[Handgun] Tisas US Government M1911A1 replica - $319.99
Posted by TigerIll6480@reddit | gundeals | View on Reddit | 58 comments
Apparently the reshuffling of the Tisas distribution is complete, and PSA has their US Army replica M1911A1 back in stock and at a great price today. This is the kit that comes with a hard case and the usual accessories, two .45ACP 7 round magazines, and both the walnut WW1 and plastic WW2 replica grips. Forged 70 series internals, everything is either Parkerized or a Cerakote finish that is a good color match for the old Parkerized metal.
I missed out on one of these at $380 at my LGS a month or so back, so I jumped on this deal when I saw the email today. Even after taxes, shipping, and the FFL fee, it will still be less than I was going to pay locally before tax.
DaddysBottomBoy69@reddit
I had one 10 years ago, and it ran any ammo I fed it. Pretty accurate too. I want another.
nocallerid@reddit
God I wish these would be ca legal.
GunsUp94@reddit
What's not legal about this in Cali ?
I thought California, knew how to party....
billytoad631@reddit
I need the tisas raider to go back on sale again I missed that one last time and am bummed about it
BaconAndCats@reddit
I love my Rader in 9mm. Probably the best trigger of any of my guns.
Error_506@reddit
Maybe it’s luck of the draw, but my buddy has one of these and the fit and finish of his was fantastic. I went through all the typical 1911/2011 fitment checks / component checks and they were punching well above the $320 price point.
Jason1435@reddit
Tisas is genuinely as good as Canik without the reputation for it. Tisas is top tier budget
MostlyOkPotato@reddit
Tisas has developed a reputation for good 1911s and solid pistols overall TBH.
BiggyIrons@reddit
Isnt it funny how turkey can make damn near perfect 1911's but their shotguns fall apart in 100 rounds
Begle1@reddit
There are $3000 Turkish shotguns out there with fans who say they're great deals. "AKUS" is the name I've heard.
They can do a good job, just comes down to money.
MostlyOkPotato@reddit
Different companies tbh. A lot of CZ shotguns are made in Turkey.
mmmhmmhim@reddit
ive seen the occasional turcatto suck ass, no idea about their single stacks. single stack in .45 easier to make good tho
MostlyOkPotato@reddit
It's probably only a matter of time until they're solid every time, if we're honest with ourselves. Some of these Turkish companies are pretty resourceful and care about making good products.
FoxPew@reddit
Can’t say the same for myself. I bought mine from PSA for $300 almost 2 years ago, and had nothing but issues. 2 RMA’s and 500 rds later, I sold it for $350. I think I just got unlucky, but I also kept my expectations rather low despite hearing good things about these. Wanted to give it another shot though, so I placed an order for a MAC MEUSOC from PSA a few days ago. Better luck this time hopefully lol
North-Woods69@reddit
Stock mags? What issue was the gun having?
Cheap 1911s very commonly need the smallest amount of tuning or fitting to run - it’s really not an issue for the overall quality of parts you are getting for the price
FoxPew@reddit
I tried various brands of ammo and mags and still experienced failure to feed and eject, 1-3 times per mag. When I sent it back for warranty, they replaced some parts, tuned the extractor, polished feed ramps, and general cleaning&lube. Still experienced the same issues so I gave up and sold it. From what I read, you nailed it, as far as cheap 1911’s needing a small amount of tuning and fitting to run great, but this was not my experience at all. Was wanting it be a fun beater 1911 for the range.
North-Woods69@reddit
Damn that sucks. I have 7 Tisas 1911s /MAC 1911s and two of them had issues out of the box. One needed legit 5 passes with a file on a burr left on the slide stop (rounds would hit it and lock slide open) and the other the extractor was too tight and causing issues. Every time I open one up I’m impressed because the machining is better than my CZs, S&Ws and sigs
MyDadBeatsUpYourCat@reddit
My FIL bought two for competition use. They look, feel, and shoot nice. I think he scooped them up for $275/ea
TigerIll6480@reddit (OP)
My LGS sold a lot of them previously, and I think they said they’ve only had one come back as a return. They love the various Tisas 1911s. Almost every review I’ve seen has said they’re great. The CMP sells them with a CMP stamp mark for $425 shipped, if that says anything.
SunlightStylus@reddit
Should be noted that the cmp one is also parkerized while this one is cerakoted
burritoresearch@reddit
This is correct. The only reason they're cheap and not $650 is that the Turkish Lira to US Dollar exchange rate has been in the shitter for a long time now. I would bet that their operating costs for the factory in Turkey and the wages they pay for CNC operators are not very high. Here's a Turkish Lira to USD exchange rate chart.

