10980xe worth it in 2026?

Looking for a PC capable of mixed use, some rendering task some server hosting with vms. I found a 10980xe with a mb and 32gb of ram for 550 USD. Is the 18 core and 48 lanes worth the slower cores for the price.

Iirc a 13700k will match the performance of an overclocked 10980xe for half the power.

and it would absolutely demolish it in singlecore, its a tired CPU sadly, ive upgraded from the 10940X despite same FPS as the 9950X3D but i fell from the chair because yeah to be honest the 9950X non 3d already pees on the 10980XE without a 125mhz BCLK, a Custom Windows that has a lot deactivated and a continues AVX 512 load, it then can sorta keep up with my 12700K but using a 10940X isnt nearly as good general usage alone then any new CPU and thats the problem ;) but if you have it good but dont stick something like a 4080 in it at all like i did with the 10940X you will be CPUZ bottleneked even at 4K and often hits a 100% usage in some like BO6 without even running anything in the backkground, wheres the 9950X is at 20 ish % usage (wowy) \^\^

10980xe, damn. Been a while since I heard about it.
It's an... Ok cpu, but this is a workstation class cpu. Still running on skylake 14nm. I would say that it's fine for a file server or homelab. Can do some gaming on it too.

My gaming PC is a 5700x3d and a 6900xt. This is strictly a server

Then go for it.

Better off doing the 9700x, 32GB DDDR5 and MB combo at microcenter for 549

The cost of a round trip plane ticket to my local microcenter will drastically offset the cost
