Last year i was in budapest and while walking i saw black official looking car with sirens and lights, i couldn't make out who was in it but there was a man inside smiling and waving from the window. In my country the president is driven around very similarly to this and you can spot it from time to time if you are lucky. This was a year ago but it came back to my memory because of the election you guys had recently. Was this someone important??

Only government vehicles are allowed to use blue lights and sirens (unless they’re in a museum, on a film set, etc.); I usually see at least two or three cars accompanying important Hungarian politicians (I suppose partly so that if one breaks down, they can switch to another). It’s also possible that there was an official foreign guest in their own car; Hungarian officials don’t usually wave or smile from their cars. It’s very difficult to say, from such a long time ago, exactly what kind of guest was in Budapest at the time—if it was even public info.

The black offical looking cars always transports some policital figure. In my opinion it can be Viktor Orban if he was old. It definitely wasnt Péter Magyar

If it were Orban, it would've been a motorcade of at least 4 trucks and his favourite multivan.

Yes, this was before he won.

this the the most doubtful part of the story. I can't imagine any officials happily waving at random people

Or smile. We hungarians never smile. Especially at random people.

It's usually some top level government personnel. Although the waving part is quite unusual. I've seen them a few hundred times already, never saw them waving to the people before.
