Us tac nerds use alot of gear to squeeze out as much as an advantage as possible, but at the end of the day Bullets from a 3000$ gun build and bullets from an old coach gun are going to hurt the same amount
Then blasts one home intruder with 2 rounds of buckshot, liquifying their face, and mag dumps the second with JHP’s from a surprisingly modern antique. Both shootings ruled as justified.
I had a sling with a shell carrier like you've got there, but I nixed it because the weight swinging underneath the gun would pull my aim off. Not a problem if you're strapped into it, but you can't always count on having textbook form in a defensive situation.
Browning Hi-Power Mk.2 and a double barrel? Fuckers are doing more than just getting off your lawn, they’re bowing to praise that absolutely immaculate grip on your HP.
Pro-tip: Put a recoil pad on it. The case hardening in the CZ Hammer Coach is gorgeous, but RIP your shoulder after firing both barrels. It's +100 foot pounds of force and you will have bruises.
Source: I tried this with magnum loads...once. That thin little metal buttplate cushions nothing.
It's a 1961, it was my late grandfather's CCW. I swapped out the original hammer with a commander model BHP to reduce hand bite and I continue to carry it in his honor.
I own a musket for home defense, since that's what the founding fathers intended.
Four ruffians break into my house. I shouted, "What the devil?"
I grab my powdered wig and Kentucky rifle, and blow a golf ball sized hole through the first man, he's dead on the spot. Draw my pistol on the second man, miss him entirely because it's smoothbore and nails the neighbors dog.
I have to resort to the cannon mounted at the top of the stairs loaded with grape shot, "Tally ho lads!" The grape shot shreds two men in the blast, the sound and extra shrapnel set off car alarms.
Fix bayonet and charge the last terrified rapscallion. He bleeds out waiting on the police to arrive since triangular bayonet wounds are impossible to stitch up.
Ah yes,
Just as the founding fathers intended.
Someone broke into her house at night, she used a laser pointer instead of a gun because she didn’t have one (I assume), guy ran away when they saw the laser. Laser = were bullet will land (probably) so they ran
Trauma kit looks to be the standard one from Stop The Bleed, which is a reputable org (though could be a knockoff from Amazon, since some of those try really hard to look like those).
I’m not sure about the shotgun setup, I feel like having the shells on the stock there may not be as fast to reload under stress as one might think, but unless it’s multiple determined intruders I highly doubt more than 2 shots would be needed (assuming decent aim).
HBO in the 90’s had a documentary on guns. One episode followed a man who used a single shot shotgun to stop an intruder. Basically removed most of the intruder’s head.
I own a double barrel for home defense, since that's what the founding fathers intended. Four hooligans break into my house. "What the devil?" As I grab my 'who farted?' hat and trusty side by side. Dude narliest gun I ever shot was an old break action short little 12 gauge, during a long weekend of getting totally wasted we thought hunting for well whatever was a fine old idea, even though 5 mins in we had to take away one dude's gun after he drunkenly discharged it somehow missing himself and us, in the entire time my friends made fun of me for my silly little pretend gun until I shot it and then everybody stopped and was like what the f was that
I don't know maybe it's because the barrels short or something... As I tried to put my shoulder back in place still kills me I've got well over a hundred and something guns and that little s is still the f** gnarliest thing.... weird
I saw a Massad Ayoob video where a guy was forced to defend himself with a single shot top break 410 shotgun with a single deer slug. One shot and it went center forehead and ended the threat.
I have small trex arms and I shoot a lot of clay with this gun (I have a set of 30” barrels) and cowboy action with this 20”, so I feel more comfortable and confident with it than my Colt M4 or benelli m4
stop the bleed is most of the time free and very good from what i’ve heard, taking a free class this july cause it’s so helpful to know this shit even if you aren’t involved in the military or jobs like that
The ammo on the stock is better than the ammo on the sling. It adds a lot of weight to the sling and trying to retrieve shells from the sling under pressure is basically impossible.
The sling is birdshot since it’s also my SHTF kit, but for HD if I can’t do it with 6+2 rounds of 00 buck and 13 of 9mm, I’m just gonna retire early if you get my meaning
Oh yeah, that dbl hammer is also not gonna get missed at cocking time.... It's setup to catch no matter if ur fingers. Sleeves or whatever. I've got 2 old ones like that... They r sure fire, and user friendly to grab
I mean it’s not optimal but it’s not the worst either. All it’s lacking is quantity of shots compared to more modern options but it has exceedingly high class.
Because you're going to be defending your home from what? How many people do you honestly think are going to kick down your door and pile in? More than two rounds of buck and 14 from the pistol can handle?
THIS 👆🏽 While I do own various “battle” arms for home defense this set up is more than good enough. Folks be acting like they’re going to be defending against a squad of kitted up burglars 🤣🤣
That grip on the Hi-power is fuckin sexy and has me hot and bothered.
Also I wouldnt have thought a flashlight could work on a double barrel but it kinda fucks
Alright you Primitive Screwheads, listen up! You see this? This... is my BOOMSTICK! The twelve-gauge double-barreled Remington. S-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about a hundred and nine, ninety five. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?
Other than the fact that he needs 3 more tourniquets for the trauma kit (one for each limb) (which most people don't even consider when it comes to home defense), I see no issues with the kit. I prefer more than 2 shots with a shotgun, and a Highpower is more or less obsolete as far as weight and capacity goes, but that is just my personal preference.
Nothing at all wrong with either gun, although I wouldn’t choose any shotgun for home defense, personally. To each his own. At least he’s exercising his rights.
What's there to roast? Simplicity and function. Home defense will happen at close range, that's why it's called home defense and not open field maneuver defense. You telling me a shotgun and a 45 aren't gonna get the job done?
In high school, one of my friends defended his home with a single shot 12g. The idiots breaking in the back door might still be running. All it cost his mom was a new window for the door.
12g, in the right hands, is an excellent defense gun.
Dude the Belgium made hi power is about the most widely worldly used early semi auto. Reliable, great accurate gun, double barrel.... I assume med kit 4 u... Med kids aren't needed for people shot with a double barrel.... People over think things... Kind of like how much time do I have to get in the car and get the f*** out of Dodge and do I have gas and food and the kids so yeah "kiss" principal, I'd have a hard time deciding on 1 single handgun but I promise my hipowers, even the 60s models would be in my top 3-4 probably top 3, especially after 1 of my brand new 19x shit the bed into mag fukin 1..... Never believed it could happen... 9mm 556/223 12 22 those r everywhere, then into 762 x51 x39, 45 etc.... but 9mm 22 12 r rekkies for living in zombieville
I will: ammo on a sling is objectively a bad idea. If it's loose it will swing around and interfere with your aim, but it's too wide to easily fit in one's support hand to hold it steady.
Ammo on a sling is also objectively cool / badass, so it's a tossup. Maybe wear it cross slung over shoulder as a belt. Then u get cool madmax / old west AND non intrusive firing lines or obstructed issues... 2x cool
The only issue I see, if you ever have to use it, most likely it’s gonna cause you & friends/family hearing damage. Thats my personal concern and I have no good solution.

