Front dirt bike hitch for a semi?

Has anyone ever seen a front dirt bike hitch on a semi, instead of a bull bar, similar to those you see on pickups sometimes? Idk seems like a good utilization of space. Is it even legal?
Delicious_Peace_2526@reddit
Where are you going to ride? Most places you’ll go probably don’t allow dirt bikes on public roads or anywhere else for that matter.
AndromedanPrince@reddit
how do u know it doesnt have a plate and lights?
Delicious_Peace_2526@reddit
Because when someone says dirt bike without mentioning that it’s street legal, they’re usually talking about a normal dirtbike.

Yea I’m thinking a dual sport or sumn

You also have to think of the weight it's going to add.

And the rack... all onto the steer tires.

Seen bicycles, never any dirtbikes. A few things to consider here though,
1) Do you want to total your bike if you hit a deer, get backed into or diesel forbid, rear end someone?
2) Legality is questionable, at best you'd be legal and fall into the same exemption as city buses, at worst you're on a scale with a bike that you have nowhere to store.
3) Do you plan to take it off every morning and every night for your pre/post trip inspection? Also gotta take it off everytime you have a DOT inspection and certain shippers/recievers (looking at you Boeing) where you may be expected to open your hood for inspection?
All in all i'd recommend against it, it's a better idea to look into some kind of catwalk setup for it, which is actually already perfectly legal and normalized. Having an Ebike behind your cab is actually pretty handy nowadays.

You guys are doing pre trips? /s
Various-Blood-3902@reddit
Why does Boeing make you open your hood?
FWD_to_twin_turbo@reddit
Security checkpoint to enter their facility. A few places we go to have truck security checkpoints where they look under your hood, truck and trailer.
Various-Blood-3902@reddit
Where else other than Boeing?
december151791@reddit
Security at a tire factory in Des Moines looked under my truck with a mirror and inside my cab (from the outside). Didn't look under the hood though.

Military outposts, any facility under Marsec 2, Federal buildings, certain research centers, etc.
Raytheon, a certain Texas instruments facility and Encore Wire used to do it but they both have Xrays now.
Never been to a high security facility?

The navy base I worked at inspected each and every commercial vehicle that came onboard, each and every time.

Probably wouldn't advise tempting fate and going through an MP checkpoint to get on base or in any military secured area with that setup, especially if it's not a regular delivery.
I've never had issues with MPs and they're usually pretty chill. Short of one of em having a bad day, I doubt they would care. But their orders and security policies can (and do) change at the drop of a hat when it comes to commercial trucks. So you could end up being turned away and stuck finding a place to unload/park it, then come back and go through screening all over again.
ARockWithAGlock@reddit
I’ve seen several guys with dual sports on racks parallel with the back of their cabs. If memory serves me correctly they were all on longer wheelbase trucks with more room between cab and trailer.
leadpoem@reddit
A while back, I saw a guy with a custom lift putting his Harley behind his cab, but he was clearly an owner-operator and had money to burn.
Personally, I would look into the Suron Light Bee X or similar. I'm pretty sure they're coming with VINs now, so they can just be registered as motorcycles.
They do about 45 and have 40-ish miles to a battery.
I think total weight is about 100 lb, give or take. If you take your battery out first, there'd be no reason why you couldn't get it behind the cab and strap it in. You might need a ramp, or if you can he-man it up, that would work too.

I really want to get a electric scooter, but where would I leave it/park it when I got where I was going? Like WalMart or a vape store.
greedybanker3@reddit
definitely possible if you have a hitch mount. i dont know the liability or legality of putting it on a cmv. you can do it on a pov. plenty do. but thats different rules. id say mounting it on the catwalk somewhere is better though. i have to assume that if we havent seen others do it then there is a reason for that.

Going to block your pretrip.

You’re being silly. Get an e-bike.
TruckerAlurios@reddit
Going to Second this and add a folding model
Kiiaru@reddit
Do you mind taking it off every morning to do your pre trip? I'd say look into ramps or a hoist to get it up onto your catwalk behind the cab.
ogloc1995@reddit
Seems like it would be a huge pain in the ass

Just think of the bugs! Drive through Nebraska in the summer and your bike will be a different color by time you’re done!

Idk about a dirt bike but I've seen people carrying on the back of the cab. That should be good unless you jackknife it

Always thought the electric would be some entertainment on a 34. At least get to the next exit where everything is.

I ended up buying an electric unicycle for exactly this reason. It made OTR a lot more bearable.
legendofthegreendude@reddit
I had to reread that twice lol. More power to you but you won't catch my fat ass on a unicycle, way to top heavy for that.

It wasnt easy to learn, no one believed it was a good idea. I generally wouldnt recommend it. Ive got \~900mi on this thing and its been absolutely fantastic. The dogs never been in better shape :P
Environmental-Pear40@reddit
I have seen it for bicycles but not a dirt bike. Pretty sure its something that's custom made.