Tisas is a very solid company. They have come a long way and most definitely do not belong in the “turkshit” category.
Their PX series has a trigger many have said to be better than pistols 4 times the cost.
Robbbbbbbbb@reddit
I had a customer just get one recently and it was missing chunks of finish on the slide. Took him a few weeks to get a response from Tisas for a return label.
Basically, I'd recommend buying through PSA if you're getting one of these in case you do have issues it'll be an easier swap.
Dung_Beetle_2LT@reddit
I have a service special. Fit and finish are top notch. Paid $325. Could’ve easily been priced at almost double that for the quality. I wish I would’ve gotten the actual parkerized version but I don’t think they were out at the time. Solid cerakote job though. CMP contracts them now as well.
CharmingRemove725@reddit
Wow, what luck. I was checking out and wondered why the price was higher. They bumped it back up
TigerIll6480@reddit (OP)
The luck of daily deals.
DrNinjaPandaManEsq@reddit
Damn, I thought about it too long lol
SalviaDroid96@reddit
Annnnd it's sold out. Lol
TarantulaSalad@reddit
I can say in all honesty the Tisas single stack 1911s are GTG. My Tisas has better fit, better trigger, and better reliability than my Colts. They are comparative to Springfield 1911s but don't have the MIM parts. My Raider is nearly 1k rounds in with 2years of carry and thousands of dry reps going strong. A have a few friends with multiple models of Tisas that keep chugging along. I prefer to swap out the thumb safety plunger spring for a stiff one because Tisas tends to use soft springs for that. It's a personal preference. I also don't use the mags it comes with. Wilson, Colt, or McCormick mags. I'm not kidding when I say my Raider gets more holster time than my Springfield and Colts.
OhHolyCrapNo@reddit
I have one of these and it's a great gun, but the cerakote finish really takes away from the authenticity of the attempt at a believable replica.
OddtaskRandomjob@reddit
Nothing wrong with this gun, but just FYI if you want the more WWII accurate model, you're looking for this one, MPN 10100539
https://tisasarmsusa.com/category/pistols/1911-duty-series/1911-a1-u-s-army
The model being sold by PSA has a cerakote finish and a lowered ejection port, where the one I linked is parkerized and has the correct World War II style ejection port. Oddly it doesn't come with the correct World War II plastic grips though.
Telling them apart has always been difficult, and Tisas changed their website to remove both the right side view and the description of the gun's finish that would help you tell them apart.
clicktoseemyfetishes@reddit
Exactly what I was wondering here. The one you linked should be the same as the CMP Remington Rand clone afaik aside from the CMP markings?
OddtaskRandomjob@reddit
Correct. This article from before the renaming makes it clear that the CMP offering is the same pistol with their markings:
https://smallarmsreview.com/true-to-form-the-tisas-1911a1-asf/
clicktoseemyfetishes@reddit
As someone who likes 1911s (own 2 handguns and both are 1911s), I’m genuinely unsure if half the shit in that article is satirical or serious lol
TigerIll6480@reddit (OP)
On the Tisas website, the only listed difference between the “Government” and “Army” models are the grip material, but PSA says this one is the set with both pairs of grips. The image says Cerakote, the URL says Parkerized. We’ll see when it gets here. 🤷♂️
I intend to get an authentic 1911 through the CMP as soon as I get the paperwork sorted so I can get in line to order. I want one of these to use as a regular range gun and not shoot the relic as much.
steadyhandhide@reddit
Another material difference between the Remington Rand replica and this model is the ejection port. The replica pistols have the original, higher ejection port. This one is lowered.
The replicas also have the US Property marking, although the laser engraving does not mimic the originals well at all.
Small differences for sure, but worth pointing out if someone does want the replica model that Tisas makes.
OddtaskRandomjob@reddit
Unfortunately, Tisas "improved" their website and removed most of the relevant information. Here's an archive.org capture of the more correct MPN that I linked under its old name: https://web.archive.org/web/20240111215342/https://tisasusa.com/tisas-1911-a1-asf-u-s-army-45/
The MPN being sold by Palmetto State doesn't appear on the old site, but it's this model with the addition of the plastic grips. Previously you could buy it either with the wood or plastic grips, but not both in the same box: https://web.archive.org/web/20240122001429/https://tisasusa.com/tisas-1911-a1-us-army-45-wg/
The older site makes the differences clearer.
TigerIll6480@reddit (OP)
They were definitely available with both sets of grips in one box. Look at the review photos from the past few years. The CMP version comes with both sets. The one I was going to buy from my LGS before they sold their last three came with both sets. Most reviews of the Army replica model mention it coming with both sets. Obviously the old website info is faulty.
666VENGER666@reddit
Thank you for this. I have been in the market for a 1911 and if this is the truest current replica 1911 then I want it! I see hundreds of these on Gun Broker (MPN 10100539). I have only bought small parts on Gun Broker so im a little hesitant.
OddtaskRandomjob@reddit
This is the description of MPN 10100539 from the old website:
The 1911 A1 Armed Services Family is an exciting new addition to the already popular Issued Series of 1911 in current production by Tisas USA. This new edition creates a more accurate representation of the 1911 A1 Remington Rand that was manufactured during 1943-1945.
Type E Hammer None-beveled magazine well. Re-profiled Ejection Port Arched Mainspring Housing, Type 5 (8 Vertical Ribs) US Property Marked, right side of frame. Manganese Phosphate Finish.

