This was the album that got me into rap. I had just moved from a small town to Atlanta, and since our high school was maybe 10 miles from the actual Dungeon it was huuuuuge.
I love OutKast but they're the last hip hop I was really into. I didn't care for the sound that came after these guys. I checked out during the mid 2000s
Love this one! Reminds me of my college years and my first job. Driving at midnight coming home from my girlfriend's (now wife) house, drinking a mountain dew then having to wake up early next day for work.
I remember jamming to this in my buddies car on the way to high school. There were 4 of us, singing along. Within the next 4-5 years everyone of us had served in Iraq, I particularly serving as a Machine Gunner in Baghdad.
Most of us were probably headed to the military anyway, it was the only way out of our working class neighborhood but 9/11 my senior year cemented the decision for us.
Sometimes I can’t listen to this song bc I don’t have the energy. The dancing is involuntary anytime this song is on so if I’m too tired I can’t even listen. 🤣🤣
I planned to go to bed early tonight. I was just about drifting off to sleep, but compulsively clicked on this. Now I have to restart my wind-down bedtime routine. Dammit. Could not resist. Love this song so much.
My most enduring memory of this song is being at a house party in college ca. 2002 and some jacked, but balding and shirtless white dude just going all-out dancing to it, vaguely in the style of the music video.
He was definitely someone I knew by name, but 24 years later that’s gone. All that’s left is the image of him dancing seared into my brain!
I listened to atliens the other day after not hearing it for years and it was really nice to hear some as simple as east point some some dank and the beat kick in.
I didn't know they reissued it. Stankonia has some of my favorites of theirs. Which is saying a lit because they've managed to have across the board amazing albums
Worked at the LSU radio station in the late 90s-early 00s, one night I was at the station waiting for a buddy to wind up his show so we could bop across the river to hit a strip club. His last track was B.O.B., which he intro’ed with “been waiting all week to play this one!”
On the drive out he did a little reflecting and was suddenly mortified, because George W. had kicked off his sequel to daddy’s war that week and buddy realized he probably sounded like a bloodthirsty asshole.
I was playing Chocolate by Big Boi during a lunch break and my boss really liked it. I told her the name and title and instantly heard a yelp from her direction. "B-O-I!! Not B-O-Y!" I bet HR flagged her work phone for that one.
Okay, I know this betrays a fundamental lack of knowledge of how things work and is going to sound like a Jessica Simpson "Chicken of the Sea" moment but how is this coded to switch ears/sides on YouTube? It somehow made more sense playing my CD through the tape deck converter in my car.
I was 17 when Stankonia came out and saw the video for B.O.B. late one night on mtv. Not even kidding this song and video affected the trajectory of everything I still love about music and art and media.
God my husband is so obnoxious when this song comes on. He knows every word (the man has a tough time with song lyrics) and it’s adorable how proud he is of himself. 💕
I listened to this song on loop the night they televised the bombing of Baghdad. That was one of two nights in college we left our TV on all night intentionally.

Man, I was living in east point in Atlanta, and it was HUGE when they hit. Everybody coming into the dwarf house blasting in the lot…

One of greatest moments in music history!
KeySatisfaction197@reddit
Fucking hell this album was wall-to-wall hits. Including the skits between songs.
"I got one question. Will you marry me?"
"Yes!"
"Great. Got another question. You mind signing this pre-nuptial agreement?"
"What?"
"... ... ... BREAK!"

I distinctly remember hearing this song for the first time. It came on the radio while I was driving. It was insane, totally floored.
plasticfangs@reddit
When I am driving, and BOB comes on, my partner always cautions me to slow down because she knows I'll be pedal to the metal!

Listening to this song while driving is DANGEROUS. You’re just begging to get a speeding ticket.
