I felt like Magyver when I’d bring my NES over for a sleepover, back when you had to use a screwdriver to attach the A/V cords to the tv.

Won't lie... Def miss sitting outside on a lovely morning with a cup of coffee & cigarette. Was still smoking when I got my first smart phone, so had the opportunity to include doom scrolling before the Wellbutrin finally made me quit.
ThePerfectSnare@reddit
Right? There was something so satisfying about routinely just having that one small outlet to start the dayh. Just being left the fuck alone for a few minutes on a cold morning with some hot coffee and something to smoke. I've got my winter hat on while I'm still in pajamas. Just give me 5 - 10 minutes alone to process whatever is on my tired mind and then I'll go back to being a responsible adult who routinely fixes blah blah blah...

Victory smoke after you wipe your greasy hands off on some damp grass from the hose water you just drank.
Content_Character625@reddit
A drink from the hose is just a water cig.
DudeCanNotAbide@reddit
Why use grass when ass do trick?
Primary-Strawberry-5@reddit
I was a crackhead once and that was easier to stop than nicotine. I quit cigarettes but still do pouches and I found pouches that taste like Bomb Pops.
A_Thorny_Petal@reddit
On day three with no cigarettes I literally stayed in bed all day, cried, and screamed at the top of my lungs into my pillow for a few minutes every 2 hours or so. It was fucking brutal, soaked with sweat, I felt like I'd run a marathon.
That was 25 years ago. On an early fall night, when the air is crisp, I still fucking want a cigarette and a drink, or on a bright spring morning with a cup of coffee on my porch...that shit will haunt me to the day I die.
I figure if I make it to 70 I'm going full tilt - just doing dope, smoking cigarettes, drinking gin, gambling, hookers, fuck it.

hilariously retirement communities are having real problems with GenX retirees because we stay up late, drink, swap pills, sleep around and try to proposition the staff. Which, ya know, sounds awesome.

Rock 'n Roll

A friend of mine once told me, quite seriously, that he had a harder time quitting Diet Coke than he had quitting cocaine.
evemeatay@reddit
Crack is harder than coke I’m sure, I don’t think coke is that addictive unless you just have a super addictive personality or have been doing like 80’s boardroom amounts of it
Lornesto@reddit
I think about 50 coke heads I know would probably disagree...
A_Thorny_Petal@reddit
if you don't have the addiction gene/brain chemistry even doing notoriously addictive hard drugs is just different. I've done almost all the drugs, and enjoyed them, do them for more than an evening or a weekend and it is absolutely clear that 'this is bad for you, no one can sustain a life like this, you are NOT the exception and you should probably keep this shit in check.' It isn't subtle at all - like a giant neon flashing sign that says "Life is not supposed to feel this good and exciting there will be a price to pay if you do this too much".
I think the difference is people with addict brain do hard drugs and feel normal, or they think that it makes them feel how they think everyone else must feel inside their head.
hotcapicola@reddit
I'm no expert, but I believe coke has less physical addiction/withdrawl effects than say opioids or meth, but like marijuana may have more of a habitual/mental addiction component.
hobbesgirls@reddit
everyone knows not to take anything you say seriously now, thanks
A_Thorny_Petal@reddit
yo...fuck quitting diet coke. at this point its preserving my organs and slowly turning me into a mummy I figure.
CMarlowe@reddit
Hey, Mark... don't fuck with me.
SlatheredButtCheeks@reddit
Blew me away as a kid when i saw that
xalleymanx@reddit
I used to light one up when I finished my paper route
Roland-Of-Eld-19@reddit
I used to smoke.... i still do.... but i used to too...
Gonzok@reddit
Why would you make your plants hard to reach!?

dreddstorm82@reddit
This was me but around 95 ish. The good ole days.
Biguitarnerd@reddit
Oh I was doing the math and I think 95 was when I started smoking.
Pantsickle@reddit
Just because I swam in irrigation water and would chase down any old mangy flea-infested critter I could catch doesn't mean that I'm wrong to say that too much screentime is unhealthy. It's different, goddammit! I don't know how, but it is.
ALT3NPFL3G3R@reddit
I was like 5 in 88 ... And my wife was ... Non-existent. 😂
FiveCrappedPee@reddit
I too choose this guys ghost wife
FoppyRETURNS@reddit
I genuinely miss adults waving around a cigarette telling you, "Smoking will fucking kill you!"
StillPlayingGames@reddit
I still smoke but at least I do it outside.
DetCityDaveST@reddit
Proper smoker etiquette unlike these vaping fucks who sneak hits all day inside. So many meatheads hitting their vapes between sets at the gym.
Accadius@reddit
I remember sitting at my aunt’s house with two other aunts there and they would all three light up a cigarette at the same time filling the room with smoke while telling me I should never smoke because its bad for you.
TheFool42@reddit
We were so much happier. And they're vaping.
EmperorGrinnar@reddit
I'm friends with some zoomers, and they're some of the Tiktok brain rot people I've ever met. Yet they're also incredibly happy and just living life. Reminds me of when I was their age and had more energy.
Epicardiectomist@reddit
as long as they're not hurting anyone, let the kids be kids, I say. I remember hating the adults who shat on our generation, vowing to never be like them.
EmperorGrinnar@reddit
Yeah, they're genuinely such positive and nice people to be around. One recently got a puppy and I love her.
59apache01@reddit
My personal favorite was being in the car with two or more smoking adult family members, all of the windows rolled up, and them saying "Damnit - we better never catch you smoking!!!!"
Possible-Jerk0138@reddit
Listen to the podcast Are You Garbage, it’s more dirtbag nostalgia than anyone can take. This post reminded me.
