I am a 59M... was diagnosed with cancer in my late 40's... the first time... Colon-rectal... then lung cancer then aggressive squamous cell skin cancer... had gall bladder removed and pancretitus... oh, and died from a reaction to blood thinners after the blood clot about half way thru the rectal cancer fun... had 1 round of radiation, one round of chemo, surgical removal, and had the blood clot 1 week after getting chemo port put in... I died about a week after that... blood thinners and over exertion not a goo combination until your body acclimates ti the meds... and also on HRT caused by damage from pelvic surgery.. I am a ball of fun now... travel with a diaper bag...

And still here to see the sun rise! Good on you❤️
Robviously-duh@reddit

I ended up with Polymyalgia Rheumatica and I didn't even know I'd even sign up for it but what makes it worse is that it will take about 2 years to find out either I have fully blown rheumatoid arthritis or my existing symptoms will just subside. These are the type of things that you don't see in advertising brochures about getting older because I wouldn't have picked this one personally.

I hear you. These shells we inhabit sure get interesting the longer they last

I liken it to being a car, I started out as Mini and went to a Ferrari and now I'm a beat up o'l Jalopy

Symptoms of this . Also symptoms of RA. 59 and I know my grandma has osteo. I do eat a lot of cheese , yogurt .

Same, thanks to thyroid meds and breast cancer history ruling out HRT. My baseline DEXA scan was iffy but I had a FOOSH and rechecked and yup there I was. Been doing Prolia every 6 months and will probably do another scan soon to see how it's working.
Prolia costs a fortune but my doc's billing dept signed me up for copay assistance so it's very manageable.
h3rs3lf_atl@reddit
Same. I did 1 full year on Evenity, now Prolia every 6 months.
flea_23@reddit (OP)
They mentioned Prolia. I’m going to an endocrinologist before I start anything

Mine is paired with RA and psoriatic arthritis... getting old sucks
flea_23@reddit (OP)
That’s a stinking hand to be dealt
Natural_King2704@reddit
I'm mad that you're not mad
flea_23@reddit (OP)
I’ll probably get mad in a bit
Natural_King2704@reddit
That disappoints me
flea_23@reddit (OP)
I’m disappointed you’re not mad
Hepkat98@reddit
That's the same way my parents disciplined me sometimes... I'm not mad, just disappointed. Usually that worked better than a spanking.
flea_23@reddit (OP)
I wish my mom had said that. I got the belt
Flat_Demand_8341@reddit
PTH ok?
flea_23@reddit (OP)
Not sure. I have a referral to an endocrinologist

Can you lift weights? Find a trainer who can work with you to help build back some bone?
flea_23@reddit (OP)
I started that a few months ago!
TOW2Bguy@reddit
Ya... I fully understand. My years under a rucksack and jumpin from perfectly fine aircraft didn't do my knees and back any good. Doc referred to my remaining cartilage as "slurry". On the Kellgren-Lawrence scale he says I'm roughly at a grade 3.5.
flea_23@reddit (OP)
Slurry is very descriptive

Estrogen. Talk to your Dr about hormone replacement therapy. (Assuming you're female since that is who overwhelmingly gets osteoporosis; apologies if I got that wrong )

Fix it with this (assuming you are otherwise healthy):

That really does suck. Bone pain is the worst pain you can experience.

I was informed by the gaming industry stim/med packs and magic healing potions would be readily available and periodically respawn to return me to full health.
Weary_Language_2825@reddit
Awe come on… just be mad this time… damn
slade797@reddit
Well shit.
