Equinox engine blow, who wants it?

Equinox at dealership - turns out engine is blown. Dealership has nothing I want to buy. How do I buy somewhere else if it's not driveable?
NoodlesRomanoff@reddit
Donate it to charity.

Get it fixed! It will be a lot less than buying a new car. Do the math and do maintenance in the future.

It has 200,000 miles on it. 2018 was a bad year for that engine I guess
EuroCanadian2@reddit
200k miles is not bad at all for an Equinox engine, a lot of them don't last that long.

So… get a new engine!
DogblackMichigan@reddit
Put it on fb marketplace.
Curiousand40@reddit
Put it on FB with “daily driver. Won’t start. Might need a battery. $2500. I know what I’ve got.”

Great ideas! I hate car shopping. Borrowing a car for a few days. Just could not get my head around trading it in somewhere else. The dealership it is at is not being helpful.
navlgazer9@reddit
How much do you still own on it ?
gopackgo1955@reddit (OP)
2,000
navlgazer9@reddit
That’s what’s making the trade complicated
But car dealers take trades that the owner is upside down on all the time , they just roll that negative equity into the loan on the new car .
Which makes it even harder to pay off the new car .

Unexpected too! Not happy with my choices 😞
navlgazer9@reddit
Well not being happy with it is the first step to not doing it again .
Get a Honda or Toyota

That would be great. Wanted that last time. I'm 70 years old. Thought the equinox would be my last car. Maybe some car salesman will have pity on me. Not counting on it. 😏

I'll give you $100 for it
Jacklunk@reddit
I’ll raise you 110

What city are you in? Many junk yards have them ready for pick up. They may also have mechanics to do the labor.
doobersthetitan@reddit
You can either tow it? Which will put you out a tow bill.
Or call a person that buys junk cars, they'll tow it...give you some money....you then Uber ir rent a car and use said car to go buy another car?
Evening-Tomatillo-47@reddit
Bus, taxi, get a lift, walk...
Fiss@reddit
I would throw a used engine installed by some normal joe schmoe mechanic and either keep it or sell it. You wont enter even a decent offer with the motor blown
Hersbird@reddit
A dealer is not really giving you anything for something like that. They may put even a ridiculous $4000 trade in value on it, but that just means they would have dropped the price on whatever you are buying $4000 if you would have asked. You need to sell the car privately for whatever you can get, and go car shopping completely separate of anything to do with that Chevy.
jrileyy229@reddit
If you don't want anything for it, just hand them the title. They'll gladly take it, put in a motor, and sell it
BassesNBikes@reddit
I traded in a barely running car about 10 years back and the dealer sent a wrecker to my house to pick it up.
The_Tipsy_Turner@reddit
What all are you asking? Are you trying to figure out how to get to another dealership to buy a new car? Uber? Lyft? Taxi service in your area? Call a friend? Rent a car from nearby?
If you're also asking how to sell the car you currently have, look for places in your area that will give you cash for an undriveable car. I'm sure the dealership will give you some money for it? 100 bucks maybe? If you want to get it home, have it towed.

What
Swamp_Hawk_420@reddit
Have it towed. One of my friends did this with her blown Prius last week. She went and found a car she liked at a dealership, told them what was up with the Prius engine, got them to give her $1k for it, and had it towed into the dealership.
