I currently do not have a gaming laptop it has a 2gb graphics, 16 gb extended ram, 1tb ssd. its lags a lot obviously. but if i buy a gaming laptop with same 16gb ram but with 6gb graphics will it improve or its not a ram issue? help me understand

Numbers don't tell the whole story, it is much more dependent on the generation of the hardware and the tier of them within the generation. Even if it looks the same on paper, the difference can range from 'it is actually worse' to 'not on the same planet improvenents'.

This. Performance mostly depends on the actual CPU and GPU chips, not just RAM and VRAM capacity. Even then, there are different generations of memory, and even within the same generation speeds can vary wildly.

A bit confusing post, as you say you currently do not have a gaming laptop, but it has 2gb graphics. Unclear if you have a laptop at the moment or not.
I would try installing bazzite as the os. If you use it purely for gaming, it might help you out with performance a bit, by not having to run windows bloated processes.
Are you certain the ram is the same? 16gb doesn't equal 16gb. The one with 2gb graphics might have ddr3 or ddr4, and new model might have ddr5

i have asus vivobook s15 older one which has inbuilt 2gb ram of nvidia gforce. its not a faming laptop it was fist 8gb ram then i extended it to 16 gb
