Hello guys, what is an good budget GPU I can pair with an i5 10400?
t90fan@reddit
how budget is budget
what refresh rate and resolution do you target
and what are your goals in terms of quality
60-series (or whatever the AMD equivilent is) card would be fine,
run a 4070Ti with my 11700K and find its a good match
Your CPU is a bit weaker, and thats not a budget card
So maybe 5060/9060XT for you?
Onemoreuserdoesnot@reddit
most budget gpu's can go ok with it, except the 50 series gpus ( because of the budget options being pcie5 x8 ). Where are you from, what is your budget?
xM4nt0sx@reddit (OP)
It's for my relative. He has one of those Acer pre-built pc with an integrated GPU. He didn't tell me his budget, but I'll just assume €200-300. Germany.

At this pricepoint, 4 options
https://www.pccomponentes.de/grafikkarte-asrock-arc-a750-challenger-se-8gb-gddr6-dual-hdmi-dp-oc for 214 ( weakest, about a 3060 to a 3060 ti, more of a 3060 )
https://www.alza.de/onix-odyssey-intel-arc-b570-gddr6-10gb-d13237399.htm for 221 ( a bit better than the previous one )
https://www.alza.de/onix-odyssey-intel-arc-b580-gddr6-12gb-d13237398.htm for 250 ( between a 4060 and a 4060ti )
https://www.galaxus.de/en/s1/product/xfx-speedster-swft210-8-gb-gddr6-graphics-card-35840110 for 250 ( about a 4060 )
If we can go above 300 we can get a 9060XT 8gb or a 5060 for about 314

Ok, just remembered that you said an acer pre build, and if it's an tc 895, this uses a proprietary board and psu ( seems to be a lite on 500w unit usually ). Ask him to see if it have a pcie 6/8 pin conector. Seems like most of them have exactly 1, but check it please. Also check if it have rebar/resizable bar in the bios if the answer for the previous question is yes
Onemoreuserdoesnot@reddit
Ok, just checked here the bios for the possible pc and it have no ReBar, so no intel GPUs without a bios mod ( which i Can easily do if you guys confirm the model, but no matter how simple of a mod it is, there's a risk ), only option would be the AMD 7600 then IF this is one unit with the 500W psu with a pcie conector, check this out then.

Yeah it's this on PC
Onemoreuserdoesnot@reddit
This have an horrid power supply usually, so no gpu upgrade if you don't change that. https://www.ebay.com/itm/396777630737 should work with it though, but, as you see, it's price is not good. Then we would also need to find a low profile gpu that would work with that. there's the option of simply getting a 3050 6gb or an a310 ( in that case we would need rebar bios mod ) and calling it a day, no need for new psu, but like, i dont like this option. Then we could get a 5050 or a 5060 low profile, and also get the psu. 5060 would put us close to 400eur though, so it's a no go. So, psu and 5050, about 300 euros, Is it a worthy option? That's for you to decide.

In case you just want to throw a gpu there without much care, the a310 and the rtx 3050, keep in mind that for the a310 you will need a bios mod and to flash it, quite easy to do, but with the but's I said. It's a 100USD difference though, so can be worth if you just want the cheapest thing that can play games. If you take that, contact my pm that i will provide it for ya.

What's your budget and location?

aragorn18@reddit
Before you suggest a GPU, confirm what power supply he has. What's the rated power output? Does it have a PCIe cable to power a dedicated GPU?
If you need to replace it, confirm that his motherboard uses a standard 24-pin ATX power connection.
xM4nt0sx@reddit (OP)
He has this on PC
Without the 1030 GPU tho
aragorn18@reddit
Sadly, that doesn't answer my questions. You'll need to open the PC to get the answers.

I'd get that b580. New, warranty, good little GPU for 1080p gaming.
Adis_Gruntledfatty@reddit
Suggestions are a waste when we dont even know your refresh rate and resolution.
What would work best for you entirely depends on this context.
xM4nt0sx@reddit (OP)
This is the base PC
144hz and 1080p is what he wants
John_Mat8882@reddit
I have a 3060 Ti with that CPU, but with 3200mhz ram. It holds it up at 1080p but not if you go into DLSS, or better, it depends on the game.
If you have slower ram maybe I'd stop at a rx6600/3060ish.
misteryk@reddit
3060 12gb rx 6650 intel B580 depends on local prices
PembyVillageIdiot@reddit
Do not get a B580 or 6650xt with a pcie 3.0 CPU they only have x8 pcie!!!
Vaxtez@reddit
https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-radeon-rx-6600-xt-pci-express-scaling/26.html
6650 XT on PCIe 3.0 is fine. It's only a small performance loss compared to PCIe 4.0. Obviously this example uses the 6600 XT, but the point stands.
PembyVillageIdiot@reddit
Look up what happens when you run out of vram on a 3.0x8 bus which is a real possibility for these budget cards with cut down vram amounts
Vaxtez@reddit
Used RTX 3070
AscensoNaciente@reddit
RX 6600 or RTX 3060 is the optimal choice. They both match the i5 10400 and do not bottleneck excessively on 1080p resolution. When your budget is restricted, consider the RX 6500 XT second hand or the GTX 1660 Super. Some titles might experience CPU limitations beyond that point.
Impossible-Move-2096@reddit
For an Intel i5‑10400, the sweet spot GPUs are the RTX 3060, RX 6600, or RX 6700 XT — they’ll give you smooth 1080p and solid 1440p gaming without bottlenecking your CPU.
PembyVillageIdiot@reddit
Due to having a pcie 3.0 cpu you are going to want a gpu with the full X16 pcie connectivity regardless of performance. Basically a midrange gpu from any generation or a new 9060xt. no b580/b570, 5050/5060/5060ti/4060/4060ti/6600 ect as they all have x8 pcie
RareWestern8229@reddit
Depends on your budget, your psu and case constraints and where you're located, but the best gpu I wouldn't go past is a rtx 3070 if it's for 1080p
