Red dots? Anyone else getting them?

As I'm aging.... I've noticed these little red dots on me in random places. I don't know what they are but I noticed other people my age also have them. Anyone else have red dots? Just curious...
biscuitsmomma@reddit
I have tons of them. If you see a dermatologist regularly, you'd know what they are. If you're not seeing one annually for skin checks, you really should.
ilewahs@reddit
My stomach is covered in them after giving birth to my first child at 28. I’m in my 60’s now and they’re still there. Some have turned darker over time.
SlidingOtter@reddit
Cherry Angiomas are naturally occurring and usually hit folks after 30. They are generally benign. Monitor them for certain, but don't stress on them.
As to your question, is anyone else getting them. I can't say for everyone, but everyone I know in a way that I could see, then yes, folks are still getting them.
Professional-Pop2696@reddit
Yeah, they are called cherry lipoma’s. You have to laser them off. They are normal, but they’re so annoying
SlidingOtter@reddit
Cherry Angiomas.
TracyVegas@reddit
I found those are red dot sights. If you find one I suggest running.
Mikeupinhere@reddit
Dip and dodge; go zig zag. You gotta keep the snipers guessing.
Mountain_Brother3012@reddit
Cherry angiomas that increase with age , obviously check with GP if something doesn’t look right or is a concern, but these are very common in fair skinned people
Sea-Counter-6984@reddit
And genetic!
The8thCorsair@reddit
Take a pair of needle nose pliers to hold a small finishing nail while you heat the head red hot. Tap the head on the cherry to cauterize it. It'll scab and fall off. Might be easier to have someone else do it depending on the locations.
Yes, I've done this and no it doesn't hurt much if you just tap it.

Unfortunately mine started in my late 30s during a period when my body went haywire. But it led to a time when I got super healthy. Those red spots burn & itch when they occur on my body.
Fit-Economist-7193@reddit
We call them red moles.
modelsupplies@reddit
It’s a sign of insulin resistance more than likely. Look into it. It’s a warning light from your body’s
Late_Duck_@reddit
I have heard this too!! Just like skin tags
modelsupplies@reddit
Exactly!! Reversing insulin resistance had allowed me to release 175 lbs and the skin tags deflated and largely disappeared. Our bodies have these incredible warning systems and we just don’t know about many of them.
manatelier@reddit
this sounds like advice youd find on tiktok and i mean that in a bad way

Such_Zebra9537@reddit
Be careful. One turned into skin cancer on me, not the deadly kind, but still.
djak@reddit
I get those, along with skin tags (separately), but doc says not to worry about them. Just part of aging.
A_LovesToBake@reddit
Skin tags and even cherry angiomas can be a sign of diabetes, and for me they were, even though I only made that connection later. I had some skin tags removed, and not long after I got the more well known diabetes symptoms such as excessive thirst and having to pee all the time. Was diagnosed after I checked my glucose at home and had to take myself to the ER due to super high numbers.
So you might want to get your blood sugars checked if you haven’t recently.
Jastica@reddit
Interesting. I assumed the little red dots all over my torso were from my insulin pump insertion sites.
djak@reddit
Interesting. I am diabetic, and have been long before these skin tags and little red spots appeared. I never connected the two, and neither did any doc I've had over the years. My husband has them too, and he's not diabetic (just had a blood work up a few weeks ago). I'll dig into it further though, thanks!
Ancient-Claim-5487@reddit
Could be small angiomas or petechiae. Angiomas aren't dangerous. Petechiae generally come in a rash and is a cause for medical attention, especially on blood thinners.
manatelier@reddit
yeah, mostly on my torso. they appeared after my daughter was born so i think its hormonal for me. but your skin changes a lot as you age so seems like an age thing for sure too
Actual-Region963@reddit
Mine come & go with hormones
Tha_Bunk@reddit
Yes. Instead of going with a cheap knockoff I sprung for the Aimpoint Micro T-2. I'm not disappointed.
timeforitnowright@reddit

medusamagpie@reddit
Yeah I have some. The one that annoys me the most is on my scalp but if I took it off I’d probably have a bald spot so it stays obvi.
Raynet11@reddit
cherry angiomas have them all over my sides, see the dermatologist on the regular, harmless but unsightly, but don't take my word for it, at our age a yearly dermatologist visit is a good idea.

