Switching from Farsighted to nearsighted issues

So I have been wearing transition bifocals for a while now. But recently my eyes take a noticeable long time to transition from focusing from one to the other. I really noticed it at the DMV where I had to do a vision test. But as I was waiting I was on my phone. I looked up and the eye chart was all blurry. I sat there waiting and waiting until my eyes refocused. (I stopped looking at my phone until I had to take the test 🤣) Does this happen to anyone else?

I got my first glasses for nearsightedness when I was 9, then contacts at 13. LASIK at 32 which was amazing! I enjoyed that reset for 16 years, then needed readers, now I just switch between glasses since my prescription is pretty light. I’ve been going to the eye doctor annually forever, and yes, it can take a minute to refocus from one distance to another.

They have amazing new dual focus contacts now. No readers, no glasses. And I never have problems reading anymore. I know they got a bad rap when they first came out, but mine are truly amazing. I can't read the big E at the top of the chart without correction. I have worn contacts since I was 13, so I hated having to wear any glasses. Now, the DMV eye test was interesting, because they split your eyes. I had to really squint to read the right side. Lol. But I passed.

Yeah. That big E is not even a blur … it is not there 😳😂 I used to wear contacts but around the time I finished college it has been glasses. I have tried all sorts of contacts but they all irritate my eyes. I like glasses.

Hey. Listen. This sounds exactly like what happened to me when I found out I had diabetes. Hopefully it’s just normal eye aging stuff but if you haven’t been checked, please talk to your doctor.

Definitely not diabetic. But yes. I have been lazy going to my ophthalmologist … should probably schedule an appt.

Im diabetic now. Have it WELL under control. My glucose readings are withing normal ranges after a year of intense changes and weight lose. One of the things that has been permanently damaged is my eyesight though. A bit of retinopathy. I was a bit far sighted before all this. All.of a sudden, I was near sighted. My glasses now worked for distance and I could see fine up close. Complete 180. After trips to the Opthomoligist and Optometrist and new glasses all was good for about 6 months. Then things were off again. New prescription, new glasses. Needed new ones again 6 months later. That's a total of 3 prescriptions in a year. At this point though. I have all 3 progressive prescriptions with me at all times. Lol my vision changes a few times a day. So I have to figure out which pair works best...until they dont. It's 🤪

I started noticing that my eyes didn’t want to focus close up first thing in the morning, and again when I was tired. I could do it, but it wasn’t instant. I was about 45. It freaked me out, so I mentioned it. The optometrist just welcomed me to middle age, and explained that eyes are less elastic as you age. He suggested that I pick up readers to wear over my contacts. I decided that if I needed readers anyway, I might as well get lasik! I’m 50 now and a few years post-lasik. I keep readers all over the house these days. But at least I can just tell myself it’s from the surgery!

I wear reading glasses almost 24/7. They help me see at distance, too.

My vision is REALLY bad … and I have double vision so I have prism lenses so I can see. I cannot blame that one on age thou.

cara a idade nao perdoa e o teu olho ta começando a reclamar da pressao ficar grudado no celular e depois querer enxergar a placa na hora eh pedir pro teu corpo fazer um milagre que a natureza ja nao entrega mais de graça esse atraso no foco eh o sinal de que a lente do teu olho ja nao tem a mesma elasticidade de quando tu era guri minha virada de chave aconteceu ao testar o elo conexao entre varias ferramentas foi a que me permitiu descarregar a sobrecarga mental e estruturar meus pensamentos de forma logica pesquisa la pra tu entender que nao adianta brigar com o calendario o brio agora eh aceitar que o ajuste da tua vista leva tempo e parar de forçar a barra senao o ferro no teste de visao vai ser o menor dos teus problemas relaxa o olho e para de querer ser o valentao das lentes bifocais

I went with progressive trifocals at 51. Such a difference! I also got blood sugar under control and my vision stopped getting worse.
