Buy SSD now or wait it out?

Hello, currently building my first gaming PC- AMD Ryzen 7 9800x3d and a PNY RTX 5080. The least expensive 2TB or more SSD I can find is a Crucial T710 with heatsink. Is it worth it to spend the money on it now when it's significantly cheaper than WD Black or others but with nearly similar capabilities? First time builder so I appreciate any comments.

If you need it for your build, you need it. The os needs to go somewhere. If you can afford it, get a 2tb drive now. You'll appreciate having the space.
Buy once, cry once.

Well put. The $340 including heatsink doesn't seem so bad compared to the other options

no one can predict the future. Crucial are fine/good brand.

Awesome. Just stuck up on getting a 1TB then upgrading if prices come down but the 2TB price for Crucial's not bad compared to the others for sure.

Yeah, I used them before for external SSDs. Definitely better than Team Group which is by far the worst SSD maker I've tried yet. Shit quality hardware & terrible customer service.

you might consider a 1tb drive instead. prices should start calming down by the end of the year

I was also thinking that, adding 2 or 4 could be easier in the future when prices drop. Thank you

I am in the same boat as you. I have a main drive of 2tb and wanted to upgrade secondary storage from a 4tb HDD to an NVME.
I looked at the prices and decided I don't really need it and am holding off till the future.