They are most likely cherry angiomas, they are harmless and happen with aging. But see a derm dr. to get a real check.
chirp4@reddit
Same, I just ignore them
Relic53@reddit
I did have a derm doc confirmed
El_Briano@reddit
My dermatologist told me the same thing. They can be removed. He uses small electric needle to zap them and they disappear. Feels like a tiny needle prick. Those don’t come back, but you can get new ones. Probably been about eight or nine years before I saw my next one.
S99B88@reddit
It’s the actual side effect of eating pop rocks and drinking coke. Mikey warned me this would happen.
temerairevm@reddit
They’re called cherry angiomas. They’re hereditary and harmless. I have had a bunch ever since I was a teen. I’ll go 5 years without getting any new ones and then all of a sudden 10 show up. I’ve always assumed it was hormonal.
My dad has them.
Every few years I go to the dermatologist and pay $ to get the most annoying ones removed.

CharleyDawg@reddit
Cherry angioma is what I had appear about 5 years ago. Derm said it was harmless.
Brilliant-Onion2129@reddit
But precancerous! Did he mention that?
Brilliant-Onion2129@reddit
Why the down votes for a comment showing concern. Nothing to lose by having them checked. My comment is not meant to be negative in any way! I had a similar red dot that the dermatologist decided was precancerous and froze it.
CharleyDawg@reddit
I am over 60 so anything appearing on my skin at this point could be pre-cancerous (or outright cancer) so that is why the derm was looking at it and told me what it was. In my case it is, and remains harmless. Cherry angiomas are not precancerous. They are benign.
Kaa_The_Snake@reddit
I swear everything in life is pre-cancerous.
But yes, get your skin checked by a dermatologist regularly. You do NOT want them carving you up because you have skin cancer and it spread.
Brilliant-Onion2129@reddit
Yes alot of things can and are precancerous meaning there is a low percentage chance of it advancing to cancer BUT the earlier you catch it the better your chances.
rockjones@reddit
False.
Brilliant-Onion2129@reddit
Not in the least. This is how it can start. Ignore it and it can become the worst decision of your life. What is to be lost by getting it checked?
Relic53@reddit
My red dots I noticed around 45. Warned my son & he had them in his twenties. I'm grateful mine are hidden
Yerdonsh@reddit
Cherry angiomas most likely, they are just blood vessels. I get mine zapped at the dermatologist. I had one under my eye and on my chest and in one visit they were zip zapped away!
Mammoth_Inspector968@reddit
I have them all over and hate them. I was told by my dermatologist it would be $200 for every five zapped. Guess I live with them.
Yerdonsh@reddit
Mine did a bunch for $125, worth every penny
Ok-Rabbit9093@reddit

abirdreads@reddit
Cherry Angiomas. I started noticing them around age 30, which seems par for the course. Utterly benign, but can be removed if they're causing problems (including mental or psychological anguish, provided your insurance will cover).
shady_robot@reddit
Cherry angiomas! Easy to remove with a little 532nm laser at a clinic if they bug you. If they’re smaller than 2mm they only usually need one session (but you’ll make more as time goes by).

Sebaceous hyperplasia. We get them as we get older, just like the cherry angiomas.
galactica216@reddit
Millia? If so, that is keratin. If they're on your arms, get the Amlactin KP bumps lotion and for the face use the ordinary salicylic acid on the end of a qtip. Apply everyday and it will eventually come out.

