He was a controversial person at best, regarding his personal life. I mean he did stop performing live because of an incident with some mafia people in his prime, and went on to live by the beach with his wife to focus on fishing. He made lots of money from singing but decided to live a poor man's life, because that was what expressed him, considering he was a refugee and came from absolutely nothing.

That doesn't mean he isn't the greatest Greek singer to exist. We're not judging his personality, we're judging his voice.