Roast it? I want it.
Freq37@reddit
At least you’ll look cool when you get fucked up.
RabicanShiver@reddit
What's there to roast? Simplicity and function. Home defense will happen at close range, that's why it's called home defense and not open field maneuver defense. You telling me a shotgun and a 45 aren't gonna get the job done?
Comfortable_Guide622@reddit
Its excellent, the high power is a good enough if you don't have a 1911 ;)
mimsy2389@reddit
James Bond defended Skyfall with similar.
BadTiger85@reddit
So are you trying to protect that Stage Coach from 1881 Arizona?
Uncle_Chael@reddit
With this kit you can fire two blasts in the air multiple times
Distractible_Corgi@reddit
No

Shotgun too long
Living_Chapter_8193@reddit
Honestly, I want one so... no roast from me. Im not saying its optimal, but its not like it hasn't been effective for 150 years.

Nothing wrong with a double barrel for HD.
In high school, one of my friends defended his home with a single shot 12g. The idiots breaking in the back door might still be running. All it cost his mom was a new window for the door.
12g, in the right hands, is an excellent defense gun.
HistoricalBluebird93@reddit
Why a hi power
Select-Efficiency935@reddit
9mm 556/223 12 22 those r everywhere, then into 762 x51 x39, 45 etc.... but 9mm 22 12 r rekkies for living in zombieville
etcthc@reddit
Nah thats lowk ideal
SloCalLocal@reddit
I will: ammo on a sling is objectively a bad idea. If it's loose it will swing around and interfere with your aim, but it's too wide to easily fit in one's support hand to hold it steady.
Otherwise, cool setup.
Select-Efficiency935@reddit
Ammo on a sling is also objectively cool / badass, so it's a tossup. Maybe wear it cross slung over shoulder as a belt. Then u get cool madmax / old west AND non intrusive firing lines or obstructed issues... 2x cool
SloCalLocal@reddit
Bandoliers are very cool. Cartridge belts as well.
RegardedCaveman@reddit (OP)
Ill keep that in mind good looking out
LilJonny2cookies@reddit
No I will not. You are NOT my father stop telling me what to do.

No notes. This is awesome.

Man top shelf. If I were the criminal I would definitely take a second to admire your loadout before firing
Proof_Bathroom_3902@reddit
OP had to tell Benny that despite him having all the horses, he's on the wrong side of the river.

Tally ho
NumerousFootball@reddit
The only issue I see, if you ever have to use it, most likely it’s gonna cause you & friends/family hearing damage. Thats my personal concern and I have no good solution.
CiD7707@reddit
You searching for the Ark or Grail?
TacosNGuns@reddit
My only criticism is the exposed hammers. Adds to more steps to the reload sequence.
RegardedCaveman@reddit (OP)
I like exposed hammers, simpler and no need to guess if cocked
Terminal_Lancelot@reddit
Can you run em? Are they reliable? Carry on.
McCrazyJ@reddit
I would prefer to be able to actually reload the shotgun quickly.
mzrdisi@reddit
Ramirez! Just switch to your side arm, it's faster than reloading.
RegardedCaveman@reddit (OP)
Ramirez really carried the whole team on his back
rocketstovewizzard@reddit
Looks fine to me! Mine's 20 ga.
Got_Sig@reddit
Nothing to roast. I’m not gonna stand in front of it.
MetapodCreates@reddit
That 'idiot' probably has a freaking baller mustache and leather shoulder holster and exudes pure sex appeal.
