No but Uber could specifically offer a class of transport geared towards medical issues. I'm not saying like, gunshot trauma emergency that spills blood and requires transfusion in the vehicle, but like, blew my knee out playing basketball stuff.
I'm sure there's a way it could be capitalized upon that would make profit, and still save people $ vs an ambulance.
The fact this is getting upvotes is proof we're in dystopia. Emergency vehicles with trained medical personnell and sirens that can legally clear traffic for the rich, bleeding out in the back of some dude named Abdul's minivan for the poor.
Gun owners in the US seem to commonly fantasize about having the opportunity to kill someone with their guns. This goes along with that. If you hear anyone talking about "castle doctrine" or "duty to retreat state" there's a good chance that also falls into this category.
Also the sign reveals them to be one of those drooling at the thought.
Those who see them as tools that they will use but hope not to have to, they post no signs, they don't open carry, because it's not about ego, intimidation, or the thirst for violence. Besides, if it needs to be used as a tool, you ruin a lot of its effectiveness if the other person knows you have it ahead of time.
Tons of people apparently fantasize about getting shot. See everyone talking about how they’re worried they’ll get shot because they’re an uber eats driver or fedex driver.
This is a multi layered joke most people seem to miss.
The first layer is what others got, the threatening home defense sign. The reader first assumes, this is a threat for bulglars, telling them that they'll be shot. Which is an exaggerated showcase of an american stereotype.
However reading further it becomescleae that it is a universal rule. And they are not even calling an ambulance, because the generational debt it puts the family into is a greater loss than just killing whoever gets injured in the family. Which is an exaggeration of another american stereotype.
Generally something like "We don't call 911, We call the Coroner" with an image of a gun or a target or the like. Which since 911 is the general emergency number... would be unwise.
My parents have one that says “we only call 911 if grandpa is practicing autofellatio and hurts his back” so needless to say we don’t take the kids over to grandma and grandpa’s very often. Mostly because my dad can’t stop trying to suck his own dick.
They aren't gonna shoot you in broad daylight with your uniform on. I delivered for FedEx, and people with those signs are usually the nicest recipients. Those signs are for obviously shady people, so like don't show up in the middle of the night uninvited with a mask and hoodie on, lol.
Oh I thought this was a joke about how ambulance rides and hospital stays are too expensive or something. And putting that sign up as a reminder for everyone. But of course it's gun violence again.
Can't you just throw their parcel onto their property and leave without stepping onto it? There's clearly potential harm in stepping onto their property I would assume
Common trashy sign outside conservative gun owners’ houses in the US implying that burglars will be shot and killed instead of the police being called. However 911 is also how you call an ambulance so since he can’t get one OOP has to be put down like a horse when he gets injured
Anti-authoritarianism is a cross-party position. It just depends on who is in power at the time. There are also contradictory positions on both sides.
On one hand, some liberals will take on the "defund the police" and "ACAB" position, but others will also say that only police officers and the military should have firearms and ordinary citizens in practice don't have the right to defend themselves.
On the other hand, many conservatives will lean into respecting established authority structures and institutions. Police are respected because they maintain law and order. However, American conservatism also has a deep foundation of individual independence and pushing back against government overreach. It is better to rely on yourself first than wait for the police to come rescue you, especially if it might take 20 minutes for them to get there.
Although it's pure fantasy, every bootstrapping libertarian I've ever met has been living proof that social systems work. It's how they got to the level of success where they're worried about having to pay taxes on it, and they IMMEDIATELY pivot to "people need to help each other out" whenever faces with any actual adversity.
The "we dont call 911" sign : 8.99 at a county fair.
The look on the "we dont call 911" sign owners face in the body cam footage when they find out that their actions might not be considered justified: priceless
Billy_Madison69@reddit
Ok but that would be a pretty ridiculous reason to dial 911 anyways. Just help him into the car and go to the ER.
Panzerkatzen@reddit
We don’t dial 911, we open the Uber app and book a ride to the hospital because it’s significantly cheaper than the ambulance.
Reading_username@reddit
Jokes aside this is a brilliant angle that I'm surprised Uber hasn't leaned into.
Ok_Band7102@reddit
The only issue is I don’t think uber drivers want a bunch of blood in their car.

Bagelsaurus@reddit
Easy way to tell on yourself that you're not american.
911 is our equivalent of dialing 112/999 for emergency services. 911 is for the USA, Canada, Mexico, and most of the carribbean.

Mate, the only reason I'd be looking to "tell on myself" that I wasn't an american is if I was an american, that shit's shameful.
