I want it to be good, but I thought HotW 2 was just okay. For comparison, I thought the Beavis and Butthead revival movie and show were amazing, laughed until I cried multiple times.
I love Mel Brooks with my whole heart and no matter what, I love that he's still working and enjoying himself at his age. Him and Dick Van Dyke, man.
I'm not gonna lie, the fact that they didn't name it what everyone wanted it to be named is kind of a brilliant send up of how everyone ridiculed the titles of the prequels.
On a related note, "History of the World, Part II" should have been called "History of the World, Part III". I hate it when a sequel ruins a good joke! The joke was on me as a kid when I kept looking for "History of the World, Part II" at the video rental store, hoping it'd have come out on VHS. And now... it still won't come out on VHS!
Then again... if Mel Brooks was the one who found the title for "Part II" in a Cracker Jack box, then who am I to argue with the Schwartz?
You never know. There being more Star Wars to parody, and with most of the OG cast back, and Nell seemingly being more involved than he was in history of the world part 2, I think it could be fun.
I have doubts too, Love Spaceballs and I really hope it is good but I tried watching History of the World Part II and couldn't make it through the first episode.
Nope. He came out of retirement prior to this to work on a new Honey I Shrunk the Kids movie with Disney. This will be his first film to hit the screen since his coming back though.
So excited for this. For a long time, my friends and I would get together weekly to watch a screening of Spaceballs on VHS. We'd quote it relentlessly.

Yeah I was like APRIL 23RD??? That's in a week!! Oh, 2027.

I do wish they had kept the original joke title. It feels apt for both the character and teasing the cash grab aspect of a nostalgia sequel.
But I imagine that’s why they changed it. Too on-the-nose
The_Pinga_Man@reddit
Still think they should just kept the title The Search for More Money
S_A_R_K@reddit
But he found the money
The_Pinga_Man@reddit
Now he is searching for MORE money
CelticSith@reddit
Still wish it would have been called Spaceballs 3: The search for Spaceballs 2

He found the money (it was in the basement).

Very on-brand for Mr Brooks
anon1984@reddit
I thought it was the absolute perfect way to diffuse the name controversy if it wasn’t named this. Mel is still on top of it!
poop-money@reddit
Totally agree. I chortled at work while watching this on my break.

Dang, Mel Brooks is still pretty spry to be turning 100 years old in a couple months.
PopularSet4776@reddit
You mean I have to wait a year to see this?? Uggg
WeenisPeiner@reddit
Holy shit Mel is 99 years old. Still directing movies.

Yeah but that movie (or series?) called Shrunk or shrunken? I think it got shelved during covid and as far as I know it’s still shelved?