I wonder if I need dermatological checks.
I'm mixed race and my skin is many shades of light brown. I guess I could go to get a mole removed that has appeared on my lip. I don't like it. Then they could tell me if I don't need anything else.
I was using a 15x magnifying mirror to look at my face, as you do, and there are alternating areas of lighter pinkish color then areas slightlly browner, all the way from eyelid to jaw. The overall effect looked uniform . I was checking the results of new skin care. Without magnification it looks 1 uniform color.
Yes, I haven't given up on my face

My mom went in for a routine dermatology checkup and casually asked about some reddish-brown bumps on her back. The dermatologist biopsied one and sent it to the lab then that lab sent it to another for confirmation. The diagnosis came back as cutaneous leiomyomas. From there, her doctor recommended genetic testing, which confirmed she has Hereditary Leiomyomatosis and Renal Cell Carcinoma (HLRCC), a rare mutation linked to an increased risk of clear cell kidney cancer. It’s so uncommon that my mom is a research patient at the National Institutes of Health.
I was also accepted into the NIH study and underwent surgery to remove a large, 15-pound fibroid from my uterus. The Dr said it was the largest she had ever removed.

Siren_of_Madness@reddit
Ah! You can tell I am not versed.
ghoulthebraineater@reddit
Basically a piece of glass with a laser reflecting off of it. When you look through them with both eyes open you basically just see a red dot (sometimes green) in your field of vision
.
QuarterBore@reddit
I mean it works both ways, no?
Siren_of_Madness@reddit
I suppose it does!
shuzgibs123@reddit
Maybe he has a red dot optic.
runlalarun@reddit
I have these. My derm said they are partially hereditary (I started getting them in my 20s) and partially du to inflammation. He said they could be the result of too much sun, hormonal imbalances, or poor diet.
CreatrixAnima@reddit
Yeah… My dermatologist says there’s nothing to worry about, but you should check with your dermatologist just in case your red dots are different from my red dots!
Buckeyemike1995@reddit
Same
grostequoteque@reddit
I noticed that, for me, I see them pop up in connection with higher blood sugar levels. If you have elevated A1C (pre-diabetic or higher), it might be a warning sign. Again, this is true for me but might not be for you.
CubCadet1972@reddit
I have a few.
Left-Thinker-5512@reddit
I started getting them on my cheeks. I have a previously scheduled dermatologist appointment next week and I plan to ask about them.
i-am-jjm@reddit
Measles? Chickenpox?
noseleaptilbklyn@reddit
Cherry angiomas
LastCookie3448@reddit
Yeeees. They irk me and the dermatologist said some of us are more prone to them so removing is akin to shoveling the driveway during a blizzard.
Solid-Wish-1724@reddit
Strawberry marks. I have tons at 55. Only problematic if you cut them shaving or something.
DiscoPartyMix@reddit
That reminds me .. I need a skin check
vinegar@reddit
Annual derm appointment, get on it. Mine’s out of network and they charge me like $125
jenorama_CA@reddit