666VENGER666@reddit
You sold me! *runsoftogunbroker*
HeughJanus@reddit
it looks like the posted one is the new version. all the "deals" for the model you linked are almost double in price which is indicative of low or no more stock
OddtaskRandomjob@reddit
The one palmetto State is selling appears to be a new MPN, which is the lowered ejection port/cerakote version with both the wood and plastic grips where previously it was only offered with one or the other.
They're clearly undergoing a rebranding as they've dropped the old "Armed Services Family" naming, but both versions were sold alongside each other for a number of years, with the parkerized version always selling for a bit more.
It would be a shame if they phased out the parkerized version, because it was specifically built to be an almost 1:1 replica of a 1943 Remington Rand. The version in the OP is a fine pistol, but is another "almost, but not quite" World War II replica alongside Rock Island, Inland/Auto Ordnance, etc. It is currently the most accurate World War II replica, and the only one that doesn't deviate seriously from the design with a modified ejection port or series 80 internals.

Love mine, looks great, runs great. No problems
FlyingYankee118@reddit
They upped it to $349

Love mine in 9mm

I need the 9mm version to be on sale

This or the MAC MEUSOC from a couple days ago?
Begle1@reddit
Get into Wild Bunch shooting today!
Just need a $600 rifle, a $600 shotgun, and a couple hundred dollars worth of leather to fill out your starter kit.
Harrythehobbit@reddit
I am definitely going to try Wild Bunch if I can ever figure out how to hit the broad side of a barn with my 1911.
I can shoot a J frame or a Glock just fine, but for some reason I just can't get accurate hits with my 1911.
usa2a@reddit
There is mechanical accuracy and there is shootability.
Broadly speaking I would say most people find 1911s to be extremely shootable compared to Glocks and J frames. If you find the opposite you might be special. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Mechanical accuracy, my opinion having built many 1911s is they don't want to be accurate the way some modern guns do. They can be made extremely accurate but they don't always fail gracefully when they are loose. A typical Glock is loose as a goose but the recoil spring forces the rear of the barrel up and the front of the barrel down into the bottom of the opening in the slide so they tend to return to the same position in lockup despite all that looseness. When a 1911 is loose there is not so much forcing it to return to the same spot and they will shoot a bit more shotgun-shaped. I have a Detonics where you can freely rattle the barrel around in the slide while it's in battery.
The diagnosis depends on your definition of "get accurate hits". If you are expecting 3" at 25y and getting 8" you might have a mechanical accuracy problem and need a new bushing. If you are expecting 3" at 10y and getting 8" you are dealing with a shootability issue.
Begle1@reddit
Odd, in my experience most people shoot 1911's pretty well naturally due to the good trigger and heavy weight.
TigerIll6480@reddit (OP)
My editing got mangled. That was supposed to say “forged slide and frame, 70 series internals…”
Puzzleheaded_Toe_595@reddit
Nice post Op good looking out, In for one $366.64 shipped
SpaceCampDropOut@reddit
I’d love to see a real pic of this pistol because PSA’s pic just seems off.
msherm79@reddit
I bought one last year, great fit and finish. My friends are shocked that it got it for $299. It definitely only came with the plastic grips, easily replaced with ebay wooden ones for $25. Case, cleaning kit, two mags etc ALL worth the price, it will certainly never be worth less than what they are selling for.
