Anyone out and about know what's going on with this wind out in Wyoming the usual suspect areas always blowing gusts. Supposed to cross into Salt Lake I don't think I can if the weather is shit.

Wyoming has a really good dedicated 511 app. I used to run there all the time and occasionally help my company with the walmart dedicated out of Cheyenne. That app WILL save your life/job.

How heavy is the load?
PathofEnlightment@reddit (OP)
Total weight is like under 50k

I-80 is currently shut down between Laramie and Rawlins to high-profile vehicles <50k GVW. That means it’s illegal to run your rig through it atm. This is between mm 310 and 210.
Be really fucking careful if you have to go past exit 279, this a very high gust area and I saw like 15 rigs on their side within a couple of miles of this spot back in early March.
Better yet park it and wait.
Between Rawlins and Rock Springs it’s closed to <35k. Mm 210 to 100.
West of Rock Springs looks ok.

Thanks Brother Appreciate It. I mean it's not you can get on somewhere and then avoid the closure by getting on an alternate road. It's pretty much closed through and through

You will be ok.

One good rule of thumb: if it's windy in only one place, it's Wyoming - they actually named a river "Wind."
A big factor in deciding is if you're loaded or empty.

I actually used to live in the Wind River Valley. I-80 is significantly windier than the Wind River Valley, and the Wind River Valley deserves its name.

Shit Driving in that Wind Past Cheyenne. Horrible

The Wyoming 511 app is good. Get that your phone.
I am not in the area right now, but I'm willing to bet it's very windy. I used to live in the area.
Dont be complacent on I80 during the winter. I've seen trucks just blown off the road because of the ice and the wind. I also once drove past an accident where an XPO day cab had spun and crashed into his second trailer. The truck started at the firewall. I have no idea where the engine was.
If you're not heavy You might be parking for a few days.

Besides the 511 app, my go to is Facebook page called Daily Forcasts and Road Conditions.

I know what they say but it's another story once you hit the road

wyoroad.info is a good tool

Wyoroads is one of the better 511 setups. I typically use it for snow/ice conditions. But it has wind advisories as well for restrictions. WY tends to shut down vehicles less than 50k gross when the wind picks up.