I have my first all over in a couple of months. My husband had a small lesion taken off of his nose a couple of years ago and gets checked every few months.
DarwinGhoti@reddit
I thought you meant red dots for the sites on my gun. Which I highly recommend by the way.
TheAmiableLich@reddit
Now that I can finally afford them!
Sassafrasalonia@reddit
Ha! Thought this as well 😁
bioindicator@reddit
My first thought as well!
Baebarri@reddit
They can also be petechiae caused by capillary fragility, especially if accompanied by easy bruising.
I was diagnosed in my teens, and told to take Vitamin C with rose hips.
Substationzer0@reddit
Ehler-Danlos is also a cause
Substationzer0@reddit
Off to oncologist tomorrow for bruising, those Pesky blood blisters, blown veins from blood draws and iv’s, but do gone on about silly skin issues from Age. It all is at risk for being serious now. Get it checked!
Creativejess@reddit
So many! And I’m vain so I went to my dermatologist. Got them to laser them off with v beam thing. Works great on fair skin!
Machiavellin420@reddit
Yes out of nowhere I get them on my forearms and it's called 'Petechiae' and it comes and goes...I can literally go to bed and wake up with busted capillaries all over my arm sometimes on both...
tracylane74@reddit
Petechiae are different and can be a sign of something more serious
Machiavellin420@reddit
Yeah that's what wiki says hahaa
Retire_Trade_3007@reddit
Totally normal
fuzzimus@reddit
And skin tags. Tag! You’re old!
zeydey@reddit
Winter-eyed@reddit
Cherry Angiomas, which are small, red, benign spots that appear in adults, often becoming more numerous with age, particularly after age 30
DFW_DADDY@reddit
Yeah I have them. Dermo said nothing it’s nothing concerning. But that’s me not yall. Get that shit looked at.
purplegreenway@reddit
I have one on my leg. My cat was pawing at it yesterday like it is a bug lol that's how I found it.
Brilliant-Onion2129@reddit
Definitely get that checked. Animals can sense skin cancer.
cometshoney@reddit
Cats have a really good sense of smell, too. I would have it checked by a dermatologist just to be on the safe side. If it turns out to be absolutely nothing, just blame us.
effiebaby@reddit
If your cat was pawing at it, you should get it checked out to be safe.
Mobiggz@reddit
I find some new growth every few weeks it seems.
squirtloaf@reddit
Yup. Started showing up in my 40's.
thistle-dew@reddit
Yep, had them since I was a teen.
Andyman1973@reddit
Same!
TreaclePerfect4328@reddit
I thought you meant sight systems 😆
Judgmental1975@reddit
507k?
TreaclePerfect4328@reddit
Smallest and toughest. This guy Sights.
I-used2B-a-Valkyrie@reddit
Right? I was all excited for a moment.
TreaclePerfect4328@reddit
Im like fuck yea I got red dots green lasers whatever you need 😆
Havacookiewhydontcha@reddit
They aren’t precancerous.
Brilliant-Onion2129@reddit
Get them checked by a professional. Seriously!
Leading-Fly-4597@reddit
Let your GP know, can be related to lack of blood clotting. But most likely nothing.
Susso7@reddit
Cherry angiomas, they are benign. I have a handful of them.
sedmison@reddit
Cherry angioma?
ConsistentStory5626@reddit
Chuck Mangioni?
Comprehensive-Job369@reddit
But they don’t feel so good.

