flat bread it's a chip butty. If it's on circular bread with a domed top it's a chip muffin or barm. Everything else is wrong. A cob has a thicker crust. It's very rare you'll see these being used as the casing for containing chips A roll is what you get hotdogs in. A bap is just a stupid word and shouldn't be used.