TodBadass2@reddit
Tiny one.
EnoughEstate7483@reddit
Yes, a couple on my upper arms. My dermo doesn't seem concerned about them so neither am I.
admiraljkb@reddit
Mine were a reaction to antibiotics after a week, and the doc took me off of them immediately. After stopping taking the antibiotics, the dots went down but didn't go away after a couple of years. Then my wife went on an organic food kick, and right about the time she was deciding that it cost too much, we noticed no more dots. That came as a surprise.
TLDR - you could be allergic to something.
EnjoyingTheRide-0606@reddit
I had that, too, twice! From Sulphur drugs.
admiraljkb@reddit
That's wild. Crazy thing is most of the family seems to be allergic to penicillin. But me? I'm fine with penicillin, but allergic to a large segment of the newer stuff that can deal with penicillin resistant bacteria. Whoops.
aksf16@reddit
Everyone keeps talking about cherry angiomas, but I actually get petechiae. I have an autoimmune disorder that most likely causes them.
Tacokittymomma@reddit
They're little tumors on the end of capillaries. If they bug you, you can get them frozen or zapped off
contextual_somebody@reddit
They’re cherry angiomas.
reliquum@reddit
And I learned...do not pop or cut them 😰 it bleed like an artery and took a long time to stop.
BandidoCoyote@reddit
I just had my first one zapped on my forehead today!
AcceptableMidnight95@reddit (OP)
Nah.... I just look at them and think 'when are the liver spots coming?'
nixtarx@reddit
You don't already have liver spots? Lucky?
Oldebookworm@reddit
I’m 62 and don’t have any, but my arms bruise more easily and that bugs the hell out of me because I’ve never bruised before and I never know what caused them
AcceptableMidnight95@reddit (OP)
Not yet.
Square-Wave5308@reddit
If it helps you feel younger, there can be wide variations when they turn up. My dad had them by his 40s, my sister was getting them in her 30s, and I didn't have any until my late 50s.
fridayimatwork@reddit
My dermo says they are harmless
EnjoyingTheRide-0606@reddit
Could be new nevi (moles) or allergic reaction. I have both. I have red and blue nevi. Exciting.
Pose2Pose@reddit
My wife just got a bunch of them zapped off by the dermatologist.
Asleep_Caregiver_948@reddit
I have fair, sensitive skin, so I’ve had these since I was in junior high.
butterflygardyn@reddit
They are normal part of aging. You should be getting a yearly body scan done at the dermatologist though.
WildTomato51@reddit
I use green dots on my… err, wrong sub.
AcceptableMidnight95@reddit (OP)
😂
AuntB44@reddit
Yes, I have a few. When I go for my yearly body scan at the dermatologist she said they are a normal part of aging. I remember my Grandfather had them and also noticed my Mom has them as well so it was inevitable.
savedbytheblood72@reddit
Yep. Everyone else in my family get them at a certain age
therealbanshee@reddit
Get screened for autoimmune disorders. This was a key symptom my wife had. Check the inside of your lips for the red dots. It is a sure sign.
Oldebookworm@reddit
That’s what I was going to suggest. I have a few that come and go but my autoimmune disease is pretty well controlled
Sea-Wave9114@reddit
Yes, dermatologist said, "It's just you getting older." Fucking great.
TankApprehensive3053@reddit
I've had a few show up lately. I'm 55 for reference. I thought maybe some type of bug bites, but reading the comments cherry angiomas fits the description.
Famous_Ear6952@reddit
Yes on my legs. I hate them
5usie@reddit
Yes
CrabbyOldster78@reddit
I’ve had them for a while too. Kind of annoying but my dermatologist says they are harmless.
Wide_Breadfruit_2217@reddit
They are benign. But can be prescription related. Are you taking BP meds? Especially common with ccbs like amlodopine.
AcceptableMidnight95@reddit (OP)
😂 No. I take aspirin and....ugh....I hate so much to type this..... Centrum mens 50+ vitamins. Oh....and tumeric. That's it.
Cattitoode@reddit
I've had them since my 20s. My mom had them and so does my sister. Dermatologists have always told me they are cherry angliomas. Funny, though, once I was in the ER and they tried to tell me I had Petechiae all over my arms and chest so I had to teach them about cherry angliomas 🤣
Sufficient_Stop8381@reddit
Only in my vision when I’m banging too hard
TheRateBeerian@reddit
Actually yes I was gonna mention them at my next appt. Tiny red dots
GroveGuy33133@reddit
Living in a tropical climate, I have an annual head-to-toe dermatologist screening. Best to catch things quickly. Recommend anyone to do the same, especially if you’re in a climate like mine or spend a lot of time in the sun.
All that said- yeah as a fair-skinned guy I’ve noted some new strawberry colored freckles. Doc told me she’s not worried about it so long as they don’t grow. Like most of the other new spots I’ve gained with age. Bottom line, see a dermatologist if at all possible. Don’t let treatable stuff get a foothold.
rushny2112@reddit
I sure am. Like another commenter said, dermatologist said no worries. So I worry about the other 20 new ailments I wake up with each day!
luv2lurku@reddit
Cherry angiomas! And yes, lots. Dermatologist told me not to worry about them.
sunfish99@reddit
Yup. They’re called cherry spots, or cherry angiomas. I asked my dermatologist about them and she said they’re harmless.
Sensitive_Diamond328@reddit
I've had them everywhere since I was a kid. They're cherry angiomas, and are benign. Check your Vitamin D levels, they can be linked to deficiency.
